PlayStation Indie Showcase in a Half-Hour

Think I have watched the drifter trailer a few dozen times at this point. I love exploration in games, and getting to do it in space is even better. I'm really curious about customization, and how much space there is to roam around in.

Game had shot up to my top 5 most anticipated ps4 games.

Sony had better come big with the 'AAA' games at E3 otherwise the 'Indiestation 4' jibes will have some credence to them.

Indiestation 4.

Also, they sent out a press release last week stating they were done the "AAA" game because of over inflated budgets. Keep up with the news.

I agree. We need more AAA games like the Amazing SuperMan 2. Who needs indies when we can have AAA games like that one?

And to be quite honest I couldn't care less about the console wars bullshit regarding indies. Last gen XBox Live Arcade was the best thing since slice bread for some and overrated to the others. Now the roles reversed like they often do on the console wars.

What I really care is that indies bring the variety that "AAA" games simply can't offer. And since when is variety a bad thing? Also the indies are the reason why the PS4 have a new release every week during the launch window instead of a 2 new games per month. As a consumer I want games, lots of them no matter the color pallette, genre or budget and if they are good I will buy them.

if you are a small developer and don't have the capacity to develop both at once, or the money to survive sitting on one version while you finish the other, then you don't have the luxury to choose which you'd 'rather' release on.

Choice is fine. The MS parity clause reduces choice. Free unity and access to dev kits should be enough incentive for MS to get first release.
It only reduces choice if you believe developers have some innate right to selfpublish on any and all platforms. I do not believe that. They've been given a new choice, but it comes with negatives. It's MS's platform, they can do as they please.

Happy to hear people are excited for the game :)

There will be a number of different ship hulls which are geared towards different activities in game (combat, mining, exploration, transport, etc.) but you can also further customize them with different engines, weapons, jump drives, etc. As for the space the beta currently has 20,000 star systems and I'm currently working on adding some other non-system areas to explore at the moment.

I actually have a list of what the game has currently, what's planned for 1.0 and then some ideas for updates after that over here if you were interested in checking it out: http://celsiusgs.com/drifter/wiki/Development_Roadmap
