Looked pretty good to me, three cuddly bear part aside.

Pixar trailers always try to play up the "family appeal", for the most part, and then it always turns out that they have some express purpose in the elegance of the storytelling. In particular, from the interviews it's clear this is no Cars 2 and they have a deeper brand of story direction intended. Pixar makes one shit movie and the world crumbles, but I trust them still implicitly.

Ha, seriously.

This makes no sense. Subtle but lacks subtleties?
I think all of the characters in Brave look to be more expressive in the face and less cartoony in the full body movement compared to Tangled. The nuance in the her face right there sells the entire reason for this movie.

I love how this thread happens with literally every single Pixar trailer ever.

Then again, I'm not getting some of the complaints. It looks gorgeous, the animation looks great (I have no problem with realistic animation), the character design is fine (like HtTYD but prettier), and it should be known by now that Pixar's theatrical trailers are almost always awful or extremely misleading.

Totally agreed. The dude sounded like he knew what he was talking about, but yeah. There's a lot of nuance in these shots.

Put me in the not convinced side. I'm not one for he scottish ball dangler.

Anyways, whenever a production switches directors half way through, it's not a good sign.

90% chance I'll be there week one regardless.

I can't believe it's almost been a year and a half since the last good pixar film came out.

When is Brad Bird directing a pic again?

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol comes out next month and features 100% more Bird and Cruise than Brave.

Ugh. So disappointing when animation directors switch to live action, especially when they're capable of inspiring such artistry. I'm sure Mission Impossible will be rad, but nothing in it will be able to match the subtle beauty of Bob and Helen arguing about Dash participating in sports. But I can't fault Bird for following his own creative vision. God speed, Mr. Bird, and may those who take your place be as capable of such heights.

He hasn't said he's finished with animation. He can do both.

Why do people still put so much weight into a trailer? 'Tangled' should serve as the more recent posterchild for misleading/horrible marketing.

Looks great. I was getting ready to vomit if I heard a non-Scot accent but even Emma Thompson did okay with a northern-English accent.

Though this is going to get compared to How to Train a Dragon and Tangled, I don't care. More historical fantasy I always say!

Trailer was meh - seems too slapsticky but I blame the trailer more.

Hopefully this will be more of an epic than what the trailer is suggesting.

Has Pixar got any other movies on their slate other than Monster University (ugh)?
Yes 2.

The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs (2013)

The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind (2014)

Up co-director Bob Peterson will release his movie about what happened if dinos never went extinct. on November 27th, 2013 and the other Up director Peter Docter is planning a May 30th, 2014 for his ambitious film that goes “inside the human mind.” And Lee Unkrich's next movie will probably hit in 2015.

The lead characters voice is one of the worst casting decisions I've ever seen(or heard...).
The random mix of Scottish and American accents also made absolutely no sense, and then half the cast was just from the generic young comedic actor crowd that the non-Pixar CGI companies use constantly.

Wasn't as hyped as I thought I would be. I'm thinking it might be because the trailer looks to contain the majority of comic relief than would be present in entire film. (Is this a common thing?)

To be sure, I rewatched Pixar's last few trailers and found Ratatouille and Toy Story 3 to be the compelling ones of the bunch

Still pretty hyped. Also dat Merida

Clearly they're remaking this:

What baffles me is why they chose to go that route. I understand that some people think Norse = Scottish voices but wouldn't the better choice to have been choosing Scandinavian actors directly? Their English is on the same level as Scottish and Irish when it comes to understanding it.

Pretty much.

Also people seriously think this looks like a Dreamworks film? It's only because of HTTYD that people are even thinking that, and even then it's silly to compare. Dragons is the most Disney of the Dreamworks films anyway (aside from their 2D films).

It is set in present day if they never went extinct.
Indeed.

Also here's some old concept art from the film.

Fuck, corny jokes don't belong in Pixar films. This trailer felt totally dreamworks-ish. In fact this reminded me of Shrek too much. I hope Pixar doesn't let down :(

oh god they going to have them doing human things as the jokes -_- sound worst then Cars
I was expecting something more akin to The Flintstones set in a modern era myself.

I'm not really feeling this movie. I know it's just a trailer, but it seems like it doesn't have any Pixar magic. Cars and Cars 2 felt the same way. I think Pixar is really starting to get bored with themselves and its showing through their work.

It'll make more sense in the film.

The jokes are merely there so that it doesn't come across too serious.

It made sense because the idea was to give the kids different accents in order to firm the line between the generations.

I didn't say it was a good idea, but it wasn't completely willy-nilly.

It was underwhelming BUT I love the setting, the time period (fuck yes) and I love that Pixar is doing a fantasy movie.

This is a heavily anticipated film for me.

If you look back to the trailers for their previous films, they all kind of have the same "style". Very family orientated etc..
