Pokemon Uranium (Fan made game) is released!

What do you guys think has been the very best pokemon hacked version? And what makes this one notable against those?

Are there any that add a large amount of completely original pokemon alongside the existing pokedex? And are they well designed?
Ive heard good things about Pokémon Glazed and Gaia versions.

Out of the ones I've played Blaze Black 2 is the best. I haven't played any of the fan games.

Be careful if you reassign the keys for the controls, you won't be able to use said keys when naming your guy or girl. Lol

edit: I hit Esc at the naming screen and it asked if my name was... what my real name is. Uh, wat?

Probably just using your PC's login name or something.

For all the Nintendo gonna C&D it posts I ask; which Pokemon game is this a remake of?

While not as clear cut as the Mario 64 ported and playable in unity web browser I think AM2R was is a bit close to being an unofficial port like that rather than being an original fan game like the many which have not been C&D (which include yes, Pokemon fangames).

But whatever, meme on.

Anyway now that is out of the way it's interesting to hear it has online battling and trading and also it came out 4 days ago (or at least that is what the youtube video said).

Okay, I'm liking this game is a sequel to the greatest Pokemon Ranger game of all time with the P.C. being the child of the male P.C. from that game.

Well, quickest way to ruin the impression.

So instead of picking the pokemon normally, I have to do a dumb test I didn't care for. And now I need to replay the entire intro because of it, including the edgy sad backstory nonsense...

I don't like how bombastic the music is, kind of distracting since everything else goes for a classic GBA-DS look.

EDIT: Damn that Grass Starter is pretty unappealing. I wish they let you see the Pokemon designs before the test, though it's obvious thanks to the color coding how you need to answer. Water and Fire look neater.

The U.I. with the huge health bar for the foe looks pretty bad too. Also this seems a bit unbalanced, the rival Pokemon has Water Gun AND Static as an Ability but all I get is Scratch.

The initial Rival fight doesn't set a good impression---

They forgot to take out the losing money part and the blackout part, which don't happen in the first Rival fight usually.

Then the Professor lectures me on not taking advantage of my Type Advantage, but Orchlynx doesn't have any Grass-type STAB moves. Is this a glitch I'm experiencing and he does for other players?

I wanted the grass starter and got the water one instead. Do I start over or no...

Here's all of their forms, btw.

One evo and a mega each. Types are Grass/Steel, Fire/Ground, and Water/Electric.

Yeah, the grass starter gets wrecked on the very first fight because of his moveset, then becomes an absolute monster a short time later.

I used my fire-based move with my Poke (forget the name) and took down Orchynx in one shot. Don't recall any lecture after that but maybe because I did use the type advantage.

Don't know why everyone is saying Nintendo will take this down when there's already a bunch of Pokemon fangames and ROM hacks that have been around for years with no problem. I guess the Pokemon Company doesn't really care.

Okay, Grass looks pretty awesome---glad I got it.

I have no clue what the Water Starter is going for in terms of what it's supposed to be.

I like its first two forms, but its last form is like... I... don't know.

It's a dinosaur eel, I guess. With Guile's hairdo.

Grass looks awesome.
Fire needs to dial it back a bit - too busy.
Water is... What the fuck is that? All three of its forms are pretty bad.

Gah! I can't download it for a few hours; how long did it take Nintendo to start the AM2R Debacle? And is there a chance that GameFreak/TPC are less buzzard-ish and can let this happen? I doubt it, but I missed AM2R and am not savy enough to use/comfortable with using the means that Nintendo used to eradicate the only Metroid game since 2007.

a few of those fakemon I've seen don't look so bad, imo

if I was to make a proper pokemon clone I wouldn't use any original pokemon, get a good artist to design nice-looking fakemons and change enough game mechanics and names so you could commercialize your game without having the Nintendo ninjas go after your project. That would include not naming your game Pokemon

Birbie's pretty cute.

Chyinmunk is like Patrat except without the bizarre design that makes it interesting.

This Region is inspired by Peru, right?

Saw someone playing this yesterday. It looked OK, I guess, but it failed to impress me in a way that would've made me interested in playing it. Streamer really seemed to like it himself however, even though he did encounter a few bugs during ~hour that I watched.

I don't think that Nintendo or any other company involved is as likely to send out DMCA notices to download providers as in the case of AM2R. I'm not saying it cannot happen, the game does reuse assets from the games and music from the TV show, but AM2R directly devalued the original Metroid 2 by being a greatly enhanced remake that was being given away for free, and Nintendo is still selling Metroid 2 on Virtual Console. AM2R would directly hurt the sales of that game.

I'm playing Star Sapphire right now and absolutely loving it. Highly recommend.

I don't see what makes this one any more or less notable than any other Pokemon rip off. The monster designs don't look anything like Pokemon lol.

The premise, monster design, and atmosphere feel distinctly Pokemon, but also distinctly unique. Most Pokemon fan games feel like they're riding the Pokemon wave, this one has a very unique spirit to it. I don't know how else to describe it.

Now, do I keep water or restart for grass!? Weird dinosaur eel is weird, but his typing is awesome...??? WHAT DO I DO?
