Looking again at the video, is it just me or the characters look poorly detailed and low poly?
Maybe she's supposed to be "simplistic" looking, but they could have added a lot more to her design. There's no excuse, specially when you compare it to this, which was done in hardware considerably less powerful:
YES. They were synonymous with Playstation back in the day. ;__;
Probably a question for creative game developers rather than forum goers.
No doubt that this game will do things better than Smash Bros. Online, textures, stuff on screen. But if people are being as objective as they claim, this is another in a long line of humorous attempts of Sony to capture the magic of one of Nintendo's franchises.
And part of it is Nintendo's fault for leaving the door wide open for that kinda stuff. If they had a perfectly implemented online for Brawl, less people would be saying, "Hey, I wish Sony/MS would rip-off Smash Bros, so we can actually play it online."
Hopefully they learn.
That would be awesome, I hope something like this is revealed at E3, can you imagine fighting on top of the moving train!
Like I've already said a few days ago in a different thread:
The flaming and trolling from the Nintendo fans will be hilarious as soon as this game will be shown.
And I was right.
Even some mods here are doing their best, as I can see.
Way to go!

I think the characters themselves look to fit in the same universe, but the all encompassing haze along with the dull color palette makes it look kinda unappealing. They even managed to make Ratchet's stage all grimdark when I remember that place being very vibrant.
I guarantee this game would look 100x better on a clear, bright Jouney level, for example.
It would be awesome if they put some Uncharted stage on this. Just imagine the train level in Uncharted 2.
I really hope you are kidding.I played all the Killzone games and I had no clue who "Radec" was until I saw him lol
They should have just used a generic helghast solider, then they could easily give them different costumes.
But instead they are stuck with Radec..........

The Buzz stuff seems like it would be straight up annoying in action.
Does anyone have suggestions for niche characters Sony could use?

I'm surprised how poor (visually) and uninspired (well, more like too inspired) this looks, but it could be fun. Unfortunately, my Power Stone itch remains unscratched.
I'm thinking you watched a low-res TV airing and then rewatched a "HD" recording of that low-res TV airing.Looking again at the video, is it just me or the characters look poorly detailed and low poly?

The low quality stream makes it hard to judge. I'll wait for HD direct feed videos.
That's...your problem? Radec and Visari are memorable. The rest aren't.I played all the Killzone games and I had no clue who "Radec" was until I saw him lol

Final boss is Mario which leads to the inevitable Smash Bros X All Stars crossover game.

What approach do you think the game should have taken? In terms of art style and gameplay.

Please have guess starts, maybe someone from say a game where people fight on the street, perhaps a stoic Japanese dude in karate uniform as well as another character from a fighting series where people, fight to the death, you could say they fought in mortal combat perhaps?

So confirmed characters-
Parappa
Sly
Fat Princess
Drake
Kratos
Who else is in?
Won't be them. It is no longer 'back in the day'. And that makes me sad.

Well, it's still too early to say if this dev can also pull off the game online. Of course, it'd be hard to do it WORSE than Brawl, but still.
And part of it is Nintendo's fault for leaving the door wide open for that kinda stuff. If they had a perfectly implemented online for Brawl, less people would be saying, "Hey, I wish Sony/MS would rip-off Smash Bros, so we can actually play it online."
We're really going to need a "Playstation All-Stars vs. Smash Bros garbage thread" pretty soon. Otherwise, every PSAS thread in the future is going to be filled with this garbage.
Guys, the muted look of the game is due to the terrible GTTV quality of the encode. It makes all games look like shit every single time. Have some people not realized this yet?
Wait for better quality footage, like I said, hopefully they release a trailer so we get to see how it looks properly and not all washed out.
Nice video description. The salt is flowing strongly there.
Playing Brawl online is like watching a live stream of a slideshow.
I don't know, really. A crossover game can literally be anything, but they just happened to make it look almost the same as the 10 million selling Nintendo version.
