Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

OK I received my Move starter pack today. And I have played all the Demos that come with the starter pack. For me the Move tech has been incredible and precise. Tumble is a great showcase of how precise the 3D movement is for the Move controller. Also I loved the augmented reality in Eyepet and Start the Party (never had an eyetoy before). Table Tennis in Sports Champion is leagues ahead of Table Tennis for Wii Sports Resort. This controller delivers, it's like the controller I thought Wii was originally supposed to be like. I am now waiting for a killer app for the Move.

I am now extremely excited about The Fight man... Pleas please SONY throw money at that game, I cant imagine a better way to show off the move than with that doing both body tracking and using move for more precise punching. It would just be incredible achievement

It's good to hear that Move support is really good in MAG.

However-

This is something I've always dreaded. The beauty of FPS on a console was that every single person had the exact same controller. Everyone was on equal ground.

Now, you throw Move into the mix, and if it's the same degree of difference as mouse/keyboard against controller, Move players will absolutely dominate. That is a huge turnoff for people who either don't like using Move, don't have Move, or can't afford Move.

Not happy with how this is going.

No they weren't. With devices such as the FRAGnStein, Splitfish and even a device that allows you to plug in a mouse and keyboard you were never on equal ground.

Those devices were still just trying to emulate a controller.

I actually think The Fight will suck. I watched Greg Miller IGn play it and its just whack whack whack. No super combos, no technique. I'd like to be proven wrong. Go find the youtube. It looks really dull

Not really planning on getting the Move anytime soon but, if the time comes I had a question. How long is the cord for the PS Eye? I have a home theater set up with a projector and the PS3 is like pretty far away from the wall with the projector screen.

OK, so I'm going to break down and buy the Playstation Eye clip so I can attach it to my TV, maybe.

My TV stand is quite high, probably at least 3 feet (I have very young children, so it's by design). And on top of that I have my Sony SXRD 50' unit which adds another 3 feet+ or so. Together, it's got to be at least 6' 2 inches, substantially higher than I am or anyone else in the house (wife, kids).

The problem with putting it at the bottom of the unit is that the base of my TV is solid, so the cable has to run in front of the TV, and I don't have much space in the front to have the cable not be kinked, which is making the PSeye not be looking straight forward.

So, is it a major no-no to have the PSEye on top of the TV that hight and aimed downwards in the center of the unit?

What's the best approach?

Don't think there is any problem having it up high in my case

here is My move review:

Setup:

Basement room, no natural light, 4 neon type recessed ceiling light bulbs, 1080p ceiling mounted Projector, 100 '' Wall screen Couch about 12 feet from the screen.

PS Eye camera mounted on top of the screen (about 6 inches from the ceiling 8'') about 12 feet of usb cable to the ps3 which is in the living room. Camera has no problem seeing the move controller downward trough the Projector light. Works well with full or dim ceiling lights.
Eye Lose the move controller if out of the eye range , no problem for the kids , I have to be careful with my movements(no arms above my head, anyway if obscure the projector view).

Eyepet is 10 times easier to play with the move controller than the original cardboard. My kids (girl 5 and boy 7)are playing it for the moment, I had to trick the system a bit because it want the camera much closer to the ground, I calibrated mid air instead of the ground but once calibrated works really fine.

Tumble Demo, no problem whatshowever playing sitting on my couch, move controller is very precise (1-1)
Can't wait to try RE5 which should work really well, will try a completely dark room for that one

Sport champions works fine as well if I excentrate my position a little bit or my arms go through the projector beam, kids are fine in the center of the room, that game needs a lot of space to play, I hope people playing in the living room are not too close to the screen, played Volleyball(really fun) and gladiators(so so) Ping pong great as well and bocce (very hard). The kids love the gladiator event.

Demos tried:
Start the party, my kids love it but I don't want to pay 40$ for this game
Time Crisis: works great not my type of game

will try the rest later

That's the game I'm anticipating the most. In the right hands this game will shine, what I mean by this is people actually wanting to throw correct punches and waiting for openings to punch and counter punch, not just swing with reckless abandonment. Using 2 moves 1:1 in Gladiator Duel and seeing gamescon 1:1 video of The Fight: Lights out I can't wait because its progressing well, 1:1 movement as well as gestures.

This, they need to bundle a game with just a Move, I could do with another Move controller for 2 player games and games that can be played with 2 moves.

I could see them doing a Start the Party/Move Controller bundle sometime down the road. Maybe during their usual Spring-time push.

I think Seph mentioned earlier how there's a bug with The Shoot where no crosshair will appear after calibration, well I loaded up the demo to try again and i experienced this. But I experienced it like 5 times, with quitting back to XMB each time. So is this something stupid that I'm doing (once again :p) or just a random bug?

Still, I must say, it was awesome playing through without a crosshair. I managed to get through the first part of the demo and onto the minigun part. Was really intense, but then I lost my bearings and died while firing blindly like a madman.

Really quite impressed with the "pointer" controls. I love playing shooters with no crosshair, I played KZ2 the last 2-3 months online without it and it was really intense. If I can get away with playing KZ3 with Move and no crosshair I think I'll be in heaven. <3

Thing is, it's really more of a boxing game than a, well, "fighter." Gladiator Duel is closer in that respect, so it does have handful of special techniques you can pull off. I don't think we're going to see something like that until Namco gets off their asses and makes a new Soul Calibur game. :)

I agree and thats why I think it still needs a lot of work. However, I thought the same about the Gladiator game in SC but I was proven wrong. Prove us wrong again SONY.

2 meters/6.5 feet

If that's not enough well, you can fix it. Extension USB cables cost like 3 bucks for 15ft

How does Res Evil 5 Move compare to Res Evil 4 on the Wii? Similar level of awesomeness or is it broken because of the button layout?

Would you recommend RE5 or MAG for someone wanting a single-player Move shooter?

They've rebuilt the game...it's no longer pure gesture based fighting, but 1:1. Definitely check out the latest vids of the game...its much, much better.

From what I've heard, RE5 is a mess. MAG is definitely better than RE5 and the issues for MAG have been rectified and is much more responsive.

I've been playing RE5 and think it's much better than with a standard controller. It's definitely on par with RE4 Wii at least.

Yeah. MAG is pretty much spot on now. They way it should be, almost. Very impressed about how quickly they are improving it.

Is there a 1.05 patch coming anyway?

Not happy with how this is going.

I too was worried the Frag FX controller was going to ruin Resistance: Fall of Man back in the day. But it didn't seem to have much of a negative effect on the game nor the community.

I know the Move is different and is an official Sony controller with games that are specifically developed, patched, tested, and coded to utilize this controller. However, I don't think the Move will have a negative effect on the game or community. In fact, I believe it'll help expand the MAG community because a lot of players who otherwise wouldn't give MAG a look will be picking up this great game to try out the Move. There are tons of shitty players in MAG that can't aim for shit. Hopefully the Move will help them get some kills and actually enjoy the game instead of being a meat shield / useless blue dot (random player).

The Move might be great to have for sniping. That's actually the only thing I'm worried about: MAG having even more snipers that do nothing to help the team out. Other than that, I'm not really concerned with Move players somehow dominating existing "elite players" that have been playing MAG for 8+ months. It takes a lot more than a precise controller to do well in MAG. All of the great players won't all of the sudden suck because of Move players. We may get killed more often by blue dots but that's about it.

I found a way to change the color of the ball in Tumble!!!

Simply start a multiplayer game (one that is a mode for 2 players with 1 controller). The two player colors are blue and red. When you are playing as the blue player, if you want to be blue, then press start and quit. Then go to single player and enjoy a nice blue ball!

If you wish to be red, play as the red player, then press start and quit. Then enjoy single player with a nice red ball!

:D

It's surprisingly very refreshing to play with a different color than pink/purple for once. :lol

This is something I really hope they fix in a firmware update.

They can't fix it for games that use the orb, because the color of the orb is picked based on contrast. Allowing users to pick their own color could potentially break the way their hardware works (i.e. if you have Blue furniture and chose a blue orb, it could cause problems).

The color is picked intentionally to have stark contrast to the rest of your room.

It's not a mess, extremely far from it.

I've been playing RE5 with the DS3 and Move combo, and it was better than just the DS3 imo, and my accuracy was much higher. I went out today and got the Nav Controller and it's just about perfect.

On a side note, when I picked up my NavCon at GameStop, I picked up the 2nd to last one and they were out of Moves. The dude there told me they sold through their initial shipment of 4 cases, got more again today and sold them all. He said he was really suprised by how well it's selling. They know me by name there and we talk games all the time, so I don't think he was just blowing smoke.

Is it true it uses the move button instead of the trigger for shooting?

Any impressions of High Velocity Bowling or Brunswick Pro Bowling?

Well yeah but you still have four different colors when using four moves. At least give us four other choices. :(

Question

this is not about the move, but can the PSEye do video chat, I would love to be able to video chat with friends I know personally. If not I hope Sony add this feature in a firmware, if they do I bet the fuckers will only do it for PSN+

I think that's been available since 2007. They've really improved it since then.

Correct, it uses the move button to shoot, which sounds bad, but it's not terrible.

The biggest "complaint" is that you don't see a cursor until you pull the trigger, and it always starts at the center of the screen. Personally, I think this is great as you always know where your cursor is, and after about 30 minutes muscle memory will have you picking off zombies in seconds. It's a really good solution.

Im enjoying the Playstation move so far.

The family is currently playing Sports Champions and Start the party. We're also using the Beat Sketchers demo to play Pictonary...

That is a great idea. I am really wanting to get Beat Sketchers just to doodle around on. My daughter and I tonight were taking turns drawing faces over the top of each others real faces. She even gave me a little eyepatch (I guess as an ode to the Gaf Gifs, lol). It was fun drawing beards on each other and stuff.

I really would like this full game. Isn't it out already? I would love to do some type of game sharing with someone over in Europe if anyone is interested. I could set up a US account, and someone in Europe a Euro account, and we could trade. I have a share account, just nothing with someone in Europe. Hit me up if anyone is interested.

I tried RE5 and yea its just like the Wii RE4. I was using a DS3 so I might want to get a Nav controller. I think it will be awesome but a little burned out on that game. Also, I feel like I need to calibrate the thing a lot. Maybe I need to move farther back not sure though.

So to follow up in case anyone else has the same issues. The Shoot demo. The crosshair wouldn't appear after calibration, after multiple attempts and quitting to the XMB numerous times. It took me resetting the PS3 to get the cross hair to appear again. It then wouldn't calibrate properly like the first time I tried earlier today. I quit to XMB and restarted and then calibration worked fine again. During the level tho, the crosshair shifts constantly to the right, meaning i have to recalibrate constantly through the demo by pressing O. Oh and the cross hair tears horribly but that's unrelated.

So in conclusion, the demo is definitely buggy for me. Google search shows others having the same issues. Strange how others seem to have no problems, I can assure you it's not retardedness on my part :p it's definitely an issue with the demo affecting a few. Probably doesn't make a difference but it's a UK demo off the starter pack disc. Hopefully they'll fix this for the retail release.

I didn't say the FRAGnStein was a replacement for a keyboard and mouse, but a FRAGnStein is certainly more accurate than a dual shock. Not leaps and bounds, but just enough to give you a competitive advantage. As for Move being deadly in FPS games - only good came out of this.
