Pokemon Red, Blue & Green Virtual Console Sales

Why would get new forms here and not back when HGSS released?

Mega evolution wasn't a thing back then. I found the lack of a "legendary trio" in X and Y veeeeeeeeeeery suspect. It just felt so odd that they wouldn't have any, when Gen V had two sets and IV was packed to the brim with legendaries.

I like legendaries as a concept and they have competitive viability so I'm hoping Game Freak actually does continue to make more of them. Where's my poison legendary Game Freak? WHERE?!

It's time.

Loved this game as a kid! Also hoping for it to come to the 3DS.

~$15,000,000 for dumping some ROMs onto the eShop. C'mon TPCi/Nintendo, get gen 2 up now. THE MONEY SPEAKS.

Edit: OR... Use some of this money to fund a localization of the Japan-exclusive second Pokémon TGC 2.

Or ya know, both.

It was a bit more than dumping the ROMs. Support for emulating the Link cable over wireless (which is non-trivial) had to be added. Also, it's been found that there are numerous ROM patches applied to the Pokemon games.

Yeah no doubt it was tricky with R/B/G/Y. I'd imagine because of the work on the emulation though it would make G/S/C much easier and cheaper to port over all things considered.

Yeah I can't imagine updating GSC with RBY's enhancements would be that hard for them.

The craziest thing about RBY aside from being able to press X for the menu is the fact that you can transfer the guys to Pokebank. Holy crap, that's some cool cross functionality from the first games in the series to the latest.

They also did some neat things for the western version of Yellow by making it the GBC version and adding in the Surfing Pikachu Minigame without the need for Stadium.

Yeah that was unexpected. Speaking of which, have they explained how that works yet? Or is not being enabled for the ports until Sun and Moon launch?

sorry Mr-Joker

Yo what is this talk of Sun/Moon being HGSS sequels, are you trying to induce priapism?

That makes sense. I can't wait to use that feature.

I just like that all the time I put into getting a Dragonite in Yellow will pay off more than just the joy of having him. I can actually transfer him to the modern game and let him rot away in the box for all eternity :^)

still very much looking forward to it. I'm pretty sure Game Freak will have some sort of special icons or something on the guys you do transfer from RBY (and GSC eventually?), that's something they've done in the past.

I do hope they are sequels. G/S/C are remembered fondly for good reasons and though they and HG/SS were not perfect they definitely are still the standard for all pokemon games to exceed or live up too.

Edit: Heck just make it a spiritual successor by bringing back features from those games and implimented a second region for post game and that would work for me.

I wonder how they'll get transferred over. Will some be shiny? Can they keep moves they're no longer allowed? What about all the glitches?

Good now give me the gen 2 game so I can retire my gen 2 cart and never have to worry about the battery dying out.

It's cool, I actually brought Pokémon Yellow from the virtual console and I plan to buy Pokémon Red sometime soon.

And when the gen 2 games go up on the e-shop I am there.

Thats amazing. I used to play the crap out of yellow when I was a kid. I wouldnt mind playing it again or playing one of the others but not sure I will like them as much as I did when I was younger. I'd like to be wrong though. Anyone else here play them as a kid and picked them back up as an adult? Worth it?

I found it to be worth it. I already spent 119 hours on it and got my poxedex completion to 115.

Just release them all.

I see kids and teens play emulated versions on Android all the time on the subway. There's clearly demand.

Nah. My bet is on SM being XY sequels like GSC was to RBY.

Just play your favourite TV show and watch it while grinding. Game is still cool, but grinding is pretty tiresome. But still, pixels are fantastic and some of the coolest pokemons are in this game.

Oh man I misread the title and thought the actual games were on a sale and I got excited to buy them all :( Congrats for that number achievement though!

There is no non-color western version of Yellow. There's also no color version of the Japanese Yellow.
