Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

so this Gskyace fellow, someone I know on a Chinese gaming forum (a9vg), was yesterday's World Champion in the Archery event and he's bragging about it... there was only 9 ppl in total on the leaderboard... :lol :lol :lol :lol

edit: shit...my bad... i made a mistake... the leader board only displays 9 ppl on one page but there were actually more than 20,000 ppl in total. so he's got the right reason to brag i guess... although now he's dropped to the 2nd place on the board...

Can someone help me? I have no idea how to properly calibrate "the Shoot". It says shoot the targets with T... does this mean I have to point my Move to the targets and shoot? There is no crossair and they are off the screen so I have no idea where I'm suppose to hold the controller...

Yup, just point to the general vicinity of the targets and shoot. Then it will give you a crosshair after both targets.

Good idea about having Sports Champions/Tumble threads. I'll get on that tonight. :D

I got the move and nav controllers yesterday and thats it. Tried some the demos and only liked tumble but i cant really see myself playing that for that long.

So the only thing I've been playing is RE5. I have to say that Move in RE5 is everything I expected it to be. It's great. Definitly had a lot of fun playing it.

Although I feel like I'm missing part of the Move experience because RE5 only uses just a fraction of what Move is capable of. I want to get Sports Champions but 40 bucks seems like a lot for what it is and I just spent a lot on the Nav and Move. Hopefully there will be a lot of unsold/used copies that i can pick up for cheap soon.

Ok, this Move thing is really awesome. I guess it's a mix of the precision with the graphics of the PS3 that make it a lot more approachable than my Wii which collects dust until a big ticket game comes out.

The idea of motion control as an additional controller instead of a whole other console that I need to purchase is something I appreciate as well.

Judging by the demo, I'll probably end up grabbing Tumble. It's a great demo for how Move handles depth.

Aim the controller at the targets, there won't be a cross hair. I'm pretty sure that is the bit where the positioning of the crosshair is worked out. So just point the controller at the targets and shoot with the T.

I've found there is one thing wrong with Move which is actually kind of a good thing: I really want more content for it because it feels so nice to play with.

There is a patch that makes it Move compatible, so yeah. At least in europe it's available, don't know for other territories.

Thanks, im in the states and I just went to start the game and low and behold 2.0 patch is up. Dont get why PS+ didnt download it for me.

Between Sports Champions, Tumble and High Velocity Bowling (Hopefully soon) I should be satisfied for the next little while but now I'm excited to hear what's next. I'm more interested in both Killzone 3 and Socom than I was before Move.

You do know the sc leader board is having server side issues right??

The white square they tell you to stand on.

Which as you can see I am unable to fit into, since the distance is small.

So you're saying that it doesn't really matter if you're perfectly centered or angled during calibration?

You are indeed a bit too close for Sports Champions but it seems your shoulder fits the frame so you should be able to calibrate regardless of your head not being in the frame.

What error are you getting and at what step exactly?

Edit - Protip: If you have some space between the TV and the wall behind it try to find a way to have the Eye placed near the wall instead of on top of the TV to gain some extra distance. If you have a shelf or a central speaker on the wall, try placing the camera on it.

I hate that I have to wait till Monday to play MAG Move....

wish they would have left a server open to celebrate the Move Launch weekend. :D

Which makes him laughing at the guy even better.

i don't even think its that funny because according to that. The guy is no.1

anyhow, woke up half an hour earlier and my body is sore like I just spent the day in the gym. Go Gladiator Duel. The upper echelon fights are insane.

Sports Champions is worth 40 bucks.

yup you really have wait and decide where to hit, whacking a guy on top of his head is fun :D

I keep the Move controller pointed directly at the TV and move it in front of the targets when playing The Shoot. Actually aiming at them gave me a really weird calibration but just moving it like you would at a fair works well for me. Actually like the game after getting it set up properly. Problem is, unless I'm with my friends spinning around is pretty awkward to do alone.

Absolutely, I was expecting a Wii Sports experience from SC but it has a TON to do. Lots of cool twists in each sport, unlocks, and every sport is really fun. I thought Volleyball was gonna be one I didn't like but it is fun too.

Let's not forget it's also FORTY DOLLARS. Sony could've easily made their first-party Move games full retail price at launch.

BUY SPORTS CHAMPIONS.
BUY SPORTS CHAMPIONS.

can't emphaise just enough how great a game it is. I'd say Jim's GAF review and its 91% score nailed it. Its so damn good

Had 3 friends over last night, I think we had the most fun with Bocci ball and Start the Party (surprisingly) it was really awesome party play, good times and a lot of laughs.

I don't understand why the pointer in Sports Champion's menu feels so much better than the pointers in the Shoot and Time Crisis and... well, every other game. And the motion controls in general in that and Start the Party are like five steps ahead of all the other demos, which are all a bit laggy and get desynched pretty easily.

I need to move some stuff around to I can properly try out Sports Champions. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I was wondering that myself. The pointer at the sports champions menu is like move motion + compared to how shit it was in time crisis.

My pointer in SC is always offset from where I feel I'm actually pointing on the screen, but the motion itself is very good and responsive.

Played some more tonight and had a blast with Gladiators, Table Tennis, Frisbee Golf, and Bocce. Frisbee and Table Tennis are the standouts for me, so responsive and accurate.

I especially like the combination of measurements being used in Frisbee because they're using the gyros/mag. to do the angle of your hand, but the height of the on-screen hand is obviously determined by tracking the ball with the camera, because if you cover the ball up so the camera can't see it the tracking of the height gets janky.

Table Tennis is equally impressive and once I got into the groove I hardly wanted to stop playing it. I can't wait to get some friends over to play together on that one.

Seriously though, are my controllers broken. They've been charging for a combined total of like 9 hours today and still aren't charged. The blink isn't a steady blink though, it's a slightly longer blink followed by two shorter blinks, is that some kind of error code?

I have been experimenting with PS Move all day. My first impressions are that I'm very impressed. I think Sony, even though late to the motion controller party, has delivered the best motion control solution for this generation of consoles. I own a Wii and while I don't own a Kinect, I have played with the PC version of the Kinect technology, so I'm familiar with what it can do. PS Move is best of both worlds: it has the most sensitive and most accurate motion controllers (with buttons!) and a camera. The Nintendo solution with no camera and the Microsoft solution with no controller fall short of the PS Move experience and will ultimately allower fewer unique gaming experiences.

Game experiences:

Sports Champions - This has to be a must buy for anyone buying a PS Move. Wii Sports is what made tens of millions of people buy Wii's (heck it made me buy 2 - one for me and one for my parents). In my view Sports Champions is a cleary superior game. While my parents loved Wii Sports, I got bored of it in less than a month. It's very well done, but after a while you realize that Wii Sports is all about doing simple hand movements, not actual athletic moves. With PS Move and Sports Champions the motion controller allows you to use actual athletic skill to perform more realistic actions (Don't get me wrong, PS Move still isn't the same as actually playing the game in Real Life, but it is much closer than any other console). Table Tennis has become my favorite mini-game in Sports Champion. It feels really good and makes you work up a sweat. I can see it being part of my cardio excercise program in the future :)

Tumble - Also very well done. Stacking blocks takes a great deal of precision, which the PS Move shows off nicely. It's a game that also cry's out for a 3D version, as I can only imagine how cool it would be in 3D where you can perceive depth.

R.U.S.E. demo - I was very impressed with how easy it was to play this RTS using the PS Move. I play all my RTS or strategy games on the PC, since the mouse & keyboard is so superior to a gamepad. PS3 Move (main controller + nav controller) made for much easier camera and cursor control in R.U.S.E. This could be the start of something big for RTS & strategy games for the PS3.

Yeah, if you bought a Move and didn't get Sports Champions and are feeling like you're missing software, YOU ARE! Get Sports Champions. It THE game to get right now. Definitely worth $40.

I'm willing to entertain the idea of MLB 11 supporting movie. :D

I thought that was basically already confirmed for the next installment. I was actually thinking about that today. You could do some really cool stuff with like a Move Only Mode. I was just picturing hitting, actually just holding the Move Controller out to bunt. Pitching could be cool to actually throw the pitches. I also thought that defending could be fun with holding the Move down to the ground for ground balls and above your head to catch fly balls.

Heck, if they could achieve everything defensively from like a First Person Angle that would be incredible. HOWEVER, still include the classic gameplay itself with a Dual Shock controller.

I dont know if anyone posted this, but the Toy Story 3 update is now up to add Move Support. There is like a shooting gallery on the Game Board now that you can access if you have your Move Controller plugged in. I haven't played it yet but the impressions are it is basic, but probably fun for kids.

I upgraded my Eyepet today (imported it from Europe) and this game is a ton of fun right now. Again, I have 3 and 6 year old daughters, but they messed with it ALL DAY LONG. If you played the previous Eyepet version where you had to use the card with the Playstation Eye, you would realize it was so frustrating and crappy to play.

Now, the game is playable and actually a lot of fun to play with the family. My daughters and I really were having loads of fun. It is so much more responsive and has a really nice quality of augmented reality when it comes to all the devices you use.

If you have small children, in my opinion this is THE game to get. So many different many games and activities, children are going to eat it up. Only problem is that there are no voiceovers for "missions" and tasks so I had to sit and read everything to my daughter to tell her what to do.

Also, Sports Champions is just killer. I had to quit towards the end of just the Bronze Cup last night in Table Tennis after my shoulder popped for like the 5th time, and I am talking seriously loud shoulder pops. Table Tennis is a game where you know what you want to do when you play it in real life. You know how to put spin on the ball and you know where you want to hit it, but it is extremely difficult to execute what you want to do in a REAL game of Table Tennis.

The Sports Champions Version is so great cause I can actually do what I want to do while playing without worrying about hitting the ball 20 feet behind the table. It makes me feel like a Table Tennis Bad Ass without losing one ping pong ball.

The good gaming high I'm on from shifting between Sports Champions, Tumble, and Flight Controls all day (and my wife messing with EyePet) was nearly ruined by trying the TV Superstars demo.

Whoever designed that character/animation system...they can't be of this earth. No human would be capable of such malfeasance.
