Playstation Vita Japanese Games and Discussion Thread

I played Samurai & Dragons for about an hour or so. The combination of the three game types (kingdom building sim, monster card battles, and dungeon crawl) is kinda wierd, but I think I can see the appeal. I need to play it a little longer to be sure (and check a wiki), but it seems pretty deep.

I also got the little Little Kings Story game. Never bought the Wii version, but I really like this one. Very addictive.

So far I have been really pleased with my Vita game purchases (Army Corp of Hell was the only dud). Gravity Daze, Unit 13, Minna no Golf, Little Kings Story, Kurohyo 2 (PSP game)--all awesome.

Finally got my Lumines double-dip on, and it has downloaded as a separate app to my installed US cart.
Is this expected? I assume my save game won't be compatible (not a biggie, since I'll play it again anyway), but if the trophies are separate too, that's a bit poor. Anyway, lesson learned, don't think I'll be double-dipping again.

We'll be expecting a video blog review ;-)

Super Monkey Boobs - Sega, Sony and the swimsuit model (yes, questionable pics)

I tried the Monkey Ball demo, the game totally sucks with stick control and tilt is almost impossible so both are unfortunately pretty much just frustrating. I cannot believe this series has somehow gotten worse, it feels like they took the masochistic style of Super Meat Boy and crammed it into Super Monkey Ball...same pet peeve with the recent Puyo Puyo games which are totally overpriced and out of touch with reality.

Yukie Kawamura is aiming straight for the 30+ crowd LOL, she's not one of the girls popular with kids these days.

That seems like a good deal for ACoH but I've still got such a huge backlog, I don't really feel like buying it.
These prices should be permanent, not just for GW.

Anybody else pick up @field and enjoy it?
I saw the one impression above. Do you have updated impressions now that you've had more time?

Game's difficulty ramps up considerably and becomes hard as fuck because some of the better upgrades that are useful on a number of courses are locked behind gold medals.
Actually backtracking and trying to unlock better batteries and such. Harder than I had planned on.

No impressions of $60 Sudoku game? Crazy prices...English study game for 60 too

Started to play Samurai and Dragons but I am getting sniffs of F2P tricks, does it stay truly free?

Lumines on the other hand...sooooo good

No impressions of $60 Sudoku game?

Well, since you ask, I actually bought the Sudoku game. Not that I'm a huge fan of Sudoku itself, but the 11 other Nikoli puzzle types included looked appealing enough to make me download the demo, and after playing the demo I knew I needed the full game.

I was basically suffering logic-puzzle withdrawal after the year of daily downloadable puzzles for Layton 5 on my 3DS came to an end. This game hits the spot perfectly. I wasn't that familiar with the Nikoli puzzles outside of Sudoku before now, but playing them now it's extremely clear where most of the Layton downloadable puzzles got their inspiration from. Some of them are basically carbon copies. And I love them, charming Layton themes or no charming Layton themes. <3

Yeah there are two other Nikoli Vita games for 500 yen each so that one just sticks out...

There are also some PSP versions on the marketplace, but nice having trophies..I think there are a bunch of pretty good PS1 and PSP puzzlers on PSN

Well, the two other Nikoli titles on the store are like super-lite versions of the full-price game. I wasn't remotely interested in either of them, because they each only include one puzzle type, with 50 individual puzzles. Hence the ¥500 bargain pricing.

The full game contains 12 puzzle types, with 100 individual puzzles for each type. That's 24 times the content and a crapload more variety, so ¥4,400 (about 9 times the price of the lite versions) doesn't seem unreasonable. I feel like I got plenty of value for what I paid =D

Just curious for those who may frequent popular japanese gaming forums, or follow interests in the east, but how has the reception been for Soul Sacrifice so far? It's interesting because the it seems like reactions have been pretty positive so far in the US from what limited information that we have, but i'm curious if their will be much interest in a game thats as dark as this one is. Seemed like the best place to ask.

Sony is still pushing Gravity Daze/Rush

On Monday the 14th, Sony will host a music broadcast for the game. Director Keiichiro Toyama will be joined by sound lead Kouhei Tanaka (previous work on Resonance of Fate and Sakura Wars) for a discussion of the Vita title's musical component. Tanaka will also perform some of the music live.

To view the event live, visit Nico Nico on the 14th at 20:50.

Here's the new commercial for the game

I made a japanese account to try some demos, i downloaded the full samurai & dragons, but when i run it a message is shown saying something about the live area.
I tap on the livearea and it redirect me to a site, but i don't know what to do.
Can anyone help me please?

Assault Gunners demo impressions incoming.
The first impression was good, as the ally mech models look pretty detailed.
From there it went downhill, since the game itself is a really dumbed down clone of Armored Core in terms of gameplay and the missions are filled with terribly generic enemies which you kill without any real effort.
Also, there's no flying, which makes me sad.
Aside from the nice looking ally mechs, the only good thing about this game which comes to mind is that the animation is smooth all the time, even if there's a lot of smoke, units and explosions on screen.
All in all, since there's no online multiplayer I'm not going to bite the full version, even for 1480 yen.

One more thing - DAT-UNIT is the default name for every robot, lol.

You probably need to update the game (the circle with the arrow in it, top left).

And thanks for the impressions Keii, will try it out once I finish Persona but with no online I doubt I'll bite, even at 1500 yen :(

I feel stupid for giving the 4,400 yen Nikoli bundle puzzle game a hard time because now am I buying the 500 yen games individually and it will end up costing me more in the end. The museum one they just released is very fun, maybe easiest one so far but I like the visual aspect of it.

Yes, that was the problem :)

Ironically I really enjoyed Army Corps., mostly because I'm a shameless metalhead. How was Little King's Story? I was told there were framerate issues in the Japan version.

I'm playing P4 for ten hours or so, working on to save a tofuya idol currently. RPG is not my genre and P4 is the first JRPG since Mother 2...But it's a blast. I can't believe I'm enjoying this game this much. I love 千枝's cup ramen talk and made me go to combini and pick up a 赤いきつね lol

I have a couple of qeustions.

-It seems you can revisit each dungeon. Are there any benefit to do that other than boosting LV?
-Should I rotate the party member or is it OK if I use the same characters through the game?

Going to Japan in a few weeks. What are some good JP games to pick up as souveniers? Currently looking at Persona 4: Golden. Anything else?

Thanks! What about Tales of Innocence R? Still thinking of getting persona 4 golden in the JP version as I've already played through it in english once...

I'm not seeing much Persona 4 The Golden love from JGAF. Nobody bought it, or is there a thread that I couldn't find?

http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201204240013/ - Lord of Apocalypse and Army Corps Of Hell getting a 2000￥ discount on DL versions from 05.01 to 05.07.
Lord of Apocalypse: 4,980 -> 2,980 yen
Army Corps of Hell: 3,990 -> 1,990 yen

I'm thinking about getting ACoH, as I already have LoA.

ACoH is really good..
Played 20+ hours of it myself and really enjoyed it.. :)

Might be a good idea to set up a playlist tough, since you get tired of the music after a while. :)
