thanks lads, successfully shrunk

i havent even come close to replicating my success of 90mins ago, but i'm having considerably more fun

I know the red zone is supposed to be truly random and the idea that people are always there is supposed to be a myth, but goddamn if it doesn't feel true when your town gets bombed four times in a row.

Also I need to learn to peek better or get a better internet connection or something because twice I lost peeking standoffs, once where I died before my ADS view had even moved beyond cover on my side.

Is that really a myth? I have believed in non random red zones the entire time I’ve played...

Been killed 3 times today by the double barrel with at least lvl 1 armor and helmet.

I'm not usin smgs or full auto ar for houses anymore if I come across it.

I've got this awful habit of holding down right mouse to hip fire while strafing in close-quarter fights and it's gotten me killed so many times. I need to just point and shoot.

I doubt it's fully random. Most times I've gotten it in a single game is 5 times consecutively in a row on me/my squad. It's happened a few times that I've gotten it to bomb my area multiple times in a row.

I drove after it yesterday and found a dude just outside of it(when I got there) whom I promptly ran over as his first reaction were to lie down so that I could easily drive him over. When I got to his body he was screaming in his mic about how bad of a player I were and that I was so lucky etc. I love this game :D

I'm pretty sure the red zone is random, since it's sometimes even outside the blue zone. Though the algorithm itself could still be buggy/skewed.

I really don't think stacking red zones should be a thing. Somewhere in the algorithm that spits out random locations for red zones should be something that prevents them from ever occurring in the same place twice in a row.

I was watching that stream for a bit, but missed that part. I will be really bummed if the game becomes too predictable. I don't want games to become purely, run to town, find AR/SR, find scope, snipe. Yeah, that's what I basically what most do / want to do, but I enjoy when matches make you switch up your strategy because all you got was an Uzi. One of the most intense games I had recently was a squad win where we collectively had 1 UMP, 1 Vector, and some shotguns. We got circled bad early and had bad loot at our starting town and no car. We were playing catch up the entire time. By the end of the game, we simply made smart decisions to cover ourselves for close range with shotguns and avoid combat. We ended the game with 1 kill, and it required a completely different play style. We got that chicken dinner though.

I know what you mean, and I've won a few chicken dinners that have come about from games where I started off with shitty loot like a shotgun and level 1 helmet for the first 15 minutes and thought I was going to get melted by the first player I came across. Only to find someone camping in a house, kill them and take their level 3 helmet, 8x scope, med kits, kar98 etc. which turns the game around. That aspect of the game is great, going from nothing to fully decked-out after getting a few strategic kills.

I think the point they were making is that sometimes it's possible to lose an encounter not because of your skill or ability, but because you got out-looted. Although of course that can work both ways.

The best way to get scopes is to murder people, scopes are the thing everyone will always pick up. So if you really need a scope by mid game, murder someone.

The game would be pretty boring if you always got what you wanted

You're right, you shouldn't find a Kar98, level 3 helmet and 8x scopes in the first house you loot, it just needs to be more spread-out I think. Like yesterday I found two 8x scopes, and three 4x scopes amongst a group four houses. Of course I took them all and dumped what I didn't need so no-one else would find them, but I am an arsehole...

This is what happened when I tried to play with an Xbox controller for movement and the mouse for aiming.

https://youtu.be/Nv5dt6NivXs

Stick around to see aerial views of the red zone, a player trying to shoot a Jeep while the Jeep runs him over, a shootout around a house involving 3 people, and the wall of death from 200ft up.

Is the red zone random as in it picks a random area, or random as in it picks a random player?

Similar statements but huge difference.

I *think* it is just completely random entirely. There have been times when as the zone gets smaller areas outside still get bombed at random.

I just plugged my Xbox controller in after the update and it been great.

ADS sensitivity needs a lot of work tho.

They need to have an option to disable though. I leave my pad plugged and it constantly rumbles and gives me controller prompts when I'm using my keyboard.

Are people playing with controllers generally getting their asses kicked? I'm new to PC but starting to get a hang of mouse and keyboard... but man I miss my analog sticks :(

Dang, I just got 8. The hype is real about this game! Really having a blast with this.

I played my first 30ish hours doing a lot of squad games with three randoms. They were a mix of tolerable to good, with only one incident where someone TK'd me for no reason.

I was pretty surprised because for an online game this seemed significantly less negative than I am used to. A lot of random groups were actually looking to cooperate or help me learn the game.

Today, though, I've been team killed 4 times out of maybe 7 games. Three of those by a threesome or duo that didn't talk / interact at all and then suddenly swarmed and killed me. Kind of a frustrating evening. Hoping this was the aberration and not the first 30 hours.

When I play in a duo with my friend we talk via Steam voice chat or team only chat in game.

It is intentional.

Just had one of the funniest experiences in this game. We were trying to cross a bridge that had been blocked. We were getting shot from behind from two teams, and shot from the front as well. We should've been fucking dead (funny enough, we went on to win the game).

Pushing all he way, analog movement is the best thing about the controller.
Creeping slowly and quietly in the house is fab.

So how do you steady aim (hold breath) while aiming? There is a second binding for that and you can change it off of left shift but then you need another button on the gamepad for it.

This new loot is some fuck. Just made #2 solo with NO BACKPACK the whole game. For the life of me I could not find one. However, I know now you really don't need much ammo at all.

For ammo, you need more the larger the teams are. In solo, you don't really need much at all since most encounters are super short.

Playimg on low settings with high draw distance is hilarious, seems like such an advantage over ultra as everything is so bright and clear.

Ah, good advice. I have only played solo (and likely will only play, given my schedule). Good to know though, I do have friends that have the game that one day the stars may align.
