Podcast recommendations now that 1upYours is dead

I am trying to get over the loss of that podcast still and I need something to replace it. Does anybody recommend anything with the same style, the same critical look at games in such a humorous way? Or will I never be able to confirm another weekend again?

Also, does anybody know where Shane and Garnet plan on going? Eventually they have to do some other venture and this new venture has to have some kind of podcast.
 
Garnett is still at 1UP, as is David Ellis. John sounds like he's still up for going onto 1UP Yours as well, they're just missing Shane now. They will continue to Podcast later on. Unfortunately Skip is no longer there (who edited the podcasts for consumption) so it is going to be more difficult.

Retronauts will continue. Jeremey, Sharkey and Ray are still employed at 1UP and Kohler will still make his appearances.

I came to post this, it's amazing how people just jumped to some arbitrary conclusion that 1upyours is done New info about the podcast's fate is expected next week.

But regardless you should listen to the bombcast.

I wouldn't say biased, but I would say that they lean more to 360, but they do talk about PS3 games and PC games a lot. But really, most of the stuff they talk about news-wise has to do with the industry as a whole.

I find it interesting, and sometimes I get annoyed when they overdo something, which they tend to do. I still find it enjoyable.

Listen to their GOTY special. It's extremely long and there are some great discussions.

Do not unfairly judge Giant Bomb by their weak previous podcast. Checkout the podcast before that, their GOTY deliberations. Best thing since the Brodeo.
 
Player One is easily the best podcast going. I can't wait for this week's (oh please tell me there'll be one this week).

Lots of people like Giant Bomb, but I've tried listening to it a bunch of times and find it just plain boring. No personality, not funny and for christ sake you think by now they'd learn not to talk over each other constantly.

The old Hotspot as in when they were all together doing Hotspot? Yes and no.

It's the same sort of humour, but it's probably less serious and a whole lot more honest. They don't really go out of there way for anyone game regardless of hype etc and they basically give their most honest opinions on titles and discussions. One of the few sites that actually loved the shit out of Banjo and discussed it a fair amount. They tend to focus on what they have been enjoying over the past week rather than focussing on what everyone wants to hear about.

Giantbomb > everything else out there.
 
first: 1up yours isn't dead.

second: gamers with jobs and giantbomb are my two favorite non-1up podcasts.

oh, rebelFM could take off, hopefully

I cant put my finger on it, but I find Giant Bombcast a hellava lot more entertaining than the old HotSpot. Not having corporate overlords maybe.
 
Giant Bomb as well as Player1 are vastly overrated in comparison to the former 1Up Yours.

What 1up excelled at was pacing. 2 hour+ podcasts would zip through from start to close thanks to the brisk pacing, great chemistry/banter/ball busting.

Sorry to say this but giant bomb just plods in comparison. a lot of folks around here seem to dig it but its not my cup of tea.
 
I subscribed to Giant Bomb right after what turned out to be the last one up yours. Also subscribed to Gamers with Jobs in the past week, even though it sounds like three people with the same voice and one guy that laughs too much.

They are more casual and relaxed with more humour.
 
RetroforceGO! is the only one I listen to every week.

But then again I'm only interested in retrogaming podcasts.
I've tried Retronauts on many occasions, but the negativity that's spewed out from certain individuals puts me off big time.

Doing a N64 episode and barely being ale to mention 5 worthwhile games.... Not my idea of a great retro show.
