Pikachu has found ketchup paradise

It's so weird to think a grown woman was hired to sing this song.

Like she was just given a script that said "Pikachu" over and over, and was told "Sing it."

That is such a work of art. Simply, majestic beauty :').

To be serious, that looks random and really strange but it fits the character and is priceless :).

so if i'm seeing this right, a whole herd of pikachu just summoned a version of yggdrasil that grows ketchup

i mean...it's hardly the weirdest thing pokemon has done, but i just wanna make sure i'm understanding this

You will feel more weird if you know she is 50 years old. Talking about the power of Japanese voice actors/actresses...

Man, I remember when Pikachu's love of ketchup was just a background joke during the original seasons.

I'm getting old.

The only thing I could think of is "Some woman get's paid to say the same three syllables in different pitch, length and emotion and sing them too"

That said I grinned the whole way through that stupid song.

I don't understand a lot of Japanese. Like when he says "Pika Pikachu", I think that would be something like "Pika Pikachu" in English, right?

Can somebody post the translated lyrics?

Pikachu has the same VO as Chopper from One Piece and Morgana from Persona 5.

imagining a human recording those sounds makes my skin crawl
If you take alot of what VAs have to say in isolation it can be pretty ridiculous, remember every grunt or moan you hear in your vidja game, someone had to make that noise voluntarily

Ikue Ohtani been doing that job for almost twenty years.

Twenty years of being paid an assumably decent salary yelling variations of the same 3 syllables for hundreds of episodes of a children's show.

She's the voice of one of the most iconic mascots of any global multimedia franchise.

She's in her fifties and sang a song about how much Pikachu likes ketchup by just using the syllables in "Pikachu".

I respect her hustle.

Even after trying Pokemon GO, this right here is the moment I realise and come to terms with the fact that Pokemon just isn't for me.
