I agree, absolutely amazing system. It kind of suffered from the Sony early lineup drought, but it did have its bases covered with a diverse lineup, something for everybody. That is sorely lacking from this next-gen launch, its primarily cross-gen stuff and little is actually something only seen on PS5/sX. I too waited till march, my first 2 games were Silent Hill 2 and ATV Offroad Racind (Fury?). They were okay, and the OPM demo discs helped alleviate a good bit of boredom whilst helping to showcase what would come. I'll never forget that first year though man, playing MGS2 demo and full game, in the glow of the Christmas lights. Then GTA 3, it was so surreal, almost dreamlike. Life was starting to grow in pace, as I had been working for a few years at that point(was 18). My friends and I still miss Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, it was a damn fine game, with fun progression, incredible gfx, and sexy characters. I'd kill to see Sony bring that back, even if it is Champions of Norrath. I'm stunned they've just sat on it, SOE or whoever. With PS3 and 4 the online landscape is rife for bringing back that co-op experience, couch included. Diablo 3 just didn't do it for my friends and I. We preferred Sacred 1 & 2.
But god damn dude! What they achieved with that console is profound. Great rpgs and survival horror too. I wish I still had my beautiful blue box. IMHO this next gen is really lacking that old gen excitement, mystery and hype. I'm still there and hope for the best, but something is definitely off.
Oh yeah, Timesplitters was amazing, my sister and friends would all hang out for hours playing against the max A.I. possible, typically on that Chinatown map, and we'd make it that infection/zombie mode and we'd try to find the best defense, before most horde mode's existed. Tons of playable characters, options, guns, what a game and series.
