Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition (PC/mobile) officially announced

Steam Page

April 11th. No price yet. OST also available

^^$20 via Beamdog, ergo probably the same on Steam / GOG, and likely pricing will remain pretty crap for a long time as their other updates have like BG. I'll probably just stick with modding the GOG version.

That's way sooner than I expected, and just the right price for me.

To calm the fury of RPGCodex users, the project lead made the following post:
Well, that sounds reasonable.

I'll probably get it. Eventually.

I think the entire video game community/community of earth at large would probably be better off if everyone ignored RPGCodex exists forever.
No. RPGCodex knows a whole lot about RPG design. More than any other community collectively, probably. Disregarding that because the forum is not moderated is not constructive.

I agree.
An at least slightly moderated RPGCodex would potentially be pretty amazing.

"Listen up you assholes, we made no fucking changes okay? None. Are you happy now idiots? It's all the same. There. Buy it"

The easiest solution for stuff like this would probably be to allow fans to "turn off" any new content so they can enjoy their game just like they remember it.

Wish for Icewind Dale 2 EE next please, thanks.

I would have liked that option when I played Baldurs Gate EE. Since it was my first time playing it, I think I'd have preferred having just the 'original' content + the modern system so to speak. But part of me feels like those arseholes 'won' so to speak, so a wee bit bummed.

However, I am all over this. This comes out around when I finish Uni, so it's perfect timing for me.

Kind of undermined by the fact that most of the userbase seems to be actual neo-nazis or otherwise eating out of the reactionary trash can.

I appreciated the toggle option for the Monkey Island Games and I think that's the best way to handle it. However, the things changed here are so minimal that I don't really see a need.

I'm looking forward to it -- been a couple of years since I've done a replay.

I actually hope (probably will never happen) to see more stuff in the PS Universe, but I don't want it attached to the original Torment. As far as I'm concerned, the story there is pretty contained. Would love a chance to further explore the planes though.

They fixed the pre-order discount on GOG for people who own the original release on there. Showing up as $13.99 now.

Can't say no to it at that price.

Hmm, I know the game is more-or-less already in "remastered" form through mods but I would be willing to buy it again for convenience if nothing else.

Hopefully they finish some of the "unfinished" content as well (I know a mod does this already).

Those changes seems like it's worth it. Plus 4k support and some UI changed and I'm so there. Right on time really.

I just started yet again and lamented the lack of features like tab highlight and mouse wheel support. Definitely would like to fit this in ASAP.

I've never been a fan of the additions Beamdog have made to the previous enhanced editions, but as long as the original versions are still available I suppose it doesn't matter. Though restricting the original versions behind the enhanced editions is certainly questionable.

I haven't played Siege of Dragonspear though.

Pretty much this. They're by far the best community for in-depth RPG discussion.

I played Battle Brothers a lot over the weekend, and while the thread here barely moves an inch, the thread there is busy with activity.

That may be true, but they have opinions and discussions on RPGs that are valuable. Dismissing them entirely because of their political opinions, of which I strongly disagree with, isn't constructive.

STILL one of my favorite games of all time. Love everything about it. It's like comfort food. Happy to pay $20 for 4K support and Avellone additions.

Yeah this all sounds really good, best case scenario for an Enhanced Edition. Definitely going to get this the next time I want to play it (just played it again over the summer).

In the case of fascists and other assholes, it's very constructive.

Timer's gone. Available to "purchase" from Beamdog, Steam, and GOG now. Mac, Android, and App Store later. Achievements listed on Steam.

$20, April 11th, mobile versions are $10.

Sorry for no link, on mobile.

Planescape.com says $20 for PC and Mac versions.

Oh sweet. Will probably get this on iOS. Got an iPad Pro recently-ish and funnily enough I've felt like it's the perfect excuse to play Shadowrun and wanted PST (to finally get anywhere in it). Excited!

Very excited for this. I bought this the day it came out in 1999 and don't think I was mentally mature enough to play the game. I've always wanted to revisit the game as I've heard numerous times I would "Love it" from people I trust, but I never could get the mods to work just right.

I was reading through this and didn't understand what the RPGcodex references where, I googled them, read the post dedicated to it there and holy shit they are assholes. I've never been more instantly turned off by a group of people in my entire life. Terribly mean, pessimistic, and rude.

Well for $20 I'll finally experience Torment for the first time in 2017 and only 18 years late.

Cool. Will definitely be picking this up for my next play-thru, whenever I do that. Loved my 1st play-thru, but had a few issues getting everything working with mods. Had weird issues with spell effects causing slowdown, and didn't really look forward to fiddling with that shit again.

Being opposed to fascism and other garbage is "limiting"? Ok.
No, being opposed to fascism is a very good thing, and one we need more of.
However, pretending that it doesn't exist, or communicating only in formats which pre-filter it, while very comfortable, does nothing to improve the situation and might actually be detrimental to it - I think the ease at which the internet allows you to only talk to like-minded individuals is a huge factor in the recent rise of political extremism. Anyway, that is OT.

Which is why toxic places with shitty userbases such as the RPG Codex and 4chan doesn't deserve praise even if they have "good" aspects to them. Stopped clocks and whatnot. Far right extremism can't be treated like it's just another set of ideas.

But yeah, this is getting OT.

"Plot fixes" seem the most interesting thing, though I'm sure what they could possibility "fix". Everything else you can pretty much get with mods, kinda underwhelming but oh well, maybe this will get more people to play Torment.

lol at Avellone being included in the fixes.

PST is such a revered game that I think there'd be fan backlash to anything that deviates from the original.

At least with this, any changes made are done so by the man who is credited with the writing on the game to begin with.

Plot fixes just means some journal updates and item descriptions that weren't internally consistent or something.

And almost none of the items on that list can be done with mods. PST has never been the most modable game in the world.

From reading YouTube comments I'm assuming that Planescape: Torment is a game for SJW cucks now and GamerGate is against it? Good! Makes it even better!

Yeah codex community is pretty thoroughly messed up just from stopping by through the years. Outside the unmoderated nature of the bigots they are in general just very negative and shit on anything almost no matter what. They are stuck in the past in a lot of ways.

There are a few bits and pieces of dialogue and such that refer to earlier versions of the script (with some plot holes as a result) and some cut stuff of at various stages of implementation. Might just be fixing that stuff.

So, help me out here:
Why is that the Nameless One is blue in most of the art for the game? Is there something I just don't remember? Does anybody know that? Is just the "orange/teal" thing or is there more to it?

More like Waste Your Money Edition for those who don't know how to use mods. The only good thing is being able to play on mobile devices easily if you're into that sort of thing.
Every EE edition is superior to those using mods trying to replicate the same features.
