I'm just wondering if it supports 2 players. If I can play with my gf, it would make the purchase way easier. If not, I guess I'll buy it on Vita to play while I'm on the subway.

Out of interest what would you prefer? The "relationship" system isnt meant to be a realistic model for how actual relationships function so it seems a bit of a stretch to condemn it for not being what it isnt intended to be. It's transparently a game mechanic, specifically a loot mechanic, with a bit of in character dressing. Adding some kind of complex relationship mechanic would seem to be at odds with what the games going for.

it really is a shame that an AO rating is a death knell. so the porn games that do get made are bad and the mainstream smut we get is poorly made pandering crap like this game. and then the sex scenes in games that are ostensibly not juvenile masturbation fantasies are just a couple of genital-free toy dolls awkwardly rubbing on each other.
But this describes the ME sex scenes so well.
Until there is some crazy motion capture stuff happening, everything is going to look awkward.

I'll simply say I've never found these scenes to be tasteful in any way, shape or form. I don't like them, they legitimately creeped me out last time, I have zero interest in seeing them again, and I personally wish they would disappear.

Is Dead or Alive primarily about stripper pole dances?
It is possible for me to like stuff like the volleyball sections and the mini-games and dislike the pole dances. I don't have to love every facet of the game.
Based off what I watched in the last game, it was... creepy. Just being flat-out honest. It wasn't "just pole dancing"... it was obviously there for a particular reason, and the fact it involved some underage girls just made my skin crawl. Even the music choice they used for the scenes was seedy and uncomfortable.
A Dead or Alive thread. I know where I'm at. It's okay. I'm a big boy. I can take it.
As I said, if you like them, more power to you. But these inclusions are really not for me and I can like a franchise while still wishing it would be a bit less exploitative.
And unlike some fans, I think the franchise, in all its incarnations, is definitely more than just sex appeal and fanservice, but not all fanservice hits the mark and not all of it is handled well. It's a criticism that the Dead or Alive series has always had, probably always will have, and one I'll continue to levy against it.
I just think it can be done, though. I used to think Tomb Raider would never move beyond its blow-up sexpot Lara Croft presentation, and the franchise really surprised me on that front, so I'll never say never.
I'll stop defending my opinion though. I already said everyone is welcome to like it, but it's an element of the game, the series, and even the industry at large that I don't necessarily agree with. My opinion and my own, and this is the place to share it, just as much as any of the praise for the stuff the game excels at.

Generally speaking, I see less critique over sexual content and more critique over content that could be seen as sexist to some degree/a sexual depiction of underage women.
I agree that the game isn't trying to do anything complex. That's as plain as day. I'm saying maybe some system revolved around adding some depth to the characters/to how the "loot" mechanic works would make it a bit less "well, you get this reward because you gave them the right thing.". So, a basic concept.
Frankly, people really dig dating sims. I'm a fan of a few otome myself. Mechanics with basic date-sim style ideals in mind (and some stronger writing) may add some minimal depth to the system/relationships without sacrificing what it's going for. I mean, the past games in this series you were pretty much trying to woo the girls and they were more or less dating each other anyway. Butt without any nuance beyond: "Here's this gift". I don't see why adding a bit more depth to that system would be an issue or detract from what the game is already sorta going for anyway. It wouldn't make relationships so binary anyway.
Well, someone was arguing it was "just exercise" (as if pole dancing is the primary way young women exercise and get in shape these days...). Just a simple rebuttal.
... Dead or Alive Xtreme DOES offer more than just pole dancing. It's not a pole dancing simulator. I happened to enjoy the sports stuff way-back-when and disliked the more pandering stuff later on.

I was using pole-dancing as an umbrella for what DOAX is obviously about, which is watching girls in swimsuits do various activities. I don't think pole-dancing is an outlier in what DOAX is going for.

And the game seems to be going more in that direction.
In owner mode you play as a guy, raise the girls affection, and they can confess to you.
Could it use more depth? Absolutely. I would love if there was more dating sim.
But at the same time, this game has a relatively short development time, and clearly not a big budget, so it is understandable that it is pretty shallow in those aspects. Maybe in future entries if this does well.

I don't think anyone is arguing that, but it does provide a huge workout. Professional dancers like Eliana Girard sometimes pick up aerial pole dancing to complement and improve their skillsets.

The best sex games (guess I'm outing myself a bit here) also tend to be low-budget affairs, often made with tools like RPGMaker and the like with minimal programming or even original assets involved. And then you have the mods for games like Skyrim... which, tbh, tend to be too poorly made to be anything other than amateurish, but hey, that's what you get for the price of free, eh?

Have I missed any trailers for the actual activities, or have they not released anything but the gravure trailers so far? All I remember seeing right now so far is the running for the flag bit and Loli and Friend butt battling
