It'll be my first Playstation console, too, but I had mine pre-ordered within minutes of their E3 show.
The only reason i haven't pre-ordered, or getting the console at launch is that i'm not sure whether i'll have any money anytime soon. And if i do, other expenses first.
And that i'll want to hear about hardware reliability first.
But if i don't get the console right away, i reckon i'll open PS+ account and redeem games as they are offered, that way i'll have a small library of games by the time i get the console, assuming PS+ will stay as it is.

Anyway, I am pretty satisfied with the PS4 so far. I would like to see a handful of more compelling first party titles though to be really satisfied; I still feel like they're holding back on that front when they could still use one or two major games to get people excited for the PS4's future.

And dat controller. I don't like the previous dual shocks that much. For whatever annoyed me about 360 that I eventually became a PS3 convert, I can't deny that the 360 controller was just a lot better.
The new PS4 controller looks to have addressed a lot of what I don't like, and I love the touchpad.
And while "the console not being enormous with a list of requirements ranging from hardware to software for me to be allowed to use it" and "being able to buy games and have some form of value in my games moving forward" may be things I always took for granted, it's now a major selling point. Call me old fashioned.

Does Destiny actually have an exclusivity period? I thought it was just getting console specific content.

I was at gamestop today and they said they got their launch amount raised twice already. They still had a bunch of preorders left and they already had 30 preordered.
Even if they are sold out keep checking.

I don't think this should be called a satisfaction thread. We don't need to block out any negativity.
Four platforms? Xbone, PS4, PC..? or are we talking PS3 and 360? I had no idea that it was for old gen consoles too. If that's the case, the fact that the next gen version looks so next gen is more impressive.

PS4, PS3, Xbone, Xbox 360.
Cross-gen, no PC version confirmed, i think it is unlikely (perhaps later?).
EDIT presumably no cross-platform play of any sort.

I purchased my PS3 on launch and it is still going strong right up to the release of PS4.
Still reading all PSOne & PS2 games.
The controller feels great and the triggers are an improvement over the DS3.

It was the future of Video Games and I wanted to be on that future train. I just can't justify the purchase of this next Xbox when the future they envision is so different from where I want to go.

There are rumors that it will be the same content plan as BF4; You receive missions and other DLC first, Xbox gets it later.
Just a rumor, though.
I could bet you'll receive a special cape or weapon specific to Playstation, though!

Yeah, it's crazy the game looks so fantastic despite being cross-gen. Maybe they gave up the current gen versions or something? I don't know. I know when it was announced it was for current gen consoles. The footage in their reveal trailer many months ago (despite being only 5 or 6 seconds of gameplay) looked garbage compared to this incredible new gameplay demo we have.

Interesting how they could push you away and i am sure you are not alone, i was there for launch on first Xbox and 360, I am a gamer and as such i tend to eventually purchase all consoles.
