Also, can't remember his name, but the guy who says "Thug Life" and is in the movie Hot Rod. He's quite awesome, too..

Danny McBride, I think? The guy is hilarious, I love him in everything I see him in (haven't seen The Foot Fist Way).

Also, I've been looking forward to Pineapple Express since I saw the trailer the first time and LOVED it, it's good to hear some people say it was great.

edit: Is the M.I.A. song from the trailer used in the movie?

I don't know but the clip I saw on the internet where franco is talking about
how if this weed and some other weed fucked and had a baby, and some other weed and some other weed fucked and had baby, and those two babies some how met and fucked, that the weed in his hands would be the weed they would have produced...and rogen responding "wow, this is the product of baby fucking" had me laughing my ass off....I'm sure apatow and crew won't fail me. they havent yet.

Just went to a press screening with a Q and A with David Gordon Green. The film was really enjoyable. It was such a great mix of comedy and action. Pretty much every laugh is matched with some intense action, which brings more laughs. It's quite the adventure film as a whole. I LOVED Franco in it. He is great in his role as a lovable loser. You can also tell DGG's directorial touch. This is not just a stoner comedy, its a piece of cinema that holds its own, when comparing it with other adventure flicks and upper tier comedies. I really recommend seeing this movie, it was a great refresher from the disappointing Step Brothers.

8/10.

I enjoyed the preview for it, so I'll go watch it whenever I can (That week and weekend will be hell for me so I'll probably watch it the week after).

Why is this "huh" worthy... disturbia, Transformers, Indiana Jones, and now eagle eye.
The "huh" is because the two movies aren't releasing side by side. Plus, no one went to see Transformers and Indiana Jones cuz of Shia.

Thats the same dude? I didnt recognize him without his badass mustache. He's been in alot of stuff lately.

I saw this tonight and thought it was at least as good as superbad. Actually, it shares a lot in structure with superbad ( 2 close friends, one outsider friends; hilarious cop involvement). I do think it stops being really funny after a certain point, but you could say it is an action version of superbad.

That's good enough for me. I can't wait to see this. :)

whats the name of the song played in every commercial for this movie?

i must know!
paper planes by M.I.A, the movie made the song really popular its playing on the radio a bunch now

Just a heads up... this movie just dropped BIGTIME on Rottentomatoes.com. Its sitting at 50%, which puts it below step brothers, and for now, Tropic Thunder.

Alot of hate from critics

So after hearing people rave about this. step-brothers and Zohan I've come to the conclusion that Gaf has horrible taste in movies....

Disclaimer:I haven't seen any of the above mentioned movies...for a reason.

Because you can tell, just by looking at them, that they're horrible.

Pineapple Express seems to be full of ideas that are going to be impossible to come together into a funny ending.

But alas.... all of my friends want to see it, so I'm going on Wednesday. :(

I personally thought Superbad was one of the most overrated movies of last year, so I don't have very high hopes for this one. Its currently at 57% on Rotten Tomatoes; which seems about right based on my expectations.

I've seen like 3 different trailers and promotional spots and I really can't stop laughing at them and I never did once at anything during the Superbad or Knocked Up trailers.

The regular commercials/trailers for Superbad weren't that good because they had to be edited but the redband trailer was fucking hilarious.

Saw it yesterday and loved every second. James Franco owned the movie.

Yeah I realized that after. I still think Shia definitely helped with transformers, he carried disturbia all by himself.

As for this movie saw it last night and it was great. It was actually a little funnier than I expected. I just didn't like the genre blending that much. It went from a semi-serious comedy movie, to an absolute over the top spoof movie.

it's at 70% this morning

I saw it at midnight last night. I loved it, and the rest of the theater seemed to as well. Lots of applause, especially at the end. You definitely don't have to be stoned out of your skull to enjoy it, and it's got a broader appeal then say, Harold and Kumar.

Of course, I chose to watch it as intended and the only downside is now I have to go see it again because I was laughing so hard I missed some of the lines. :D

Same here man, the theater was DYING laughin so I couldn't understand half the stuff they were saying. At one point during the movie they just started applausing so we missed about 30 seconds of dialog there.

A song from an album released a year ago is #3 on iTunes why?

Good effort, though.

AMAZING. Can't believe people were criticizing the action-heavy second half. It's gold!

It's in the trailer, dude. M.I.A. rules -- why complain about some free promotion?

To me it was a little to over the top. I got it believe me, it just didn't click that great with me. I thought it was pretty funny
hey look guns!
whenever they ran out, but it still felt out of place.

he's not complaining. He's saying the trailer made it popular, while the other guy is saying it isn't popular or something along the lines of that.

The one that got me laughing is the white fat guy with a shotgun saying " Thug Life"

I loled at that part.

Yeah that line combined with the music was epic, I'll wait till it's on bluray but movie looks awesome. Too bad I quit smoking.

See, I thought that was the whole point. It's supposed to be out of place. That's half the reason it was so funny, because they were clearly writing to top themselves in every consecutive set piece.

Gotcha. Either way, M.I.A. rules.

:lol :lol :lol

The song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_Planes_(song)) is a single from this album: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kala_(album)

which has had a massively positive reception both critically and sales wise since being released 1 year ago.

The comment was that the movie has made the song really popular, which is absolutely bullshit. It's having a slight sales resurgence due to the trailer, but in no way is a previous #1 song a hidden gem that is just now exploding due to a shit film.

No way! The song is a single from the album? Tell me more!

Tons of people who normally wouldn't have given the song a chance are getting into it because of the trailer, thus putting it at #3 on iTunes. It's not a bad thing, and you don't have to go into holier-than-thou mode because it's gaining a bunch of popularity.

The song has already been beaten to death a million times over, so for someone to give a stoner film credit for making it big is an invitation for me to go into music snob mode.

Oh and unrelated, but if anyone thinks Superbad was actually funny, please 1) grow up and 2) get laid. I've never met anyone with an IQ higher than 50 who thought it was anything more than generic slapstick coming-of-age grossout comedy v3.0.

So you still maintain that the film has nothing to do with the song's current level of popularity? :lol Come on, man.

And then to randomly bash Superbad in a thread that isn't related to it at all...good goin'.
