I think it will because people keep bringing it up and blatantly telling Rockstar they think they will.

At this point it will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

At minimum it will be $80 like Mario Kart because as some people have pointed out there will probably be a Deluxe edition that will cross that $100 barrier.

it will cost more than that for the "special deluxe early access" aka the regular version followed by the gimped discount version delayed by a week or two for 70-80

They could and it would still be the best selling game ever but I don't think they will, $70 is my guess but Nintendo has opened the door wide open now, only a matter of time until PlayStation, Microsoft and other big publishers do the same for their titles.

They should release it in early access for $100 and then release later at $70 for everyone else. Milk that fomo.

IMO it will be $80.
With a $100-120 edition that comes with early access

That way they'll probably still get millions of people paying $100 without the backlash of the base price of the game being $100.
Besides, you want to keep it relatively affordable because the true long term money is in the microtransactions.

GTA5's long term revenue came from Online, and that only happens when you get people in the door. And let's not forget the record making billions in revenue.

For GTA6 to be $100 would be to massively gate-keep the user base and cause a very noticeable difference in sales.

So it's guaranteed record breaking profits again vs taking a huge risk by upping the price by 25% from what it almost certainly will be. I think Rockstar know better than to let arrogance diminish profit.

A $100 price tag for the base edition of GTA 6? That's even too aggressive for Rockstar

I'd be genuinely shocked if Rockstar did that

As for early access to the singleplayer campaign? Fat chance. Rockstar doesn't do staggered rollouts for their crown jewels, they orchestrate a worldwide frenzy where we all lose our minds simultaneously

Sure, early acces might include Online headstarts, but the story mode? Locked until blast-off for maximum chaos

Rockstar gets it: hype is their secret sauce, and they won't dilute it.

Imagine how negative the press would be from that announcement. There's no good way to spin that, even for Rockstar. Companies barely got away with the long burn of $10 at a time and probably still feel the sting.

$60 base game.
$79.99 deluxe edition with some skins/clothing/whatever the hell GTA has
$129 Ultimate edition that will give you everything in the deluxe edition, plus a bunch of currency and crap for their online.

Game gets pushed to 2027.

It will still be terribly optimized, will run like crap, and require some sort of Rockstar account, even on PS5.

Despite all that, people will ignore every single flaw, because it's Rockstar, and call it a masterpiece.

Also, online won't require a subscription, but will be loaded with microtransactions, almost as bad, if not worse than a lot of gacha games.

Certainty not for the base version, can see it still being 80 dollars since that's the new standard for a big AAA no matter how big it is. Now a early access or deluxe edition can easily go for a 100 of course.

It'll have a range of Sku's, with its highest cost sku being a "digital deluxe" version thats $129, just like borderlands 4. This is what Take 2 wants, and will for sure be having Rockstar do it.

I like people people doesn't care about spending 20$ at McDonald for a meal they will shit the next day but go berserk over a 10$ price increase on a record breaking budget AAAA game they will play for hundreds of hours.
