Playstation 4 Pro 80's commercial.

I'm not really basing my opinion off of the narrative on here though. I worked in retail and sales for many years and I feel confident in saying that I would have a hard time justifying this to John Smith who wants a PS4.

I'm not hoping the PS4 Pro fails, I just want to see Sony do a better job of explaining it outside of 4K support.

This is BS & you know it. you worked in retail but you don't know how to sell a product that basically sales it's self? lol

All they have to do is see the word Pro & they will know it's different & if they ask you what's the difference all you have to say is that it has over twice the processing power & support for 4K gaming & video playback.

why is this so hard for you?

Your username tells me everything I need to know =)

How hard is it for someone to understand that the pro is a better version of the ps4 at $100 more. I just compare it to the iPhone 6 and 6s and everyone has gotten it. We have had the same products at different price points for decades this is really only new for consoles.

Sigh.

I've posted about this plenty of times, but we've had no issues explaining this device to customers.

It's a more powerful ps4, that will offer updates to all games going forward, snd okay all games from before with no issues. If you've seen any iPad change, you'll understand this product. It offers 4k streaming, and a mixture of graphical options between native 4k games and high end graphics at 1080p. Anyone will benefit, no matter what set you have.

I don't understand how you can still think this is so difficult for us to explain to people. It's extremely simple.

Honestly. Are people being willingly obtuse?

I think the problem people have, using you iPhone comparison, is that some of the apps already released will have updates to take advantage of the 6s but some won't. It's really difficult for some people to grasp that.

Dumb.

Sony wasn't even around in the 80s so the idea that this ad would play on nostalgia is completely ridiculous.

Plus isn't this VCR fake tracking effect getting old now? How many games and trailers used it at this point?

uh sony was around in the 80s, unless you are referring to them being a game company at the time. man some of you take shit way to seriously.

People are being obtuse now talking about "I'm not sure how I'll sell this to someone."

Yeah right.

seriously average consumer sees that for 100 dollars more they have a better console than the current ps4 lol. not sure why people think this is a hard sell. value and additional power on all future games going forward and it works with all existing ps4 games now.

My sarcasm meter well and truly worn-out.

They really are but it's strange that so many people act like they are so confused about a more powerful console that can play games & videos in 4K while there is also so many people who are saying that they only wanted the PS4 Pro for UHD Blu-ray.

Like do they really believe that UHD Blu-ray playback is a easier sale than more powerful PS4 with 4K gaming & 4K video streaming?

Either sarcasm, your you honestly think Sony only came into existence with Playstation

I'll accept full responsibility for not wording my responses as accurately as I thought I did. I worked in retail for many years, and found that I did well due to heavily researching the products I worked with. With that said, I was passionate about what I was selling and cared enough to do that research. I do not personally believe that everyone working sales at stores like Gamestop and Best Buy care as deeply about products they sell. As a result, it's up to Sony's marketing to help get that message across.

I noted that with PS4 Pro, I haven't seen anything in that ad, on Sony's product page, or even on retailer websites (like Best Buy) that really drove home how the PS4 Pro can improve games outside of 4K and HDR. While the personal marketing pitch you provided is quite honestly great, that's not what Sony is saying with their marketing.

At best, Gamestop's product page for the PS4 Pro has a tagline stating that features and benefits vary based on the display you have. There is another tagline which states that you can check the Playstation Store for specifics on the specifics game by game. It's worth nothing that all of that information is near the bottom of the product page listed in the "See more below" section.

You are a gamer who has the time and interest to browse and post on NEOGaf, so it follows suit that you have the interest and time to research the PS4 Pro. Without people like you, I don't think that Sony has done a good job of marketing the benefits of the PS4 Pro. That's not "people" being obtuse, that's my opinion based on what I've seen.

Maybe but even some phone games won't see a difference when you upgrade. I haven't had anyone really get confused by the system. It's just an upgraded PS4 it's not difficult to grasp.

Jokes aside, this commercial doesn't try to play into "nostalgia". It's just making fun of those 80s stereotypes you see on the television coupled with a CoD Zombies theme.

What a fun and zany commercial! So much hate in this thread, jaysus LIGHTEN UP and enjoy the amazing games and gaming options we have in this day and age!

I am sure Sony has given more information to retailers about what the system is and how it will help along with a pitch sheet. Even working in Walmart briefly the electronics section would get a little fact sheet that we could check out on upcoming hardware at least around the time of the Wii launch.

I don't see the 80s connection unless they're cribbing off the NES Classic Playing with Power promo?

Difference is Nintendo ran a new take on a classic campaign. This is just dumb and doesn't sell the Pro in any meaningful way (wow such power)

So so salty.

Please round up the dozens of others in the world who have a problem with that ad so you can make a petition.

World's most powerful console. Well that was easy. Now that the monumental task of pro messaging is put to rest we can get back to pretending how important a uhd drive is.

world's most powerful console, only for a year.

Correct mate, but they totally jeopardize Scorpio's tag line with that, which I asume was supposed to be "most powerful in the world / ever". Now that Sony played that fiddle it's kinda burned for MS. Just imagine Hillary trying to promote her candidacy with "Yes, we can, too!". MS has to come up with something else now. Classic mean Sony move ;).

Ahh, so it's an ad highlighting the Infinite Warfare zombie mode, which is a tribute to 80's culture. Makes sense.

I love the 80's, but this didn't do all that much for me.
