I think its a mixture of the 3D style and the camera angle/size of character models in the newer games, i dont really know.

I just think GEN III was a great balance of new and old.

I also think that the lack of the ground-based circle bases under Pokemon in battles (first introduced in GEN III but still used in IV) is a big, big loss, considering the blandness of White/Black's battle scenes (even with great animations and all):

Not expecting any kind of support here. I do like how the new games look in some areas, but i dont really like the decision they took regarding the style of the whole thing. I always imagined/hoped the Pokemon games would evolve in a matter similar to what Pokemon Ranger looks like now:

Pretty baffling how a second-tier game looks so much better than the main series.

THIS is still the best-looking Nintendo DS game, in my opinon:

Its also under-utilized. Why are the Gyms much more cooler and better looking than the rest of the game ? it could really be used a lot better. This is also the case in gen 3 though. There's just to many "plain" areas.

I think B/W actually reverse that, the gyms are lame compared to the awesome overworld.
