Both those buildings have mailboxes. Insignificant detail or not?

edit: is it just me or do some of those shadows look like they could be dynamic?

Seems like they didn't update the 3D engine at all.

Does this surprise you? The game looked virtually the same for like 7 years, before the DS finally crafted a new graphical style, and even in 3D it's pretty much identical to the original spirit. Won't be seeing any new game engines until the next sequel comes out, I'd think.

That crazy Japanese Moon Language
Why is there an aversion to the traditional Pokemon style? If it's isometric 8 direction movement you want, go play Megaman Starforce or something, it's closer to what you are looking for rather than asking for an established franchise with a fan-base to give up something they distinctly appreciate with their wallets.

You're saying people play Pokemon for the 4-direction, tile-based control scheme?

As long as they smooth out the frame rate, I'll be happy.
Agreed. The screen should not stutter with every step like it does in DPPt

Is it only chikorita following around? I want cyndaquil to follow.
Sorry, it's only Chikorita. Due to the economy, they had to reduce the starters to just one and Chikorita's who they went with.

I was kinda hoping that the more shady feel of Johto would be translated better. Then again, maybe I just think of it that way because I always played it at night.

Im sure there will be lots of different animations, scene environment effects, and more. Besides, its just the first town...and well...first towns in Pokemon dont really have that many differing features.

Yay sweet video, if anyone noticed the walking speed is a bit quicker too compared to D/P/Pt. Obviousely running shoes will be implemented, but this is a step in the right direction - never liked the brightness of the grass in the DPPt engine though.

It does seem smoother, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part. Hopefully it really is.

As long as the entire fucking screen doesn't seems like its wriggling around while I move, I'm cool.

Hope the starters get updated move pools since they pail in comparison to other starters like Infernape, Empoleon, and Swampert. Heck, Gyarados is superior to Feraligatr in nearly every way except not having Swords Dance.
