Remember how you used to gather 'round the fireplace with dear-old-dad and listen to podcasts together? Why not cap off a perfect father's day with a brand new episode of Josh and Jay's Excellent Video Game Show?

Episode 56: Balls, Guns and Cars
This week we sift through the aftermath of E3 as Rowan resists an orgy of capitalism based on video games for little boys, Josh calls for an Xbox One sans disc drive, and Jay tries to reconcile having both an Xbox Live gold and Playstation Plus subscription. We also look at The Last of Us, Fallout: New Vegas DLC, Sony and Microsoft’s launch title lineup and a whole buncha new games!

Thought I would create site that could help highlight the best threads and posts of NeoGAF, so you could be informed of the latest and hottest goings-on of GAF.

NeoGAF Lurker

Like I said in the opening post, I will need help scouring GAF to find things to post. So, if you would like to submit a tip use the submit a tip page.

I used to blog regularly covering TV, games and movies, but pretty much stopped completely at the end of last year. A few days ago I wrote something about how a Man Of Steel sequel could use the first film's weaknesses (excessive destruction particularly) to its advantage, so you can read that here if you interested. Note: it's basically an outline of a potential story and fairly long.

Hopefully more interesting is a twenty-part action thriller serial I wrote from Oct '11 to March '12. If anyone reads any part of it, I'd be interested to know what you think. There's certainly some things wrong with it, but hopefully it's fun and easy to read anyway. I'm planning on releasing it as an eBook once I get my act together.

New episode of Josh and Jay's Excellent Video Game Show. We got two listener emails recently - which means we have at least two listeners. Big time!

Episode 58: The Three Bromigos

This week Jay regales us with tales of pinball from the Pacific Northwest, Josh goes deep into the unexplored Arctic to wrap his head around H. P. Lovecraft and Rowan braves Bay Area Rapid Transit to fix his ailing PC. Plus Surgeon Simulator 2013, Minecraft, The Last of Us and so much more! Kobe!

Hey GAFfers, I'm a guy from the UK who used to blog about my shitty minimum-wage job working in a cinema. Eventually I got fired for not just the blogs, but writing disparaging things on Facebook and Twitter. I then wrote a blog about my firing and posted it all over the cinema's FB page.

Here's a link, enjoy!

I also wrote a sort of experimental half-serious piss take of online dating, which you can find here. This one was super-popular, relatively. Although it appears one of my .gifs is no longer working. Darn!

We're trying out video for our latest podcast episode. We have no idea what we're doing.

Josh and Jay's Excellent Video Game Show - Episode 66 - Canadian Beetlejuice

This week Josh gets pumped about a trilogy of Steam announcements, Jay gets riled up reading too much into GTA V and Rowan rants about Master of Orion III and the bland blandness of Endless Space. Plus Skyrim!

I'm thinking of doing a blog myself for fun and would like to know at this time what is a good website where I can register ".com" websites for cheap. Thank you.

Wordpress.com is free and probably the most popular, but your name will have to be ____.wordpress.com.

Love the connection to Orwell and that part in Road to Wigen Pier.

Ahh, their isn't a way to use just the domain name without wordpress.com at the end of it? Wordpress is on top of my list list as a host but I'm also looking at blogger or squarespace before I settle down. Any recommendations is welcoming.

Either way, just want to start somewhere with the least amount of a learning curve for a noob like me. I have a couple domain names register I like to use as well. I want to do a blog reviewing/ranting about old school kung fu/martial arts movies on the VHS tapes plus reviewing other obscure foreign movies across the world. Maybe, do a small podcast or youtube videos riffing on the martial art videos ala MST3K or Kung Faux. James Rolfe doing what he does with cinemassacre.com and his love for horror movies is my inspiration. Its a on/off idea I had in the back of my head for years now but it something I want to pursue finally.

I've been on a retro-gaming streak for the past few months, and I wanted to talk about some of the more obscure games I played to give them some more exposure and maybe get others to try them out, so I made a site named Retro Excellence.

http://retroexcellence.com/

It's a small site, full of "Intro Reviews", which are overviews of the games I played through.
The point of the "Intro Reviews" is to get other to try the games out themselves. I'm not going to spoil story details or anything of the sort. It's just a quick look at an old game to give it a second chance.
If you guys have any comments or any advice, I'm all ears!

I actually use WordPress, and to get your own domain, you have to pay like, $9 per year. It's rather cheap.
SquareSpace is pretty good too, and I use it for my clothing brand. It is rather expensive, though.

Pay $18 a year to use it without the wordpress bit.

All of the major blogging platforms (Wordpress, tumblr, blogger) are pretty noobie friendly AFAIK. For wordpress, just pick a theme and start typing. You get 3 gigs of space for media, and links are super easy and integrated.

Blow The Cartridge - name an old video game. I'll make a comic about it.

It's my retrogaming comic I've been doing for about two years now and has updated every week. Always open to suggestions.

And yeah anyone out there who is considering starting a blog - the sooner the better is my advice. Just getting something out there is a really cool learning process.

I guess I will try out Wordpress for my blog. Any tips/advice I should know before hand.

Spend some time deciding on a theme that suits your content, because you ideally want it to be consistent once you start blogging. Are you writing short blurbs? Is it going to be image intensive? Or substantial longform essays?

Make sure to tag and categorize your stuff logically. Try to have distinct categories and for each post have 10 tags that are not too general and not too specific.

If you want more traffic, try to read up on others who are doing what you are doing on the Wordpress reader, like their stuff, and comment.

Content-wise, it's better if you have a theme you're writing about, versus just rambling. It seems like you do, so you should be fine.

Finally, a good name goes a long way.

Let me know if there's anything specific you want to know.

I might as well pitch my blog as I have more content now that before, although, I still have to edit a lot of my previous ones since they are badly written with a lot of grammatical faults.

Any, my blog is about introducing new band and artists around the globe. Especially in the indie and alternative scene. Each entry, composes of detailed history of the band, if applicable, and what sort of sound you could expect from them. I also, add their most representative Promotional video (music video) and their most impressive tracks by the end.

Here is the link to my blog: http://faridmon.blogspot.co.uk/

blog of a friend, in spanish, it.has pokemon news and stuff, kinda niche. Sometimes contribute with gaming news. Have a look:

thanks

Just started my own blog last night. Have a question for successful -- however you may define that -- bloggers who've been writing for a decent amount of time. Is it better to have a theme for my blog (e.g. sports blog, video game blog, etc) or will a variety blog be fine? My goal is to use this blog as an opportunity to better my writing skills, and, should I want to pursue a writing career in the future, I want to have experience on a wide range of subjects.

One Sub Left

Takes a bit more of an irreverent look at football (or soccer 4 u crazy Americans); more ludicrous metaphors and analogies, less fear in calling a player shit, but still some good analysis and tactical insight.

Music recs. Not its final form. Haven't had time to update it as much as I'd like.

http://www.100musica.com.mx

Nice blog! And you get cool points for me seeing Chvrches on the main page there *thumbs up*

http://wedance2thebeat.com/
That's me personal music blog, focusing more on music videos, which I've been doing for the past 3 years, mostly just for myself. I spend so much time listening to music I figured I might as well take a few extra minutes a day and make that into something productive.

Also recently started a photo blog (http://brenttakesphotos.tumblr.com/), if anyone wants to give that a look. I'm still learning the arts of photography and photo editing.

Thank you. I like yours too, will check it out often.

I don't think this counts as a necro bump since there's no other appropriate place for this, but my fiance and I started a site discussing gaming from the perspective of playing with your significant other or just non-gamer types in general. We're kind of off to a slow start but we're definitely finding our footing quickly.

http://myfairgamer.com/

We just posted our video review of Spelunky HD and I'm really proud of it. Been using the experience to teach myself more about After Effects and re-learn some video production techniques I've forgotten since college.

I'd love any feedback, criticism, re-tweets, etc. Thanks guys!

I decided to start a new blog after having some difficulties on the old one. Here is a link:

Would appreciate anyone who decides to give it a look.

Really love the look of the site and the theme is cool. Kind of a different feel than the typical site. I bookmarked it. I will try and stop in from time to time.

Lucky me. Thread bumped just as I'm getting my own blog off the ground:

Basically a blog about working in the video game industry. Toss in my thoughts about what I'm playing and photos of gaming related toys I like to buy, and well, its just a place for me to blog about my experiences and general thoughts on gaming. At least that is the idea.

Just started it and my first couple of posts cover some of the wackiness in dealing with Apple and their lovely app store.

I'm just running with the default theme at the moment, though I'm looking at others. This will do for now though.

Would definitely love any feedback. I'll definitely check out some of the newer posts and check out some of yours guys blogs. John Rabbit, definitely digging the decor of yours.

Thanks to anyone who may check mine out. Much appreciated.

New episode of Josh and Jay's Excellent VIdeo Game Show.

EPISODE 77: NEEDS MORE HITLER

This week Josh raves about the Oculus Rift and strapping things to his face in general, Jay farts his way through hordes of nazi zombies in South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Rowan spreads his lasers wide in Luftrausers. Plus, Tales from GDC 2014, Threes, Assassin’s Creed: Liberation, Diablo III, and more!

http://sociologyofvideogames.wordpress.com/

I post mostly about articles that have to do with Video Games and Sociology. It's a relatively unexplored subject within sociology (mostly due to Video Games falling into a gray area between media studies, psychology, sociology, and other studies), but it's a growing one.

Would really appreciate some feedback. I'll be sure to check out some of those already posted.

I run a photoblog focused on Japanese sake (sake bars/izakayas and the like) mostly in New York and Tokyo.

thesakenotes.com

I'll be heading to Tokyo in just over a week, so there will be quite a bit of new content soon

I use tumblr for my blog

http://professorrenegade.tumblr.com

I don't use it for reblogging thing, I primarily use it to post original content that I make. Lately I've been posting pictures of collectible figures that I buy, but other times I'll post a whole bunch of other things. The meat of my blog is in video games, anime, and all that other nerdy stuff.

Edit: can't remember if I posted ITT before...
