This is how the PS3 should have worked all along. To be honest, messages, invites, friends list should also be in that hold guide button menu. I am somewhat worried about xbox one in that regard as well but I think they have a hold guide button overlay as well based on that achievement thread.

In Xperia the MU is built into Walkman (from the latest one)

Meh, no big deal. I'd expected a day one patch anyway, and the only thing I'm even slightly bummed by is the lack of suspend/resume. The music stuff doesn't bother me at all though. I don't think I've ever used a console to play music during a game. These days I mostly use spotify anyway so...

In the past, you would have had to wait till Fall of 2014 to get the console. They can release it earlier and update the features in as they are ready. Be happy we get it now and we have the ABILITY to upgrade the functionality. Can you imagine how dated current systems would feel if we didn't have that ability? Well to answer your previous question then, music unlimited is a subscription service, they offer a 30 day trial not sure if they have an version that's run ion ads and free.

If it's how it's like on Xperia smartphones then the Walkman app integrates your own collection with the music unlimited catalog so you can make playlists with your own music and cloud music.

Can almost guarantee the functionality of Blu-ray/DVD not coming about until your console downloads this and goes online is them registering the console in some way to you. Basically, DRM.

I imagine it's more likely to set the disc region. Then they don't have to factory set this and can just ship them anywhere.

Can't the update come on disc like on the ps3? Newer games carry the firmware updates so you don't have to have the Internet.

We know how it will look like already. We saw it at the beginning os the Gamescon presentation. We haven't seen enought though. Agreed.

As for how it "feels" like, you could say that about both consoles. Very few people outside of the US have experienced a DS4 or a Xbone controller/OSs

Microsoft are doing tours around the UK at the moment, I have used the Xbone already and there is another event in my city tomorrow if I wanted to try again. Nobody outside of Sony has commented on the PS4's new GUI and people with machines are told categorically not to discuss it.
I just find it disappointed as they had made great inroads with the PS3 and it's feature list, both the interface and it's integration across PSN was the biggest downside compared to 360 and I am really looking forward to seeing Sony push past that, I just wish they would hurry up, there are too many questions for my liking.

I actually do that a lot. I have podcasts to listen to, so I wear this

and then put my ps3 headphones on. Since these are inside ear, and the headset is over the ear, it works just fine. These wrap around the back and the headphones wrap around the top of me big fat head.

I don't think the reversals have anything to do with it. This is the case with everything nowadays. When I bought my tv it updated as soon as I turned it on.

You know, the DVD/BRD playback thing could actually be a good thing. I have a co-worker with a PS3 who never played online at all for six years or even connected online. No patches, no PSN account, no system updates. My incredulous pleas are always answered with "Eh, I don't care about going online".

I know there have to be tons of other people like my co-worker out there. Needing the day one patch for DVD and Blu Ray though... that'll get them to connect.

I wouldn't call suspend a trivial feature. It's pretty fantastic on Vita and anyone who has been using one at any length can attest to that fact.

I'm sure it won't be too far off from release though. Nothing to worry about really, but it is strange it's not there day one.
