The phone is 5 years old. Come on. There is no "slightly better" in play here... current phones are literally orders of magnitude better. You also need to keep in mind that while it may be able to render some offline single-player games that look better without many problems, there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes in Pokémon GO, like constant server checks, GPS checks, etc. The hardware used for those things specifically is very dated in the 4S.

The performance difference between the iPhone 4s and the 6s is over 20x. It's five years old, the GPU is ancient by phone standards. You can find $100 Android phones that run circles around it.

Well, still, I'm baffled that there isn't any specific compatibility cut-offs. If an app is simply not going to run well at all on a specific phone and the dev probably knows it, then the user should be easily be warned about it.

Granted, I imagine it wouldn't be a hard blacklist but a warning more than anything else, because actually preventing specific devices from playing certain apps would probably cause lazy devs to abuse it.


Still, I'm probably not really gonna play this much anyway. My phone only uses an old prepaid service that I barely use and I nearly always use wifi with it, so the only two places I could possibly use it in anyway is my home and my university, lol.

Considering I travel a lot, this should be interesting. Do you have to be right on top of the the grass to initiate capturing a pokemon? I travel to Detroit a lot and don't feel safe staring down at my phone out in the open like that.

I did too, but apparently not. I guess it works exactly the same way combat does in their other game, Ingress. Everyone says smaller is better.

And it may seem like it's working now because you're only getting low level easy-to-catch Pokémon. Once you get to level 5, some harder ones will start to show up and the circle will change color.

I drove around my city today and a lot of the time it didn't feel like I needed to be right on top of them to make them appear. You just need to be somewhat close.

Yeah there is a memorial near my work and I can reach it from my desk so I can spin it, get items and 50xp, wait 5 minutes and do it again which should come in handy for leveling

Ok, how are people catching Pokemon by just staying at home? I'm on my daily train commute and I've only seen like 4 Pokemon. And how do I get the benefit of the poke stop? I've tapped on a couple that weren't "out of range" but got nothing to signify i triggered or visited them.

You need to spin the circle in the middle after tapping on them. It will spit out items after that.

As for catching Pokémon at home, everyone starts with 2 incense which attracts wild Pokémon to your location for 30 minutes.

Can someone confirm if saved data is kept between accounts on the same phone? As in, someone downloaded from the AU store and then switched to US store and kept your save?
