Planet Zoo 2 will be shown soon

For reasons I don't quite understand yet, Frontier's Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo games never grabbed me like Rollercoaster Tycoon (especially the second game) and Zoo Tycoon (the first game). Maybe it's the same reason why Cities: Skylines never grabbed me the way Sim City 3000 or Sim City 4 did.

It's because they are customization games first and manager games second. I like their games, but I wish they tuned the systems to need some management and strategy like the older management games.

I remember briefly trying Planet Coaster, but I was disappointed because it felt too sandbox-ish for me. I like things with freedom and I don't mind sandbox, but to discover a game, having an actual campaign with clear goals etc is more entertaining and easier to get into, rather than just building stuff.

Another thing I always wished games like this had, is a mode where you can actually walk around (as a character, not just a free cam) in your park, to explore it an enjoy it in an immersive way. It doesn't seem like something that should be too hard to implement, so I'm surprised it's never a thing.

I liked Zoo a lot more than Coaster, but what I really want is Safari, so it's more like tending an organic ecosystem.

The breeding mechanic in the latest Jurassic World Evolution allowed you to touch on this a tiny amount, because you could put predator and prey in together and find a sustainable balance, but it still wasn't really built for it.

Some older city builders would lean more in this organic 'gardening' direction rather than strictly 'building', which I always found more engaging.
