Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition (PC/mobile) officially announced

I started a game last night and I am enjoying it. I left the enhanced stuff on, including the sprite outlines and honestly I think it's fine and looks better than it did in the BG enhanced games.

I didn't bother looking up "best stats for all convo" cheat sheets so I just went with a pretty standard mage build, high int with good con and dex.

It's not as big of a deal as some people make it out to be. Just play it and enjoy your experience.

Even then it's less min/max and more "dump points in wisdom and intelligence then... uhhh... charisma?" Maxing Wisdom is the most important thing and even then the game throws several permanent stat up opportunities. Just not wise to make it a dump stat.

Very true about the in-game stat boosts. Honestly, you can still have a totally fine experience with 9 WIS, it just makes understanding the background story harder. That's what multiple playthroughs are for, if you really like the game though.

The praise is mostly for the setting, the many traditional fantasy RPG deconstruction elements and the deeply personal story. It's obviously not for everyone.

Go do the quest chain to become a mage, that's pretty fun.

Well, most people would take BG2 over everything. If you're setting the bar there, you might be a little disappointed.

It's not much of a combat or strategy game. But it has a magnificently imaginative setting and story.

Setting, story, writing, character choice

Work has been brutal so I have not had the chance to play in a couple of days.

I am giving it a chance. The silent King and
all as one
were great.

I had my mind made up to become a mage from day one. The dude who does not *KNOW* himself told me to wait. So I did.

I hear there is someone else who can teach me near where I was given a box nobody wants. I'll go back there today.

The dude that emphasizes things has the best background story stuff.

Android impressions? Would love to play this on my phone if it's OK

I'd like to know as well. I've put off playing through this game for ages but having it on mobile would be awesome.

I bought it today and played for a little bit. Like reading the first dialoges, running around a bit, checking out the controls and doing some battles. It runs and plays fine on my 8" Huawei MediaPad M2. Controlls can get a little fiddly but I can get used to this. I can't imagine playing this on a smaller screen like a smart-phone to be honest. But there are options to adjust text size etc.

Bought it from the German Google Play store for 10,99€. It was 7,99€ when it launched, but maybe that was a price error? Supported languages are English, German, French, Korean and Polish.

This is the third time I started this game. Didn't like it when it was new and a second try with widescreen mods some years ago didn't go beyond 5 hours of playtime. It's maybe a little bit to wordy for me and the battles aren't that great. I am also not a fan of the setting. But the story and characters seem really good and I always wanted to try out a game like this on tablets.

I will play with the stats Sillverrr posted above to get the most out of the dialoges. I'll also play on the easiest setting so that I don't have to worry too much about the fighting. One question about that, because the description is somewhat unclear: Is "1" out of 5 easiest setting or hardest?

Might update my impressions later. Too many games at the moment.

Can't help but draw comparisons with TtoN as I replay this. If this was Numenera, the game would give you half of the plot and probably would explain you
Ravel
or something in this scene.

Deionarra gives you some infos, but they are mostly bits that enhance the mystery, they don't make it clear. You still are completely clueless on what's going on when you step out of the Mortuary.

This is for iPhone too? Anyone brave enough to try that?
Ok, gave it a shot since it downloaded to my phone but I still need to wait on iPad.

Would absolutely not recommend on non-Plus and frankly doubt it's worth dealing with on Plus anyway.

EDIT: To clarify, the icons are too small and detecting you hit them seems to be flaky as hell.

Just finished experiencing the "Longing" sensory stone in the private sanctums of the Civic Festhall.

(end-game spoilers)
I'm really going to enjoy breaking the Practical Incarnation down in a battle of wills. His is a type of evil that is much too common in the real world.

These types of games never work well on mobile, no matter what they do.
iPad mini seems fine so far, though larger would be nice. Perhaps I'd rather deal with PC anyway but I'm still sore over missing the loyalty discount and would rather wait on a ten-some sale there.

I'd easily take Planescape: Torment over anything, including BG2 ;)

Same tbh.

By the way, the inventory screen does not work on the touch screen of my surface book, even though everything else does. It would be pretty convenient to be able to play this in tablet mode. Does anyone know if this is fixable and if not how do I bother the devs about it?

Recently played through the EEs of BG1 and 2, and they still had some annoying bugs even after a million patches, so I'm just gonna wait a year or two for this one

Thanks, about what I expect. Too bad I don't have a tablet

Every time I install it takes about 5 minutes and I get an error that configuration failed. Running on W10. Anyone running into this?

playing through on ipad pro. just as amazing as ever. will probably double dip on pc as well just because. love having this game on the go!

About 5 hours in, spent over 2 hours alone in the Smoldering Corpse Bar. Amazing dialogues. Looks like Beamdog did a good job this time but well, they had some years to refine their engine while fixing up the Baldur's Gate EEs. Tried to get started in the modded original version of PT but still felt kinda clunky measured by today's standards, so I pretty much stopped after a few mins in.

Especially on GOG there are a lot of hatred by some individuals towards Beamdog for "SJW content and forced political agendas", "parasitic behaviour" and being disrespectful to the Baldur's Gate community. While I agree that they should have been more careful with some of the content done to characters in Dragonspear some of those guys posts are absolutely ridiculous. :/

Anyway, is anyone willing to set up an OT for the EE? This game absolutely deserves it but I guess I'm not familar enough with the game. Or maybe I will do it anyway, we will see... any title suggestions?

I'd choose a quote:

Planescape: Torment EE |OT| I have been here before. This time I shall never leave.

Planescape: Torment EE |OT| Time is not your enemy. Forever is.

Planescape: Torment EE |OT| Perfection through punishment.

Planescape: Torment EE |OT| Is Annah still wearing clothes?

Or the simple and 100% accurate:

Planescape: Torment EE |OT| The best game of all time

it begs for "Updated my ________" though
"Updated my journal" was my first thought, it works but it's a bit boring. I like the Dak'kon quote (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have bolded it :P). Seems fitting for a re-release. But Fall-From-Grace's is also good.
The Morte one is a joke, please don't use it.

I remember being so disappointed by Torment when it came out. I loved the Planescape setting so much, and fantasized about a BG2-style game set there. I couldn't wait to make my own characters and play and when I found out I had to play as the Nameless One I was so bummed.

Of course, I did end up liking the game for what it was. I'll probably pick the EE up at some point when it is on sale as I barely remember anything from the story.
