Pokemon Uranium (Fan made game) is released!

Getting a 404 on the Download page now, anyone have a mirror they could hide in a quote?

Edit: Nvm, the download link off of google added .html at the end. Just have to refresh awhile for the 500 errors to stop

Started it for the first time...

Well... At least I hope that dad stays around for longer than Brian Cranston in Godzilla lol

They've posted a link to a MEGA download on their Twitter..

the big difference here is that we're still served mainline Pokemon games often.
most people won't really put much attention to this so it's likely it will fly under the radar.

with Metroid, the exposure went nuclear because there was a 12 year thirst for a 2D Metroid game.

This seems like a fun way to pass time until no man's sky PC version gets released. Just got a "something .rar is not a valid file" when installing the game though, so I think it might not be working great for me. The game is letting me start it anyway though so...uh let's see where that goes?

So the Starters aren't three-stage, rather they're two-stage with a Mega?

That's odd. Especially as the gap between the second stage and the Mega seems wider design-wise than Megas usually are.

Also I know I was saying earlier that Fake Pokemon get judged too harshly but...

Totally lost interest in using Chiypmunk seeing its evolution is this.

The premise, monster design, and atmosphere feel distinctly Pokemon, but also distinctly unique. Most Pokemon fan games feel like they're riding the Pokemon wave, this one has a very unique spirit to it. I don't know how else to describe it.

Now, do I keep water or restart for grass!? Weird dinosaur eel is weird, but his typing is awesome...??? WHAT DO I DO?

There are plenty other good hacks that do just that and have more polish. This lacks polish in a lot of ways.

Game runs ... Not well for me

This is my biggest issue with it. Like, I figured since it wasn't a room hack the game would run a bit better but instead it seems to be lagging a lot, which makes getting through it a bit of a drag.

Plus a couple minor annoyances like the controls and inability to go fullscreen...game is pretty charming though. Just feel like I'd like it a lot better if I could fast forward through it. Like, a literal fast forward button emulator style.

EDIT: Also, just got to the game's first cave and it's unironically "take two steps and random battle." It's like Skies of Arcadia level haha. Charming game but I think I'm gonna pass on playing it.

First gym town. Had a stalker give me the house key of a gym leader so I could enter her house while she was asleep.

...Well. Uh. Between this and performance issuesI think this is a good place to stop playing haha. Impressed that they managed this on RPG maker and kept this up for such a long time but this game isn't for me.

Yeesh. That is pretty bad.

Beat the first gym team consists of orchynx, grozard and birbie.

Enjoing it do far but the performance issues are real bad, so I understand why people would drop it

And yeah the stalker thing...

It's also pretty challenging. Lost a battle toa fighting sheep in the cave and almost lost first gym match, had to use potions

What do you guys think has been the very best pokemon hacked version? And what makes this one notable against those?

Are there any that add a large amount of completely original pokemon alongside the existing pokedex? And are they well designed?
Ive heard good things about Pokémon Glazed and Gaia versions.
Pokemon ultra violet is the definative version of the red blue remakes for the gba. You can choose to pick a random pokemon in the beginning of the game instead of the default starters (talk to dr oak instead of walking to pick a starter out, it triggers a safarai zone like area where you can get some real cool alternatives)

Huh so the game has day and night, that's pretty cool.

Also you can get some weird Electric hedgehog Pokemon through Mystery Gift on the menu.

Using Orchynx so far is like using Snivy, Scratch---and then Leech Seed? Thankfully it seems I'm getting Vine Whip soon enough. Birbie is so much better with Gust.

I find it odd the developers didn't take the time to add in new moves or Abilities, that seems like something you'd definitely do when making New Pokemon to help them feel unique.

The game can tell when your PC battery is low, that's neat.

Does this game have EXP. All? The slow battle system really makes me hope so because grinding low level Pokemon is such a pain.

It goes pretty slow when my PC is plugged in, like very choppy especially when dialogue comes up...

Okay, so Cubbug is a top-tier design though.

"Version 1.0" has me thinking about all these fangames and how they work. Even if it gets DMCA'd yet persists online forever, it becomes a lot harder to actually update it, doesn't it? Hmm.

She deals with him right after that.

Yeah, honestly what made me go "uhhh" was less that the game had a stalker plot and more that the game had your character kind of roll with it. Like the game has your character not protest at all and just go ahead using the key to invade her house. And then the girl is like "Oh, you invaded my house but I'm a-okay with it because the key came from someone else."

Like end of the day it's still a Pokemon fangame, not a huge thing either way--just kind of made me go "...Okay, tapping out, not feeling the writing here."

How bad is the performance? How slow we talking?

It's not unplayable, but it's slower than a normal Pokemon GBA game so it just has that "feels like it should be faster" feeling going. Plus some awkward stuttering issues now and then.

Started playing this on day 1. Honestly it's pretty good and I'm having a lot of fun with it. A lot of the concept art for mons look pretty bad, but the sprite work is done really well and it allows the designs to look a lot better.

My only real gripe is the player trainers. They're all pretty bad, and the best looking one in game is the dude from Blue's Clues.

Other then that, great game so far.

Game froze when I tried to box a Pokemon and lost about an hour.

I'm...kind of over this now. Not a bad game but it's hard to continue after that due to the speed issues.

Also if you use the Mystery Gift option from the Main Menu once you have saved your game. You can get a shiny Jerbolta as a promotion. It's basically Sonic. In terms of color pallet.

I call him John Jerbolta.

I've been wanting to play this but am currently playing and trying to beat Pokemon Reborn, very long and difficult, each gym leader proves incredibly challenging.

Yeah, the performance is pretty bad. Devs said they're looking into it, so hopefully it gets resolved soon.

RPG Maker XP is poorly optimized.

It's even worse when a game has a lot of stuff going on.

I'll probably never use it again. The newer ones improved on performance
