Can someone update a poor non-american on the whole mariah carrey meme?

Her "All I Want for Christmas is You" is considered the last great Christmas song ever recorded, so every year for a whole month before Xmas every radio station is gonna play it multiple times a day. I guess it's basically impossible to go to any mall after Thanksgiving and not hear it.

It used to happen in Italy too, maybe less now 'cuz we have our homemade crap "music" forced upon us.
Best we can hope is we get something similar from Laura Pausini. Of course with more emphasis on love than on Christmas.
