Correct mate, but they totally jeopardize Scorpio's tag line with that, which I asume was supposed to be "most powerful in the world / ever". Now that Sony played that fiddle it's kinda burned for MS. Just imagine Hillary trying to promote her candidacy with "Yes, we can, too!". MS has to come up with something else now. Classic mean Sony move.
I think the line will still work for MS. The problem for Ms is that the pro makes that leap to a 4k friendly image output. The Scorpio will supposedly do that better with real native 4k but as of now it seems like the difference will be extremely hard to demonstrate.

sony's been calling Ps4 "the world's most powerful console". found a source here from last year but I feel like they've been doing it since 2013.And what's with the other three years we had now with PS4?

Going from the first couple pages people don't seem to get it. Seems like it's an advert more for CoD Zombies with the Pro thrown in there too, the 80s theme being because of the zombies map more than anything else. I suspect the pro will be their default console in their advertising from now on, or at least their main focus.
They already do, they have "the UKs best selling console" with 2014-2015 underneath on a bunch of buses and signs I've seen. Which if you ask me is a reasonable amount of time to be able to say such a thing...
The Pro can do "real" native 4K. The checkerboard rendering to output a 4K image is for games that can't be done native so it tries to get a similar quality image using a different method. If developers want to do 4K native games though they can and a few games have already been announced to be.

I was going to upgrade, but last nite my pspoor awoke from what appeared to be a console coma so... I'm going to hold onto that 400.

If any consumer can understand the concept of price differential of an iphone 6 to 6s for all the bells and whistles and upgrade worthiness, this is a no brainer

I ain't making no standards. Consoles have always lasted for at least 3 years before having a successor on the market. When was a console ever replaced in a year?

those consoles were all a part of the same generation, as the scorpio is supposed to be with the pro. and if sony boasted the same thing back then, I would've made the same comment back then, too.

It's really not an issue. When Scorpio comes out, "most powerful console" becomes "most powerful PlayStation" and not much changes.

I don't recall seeing that slogan with the Ps3 or 360 last gen, but in any case it doesn't change what I think of it. A console in any given generation is supposed to last for several years. If it is outmatched within a year, then calling it the most powerful doesn't have much meaning.

consoles having a successor within a year like phones and tablets? i'm pretty sure that never happens with consoles outside of redesigns and stuff like that. and even redesigns and repackaging that only happens once every few years. as raw hardware goes, I don't think anything's annual with consoles
well, PS4 has been most powerful console for last 3 years, and it will be for at least one more... so 4 years. Not bad.
i don't even know what we are talking about here now...the scorpio isn't a playstation.

Fun ad. People thinking Sony needs to make any effort to sell PS4 Pro. Its right there in the name: its the PS4 with more power and that is the only thing people need to know. They don't need to know if it renders 4K or not, if it has HDR and all that, it is simply the world's most powerful console. That's all they need.

I thought it was weird but I don't care for COD much and I disliked the previous zombie modes. The ad could be different enough to make people curious about PS4Pro.

So Xbox Scorpio shouldn't use most powerful console ever made at the end of 2017 because someone could make a more powerful console in 2018 or 2019?
Hell Sony could release PS4 ProX2 next year with more power than the Scorpio & never give them the chance to claim the most powerful console ever made so MS might as well fire the marketing team & tell them it's no use in marketing the Scorpio because someone might make a more powerful console after them. SMH
