This thread might feel like a Digg-redux, but I found a link to a pretty nice collection of PlayStation advertising (both images and videos) and felt like sharing: see here.

Some of them are quite delicious indeed (especially the PS2 ones).

I love stuff like this.

I mean, I don't have huge respect for the people that do it, or the intentions behind it. (Chris Cunningham stuff fits more in that bracket), but I quite like seeing minging stuff.

I like going to the Tate Modern every few months for this reason. There's always something there that takes the absolute piss but has still been sold for a quarter of a mill.

It's fun.

Haha no, sorry, I'm not a viral marketer for Sony®, although I do work in advertising - spit on me - and look for creative ads (hence how I found this blog). The PlayStation® brand just happens to be a pretty good source of them. Nothing more.

That one's so great. Another one that's stuck in the mind is that one of the girl whose head had been morphed to look like an alien. That one was a full on public meme back when it came out with people discussing whether or not it was real and the press trying to track down the model.

Also given the current situation I find it hilarious that the PS2's European (maybe elsewhere, I'm not sure) slogan was "welcome to the Third Place."

SCEE had some really nice ads for PS2. I havent seen that many for PS3 yet though, apart from the ones that are on PSN.

Sony is in its own division when it comes to ads.

Somebody post the "White is coming" campaing. I loved that one.
