Playstation 4 2.0 Firmware - What do you want to see fixed?

My UI experience has been great. Super smooth and slick. No crashes yet. But if they could make it faster, and NEVER slow down (I've only had it slow when I had 10 downloads going) that would be great.

I'll get tossed out of the game and into the home menus, sometimes many times in a row. It'll have a message saying the network is undergoing repairs. I'd stay in my game as long as I chose.

Also, let me pause downloads.

Fix the manufacturing first if there's a wider problem. If everything's okay now then stability, stability and stability. In that order.

- Needs an option to turn off the LED light on the controller. Watching a movie in the dark. Holy shit at the light! This is a must.

- A progress bar and indications for installing/updating game. Sometimes I'm not even sure what's going on with downloading. One games stuck at the spinning circle installing for a long time so I canceled the install, good thing it auto installs now.

- Touchpad control for the web browser only makes sense.

Basic media playback at least from USB and external drive. Media server capabilities would be nice too.

Doubtful it will happen but MKV support would be a dream come true.

- option to turn the dualshock 4 light off - it serves no purpose if you don't have a camera, just let me turn it off.

While you're at it, let me disable the amber light while in standby mode.

The biggest thing is suspending games like the vita. Should have been there day 1.

Support the PS3 media remote or release the new one. Can't stand using the controller for netflix.

Also give me the option to install everything up front and also a way to see the progress of disc install (some games do this?)

Everything you mentioned plus support for my PS3 wireless stereo headset. Flash support in the web browser. Ability to upload videos to YouTube. And support for the mp4 file format and others.

-support for ps3 pulse/elite headsets
-fix bug where ps4 sometimes goes back to home screen for no reason
-fix bug where sound comes out of hdmi and optical at same time
-dlna support
-3d blu ray support

that's about it really, all pretty minor complaints/improvements that im sure will be fixed with time

You can choose to turn off the controller automatically after 10 minutes in the power save settings.

Keep my game where it is while in standby mode like the vita does. Hell , my vita keeps its place in game when the battery dies.

A lot of small things. I think the major one would be any kind of video player and being able to save game footage locally. Especially all the playroom craziness. My girlfriend and my cats love it :)

Had a problem with mic cutting in and out while something is installing in the background. Probably using the same processor?

I know everyone hates Music Unlimited, but I like it for the $15ish I spent on it for the year awhile back. I just wish the app would load way faster. I think my vita loads the app faster.

Pulse Elite support
Video Playback
Game Sorting/Folders
Ability to lower/turn off the controller light and the stand by light

That's it. Everything else is pretty smooth. Really like the OS so far. It's clearly early with some of the features it's missing but what's there is nice, quick, and functional.

THE ABILITY TO PAUSE DOWNLOADS!

Ps3 can pause DL and I think I have not paused a download n years now. it will be okay to have it though. why would you want to pause DL? (not trolling, legit question)

yep, for $15 that was a great pruchase. I wish sony would do it again. THough they are currently doing $3 for 3 montsh w/c is still great.

- Media playback
- 3D Blu-Ray support (wtf... Why is this missing?)
- Customization options (background, organize content, etc)
- Suspend/resume
- ability to save videos/pics locally or to USB
- Pulse Elite headset support

Later: PS1 emulation so I can download my digital PS1 games

My system seems to randomly act like it pressed the home button by itself. If they could fix it so that I'm not sporadically jumping back to the UI, that'd be great haha.

I know this wont be a top concern, but I was a specially designed UI for IN-GAME.

XBL does it so well.

I want a UI that is more simplified and not as intrusive when playing in-game. Something that pops up from the bottom and has easy-access options we typically want (Friends list, messaging).

One thing I noticed, when you search for friends, it can't search for names that include "this", only names that are exactly "this".

That needs to be fixed.

I posted this in another thread. As a UI designer who focuses on UX this is what I would like to see.

-Arbitrarily throwing people back to the main UI when PSN goes down. Just throw a damn notification on screen and let them continue doing whatever it is they're doing. You really should only be throwing them back to the main UI when PSN being down directly interferes with what they're doing. Period. If I'm in video editing...don't throw me to the main UI just to tell me that shit, just send a notification.

- UI speed is abysmal when you're installing anything. Take a queue from: Apple, Google, MS, etc. You ALWAYS prioritize UI responsiveness at the cost of other performance. Nothing will annoy your user more than the UI coming to a crawl and they start pressing buttons randomly only to get bombarded with all of those input commands being executed when the UI comes back to speed.

- Install/Patching. Why are we still having to download something then confirm to install? Assume we want whatever we downloaded installed as well....just assume it Sony ffs.

- Last played Tiles. Oh my gaaawd as I scroll this long as fuck list of last played tiles I wonder how the hell this was approved. Why don't you guys put two/three rows instead of one long ass row? Who is your UX designer because he failed right here. One long row works on a phone but dear god is it dumb on a TV with a controller.

- Why are friends and message even separate categories? Party Chat I can understand but friends and messages can totally be consolidated and makes the most sense.

- Games need to be a category all games you've bought/installed can be managed from there to include managing saves/DLC/install data instead of a library app. I can't be the only one who thinks that. And there needs to be a separate category for Entertainment that would house the video player/mp3 player, apps, etc.

- Trophies can totally go under user category.

- I like the notification pane but there needs to be more information. Like at least tell people when a game is finished installing if they're not actively in the game. Playing NBA 2K14 if I go back to the UI I didn't know when the game had finished installing I had to go back in the game to check then leave again. Make all achievements context sensitive so if I hit the home button when notification shows up regardless of how stupid the notification is, pressing home will take me there.

- What's New really should just be a category itself, and renamed (I sent Sony the suggestion of "PSN Life" or something equally cheesy). I'm mostly saying that because I actually had the What's New app crash on me, just make it a full blown social network, they're already half way there. Can I get some timestamps on this?

-Your game is being suspended. Okay stop telling me this shit for EVERYTHING dear god. I mean I watch UI videos done by Sony and I rarely see that notification pop up. I see videos by gamers and it's everywhere. Double tap home and go to Netflix...we're going to suspend your game...okay? Suspend it fuuuck man.

-How the fuck do you have game suspension and resuming in while I'm in the OS but for some reason you can't get this working for standby? Weird.

-Game information panel? Get rid of it. Other than file size most of the information you give us is fucking pointless.

-The look of the UI seems...so like the UI of a complicated toy.

3D Blu-Ray support. That's top of my list.

It already supports it doesn't it? I thought the XB1 didn't have support

Edit: two things that bug me at the moment
1. Give us option to customize background and themes
2. When suspending a game you don't have to tell me

Edit2: also when I have 50ganes on my HDD are they all gonna just be randomly placed on the screen. I don't get how games will be organized. Add some kind of grouping system

Somebody should compile all the issues that have come up in this thread after one day, and then send it to Yoshida. That way the things people feel are important get fixed sooner!

Why? Isn't it better to not have to learn two different interface schemes? Why is it "intrusive"?

I think MP4 media playback (video and audio), sorting options, and better download / installing options + feedback are the top items for me.

I don't have mine till the 29th but from what I here from you guys
- Themes & Wallpaper
- Photos ( Photo Album much like the Xperia's with touch pad pinch zoom & Album editing/sorting but PS4 themed)
XperiaSICSFirmware_29.png
When I say pinch zoom I don't mean just to zoom in & out of a photo but the actual Album itself so it's easier to find photos
- Music (with in-game music obviously, CD playback if possible)
- Video ( should support all major codecs, MP4, AVI(DivX/Xvid) MPG2, MKV etc)
And my love for Sonys Xperia app's continues so I'd like something similar, I like the way it pull's info & cover art for films/TV shows & even sorts season together & shows a previews above ( yes that not a picture of Spidy, it's video preview) & seeking via the touch pad....nice.
- PSone Digital BC ( as disc if possible )with 1080p Native Rendering & Texture Filtering & AA ( one can dream can't he)
- Web Browser Touch control.
- External Device Support ( USB Sticks, HDD, Phone, Camera)
And for you guys
- Game Library sorting
- Separate Library for App's

And never gonna happen is
- PS2 Digital & Disc BC with 1080p Rendering & AA
- PS3 Digital & Disc BC
I hope some of you like my wishlist, this to me would make the PS4

I want to be able to pause downloads. I also want the ability to tell it to automatically shut off once downloads are complete.

Really need to redo the UI altogether.

Yup. After messing around with the system all day I've come to the conclusion that the UI is just plain awful.

This so much. I was telling my brother about how jarring it was to exit the game for basic functions. The in game guide for 360 is glorious compared to how PS4 handles such simple things.
