Alright. I am drained. But remember this, those who are disappointed: two years ago, we were triumphant and the GOP was on the brink of extinction. Much can happen in two years. Do not give up hope.

Harry Reid, you stubborn bastard. Way to go.

The House got rocked, even more than I was expecting. And Kirk and Toomey (especially Toomey) getting into the Senate is a pretty big deal - those guys are absolute scum. But I'm savoring how the Blue Dogs got reamed, Lincoln's loss and the Reid victory.

Hopefully Nelson and Lieberman stick with the Dems - if they caucus with the GOP all hell will break loose.

One thing is for sure: with only 52 Senators, any hope for filibuster reform went out the window. Reid needed the IL and PA seats to a shot at it. Welcome to two years of pure gridlock. :lol

Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.

Funny how such a great mind supports an idea that will never work if tried.

Will you stop preaching? I choose to have a job that allows me to spend a lot of time with my kids. If I wanted to put more hours in and make more money I could. You need to stop blaming others. That's your problem. Your ideal economical system sounds like heaven if there is one. Everyone has the same things and no one is above another. Just be satisfied with what you've earned throughout your life and try to be happy. Unfortunately, after reading your posts I fear you might be incapable of existing in such a state.

I don't think ev has ever suggested that everyone would have the same thing despite their work. However, immaturity and unwillingness to evaluate your current plight would lead you to make such generalizations. Be happy with your credit card providing you with the ability to feel like you have more than your father....

MSNBC raising the idea of Feingold challenging Obama in 2012. smh

Get used to it. It's going to be a common narrative for the next two years.

The media was playing up the McCain/Bush rematch all the way until primary season in 2003.

Really? Depending on how this plays out, you need to go back to 1946 or 1932 to see a comparable shift.

It IS big, it IS historic. It's the biggest shift in over a generation.

Yes . . . 10% unemployment during an off-year election does that.

This is not so bad, because all that the 2 years of fury and anger and tea party shit produced was a split congress.

The right had all the momentum and ratcheted up the fear mongering to 11, and what power are they holding now? The power to stall and block? Nothing was getting done in congress anyway.

Everything in US politics is so cyclical you can set your watch by it. This fury and indignation over Obama/Dems will not last until 2012, especially with Republicans partly in control of the government now. They can't be the finger-pointing outsiders anymore, they're on the hook too.

...And as a dual resident of Massachusetts and New Jersey, I'm not really worried about much, anyway. :D

So the Repubs are up 58+ seats. But there's still time for a reversal, right?

I'm stayin the course, bitches!

Nice. I am debt free and frugal. Way to paint that brush though. Try more responsibility and less blame.

I hope Colleen Hanabusa manages to swing HI-01 our way.

Bennet's back up in Colorado, some numbers were misreported. HOPIUM? It'd be a fucking miracle to turn that and FL-GOV around this late in the game, but I'll take it.

Fuck. Dayton's lead is down to 34,000 votes. Ugh.
This might actually do it for me. I would go fucking bonkers if he lost.

Reid is nothing more than an incompetent whimpering coward.

Overall, 67% of the ballots are counted. But only 55% are in from Multnomah County.
I just saw that. Kitzhaber is cleaning up 71-27 in Multnomah. Dayumn.

And the alternative was a mentally ill racist who refuses to ever speak to the press about any of her positions about anything.

I think it turned out OK, all things considered.

Holy shit. Did anyone else see that Citizens Against Government Waste commercial? The one ins Beijing in 2030?
Its almost hard to believe we have shit like on air, but we've fallen far indeed.

I look forward to seeing the many Republican/Tea Party initiatives that will create jobs and reduce the deficit and expand liberty. I'm all fucking ears.

Believe what you want. Matters none to me. Can I start making broad generalizations based on nothing about you now?

Sorry about the night for you. If only you guys could have communicated your positions a little more. Then surely you'd be having a 65 seat gain tonight.

Didn't that commercial say one of the reasons for the fall of empires was universal healthcare? :lol

It's even more hilarious because China has (or has proposed a plan to offer) universal health care. :lol :lol

Apparently there was a glitch or some shit in Hennepin county in reporting numbers according to channel 5. 32,500 it's at right now. Come on Iron Range. 71% in.

It's over. 2 years of nothing getting done, liberals getting upset, minorities suffering, etc. If democrats couldn't get two republicans to play ball in the senate, how the hell will they get eight?

All republicans have to do is play along on a couple issues (education perhaps) while stifling just about everything else. In 2012 Obama will get the credit or blame regardless. Game over.

This isn't 1994, and this isn't Blill Clinton.

Multnomah came in very late in '08 as well, which gave me a scare that Smith would get re-elected. Then a few hours later he got roasted. We should be fine.

Getting a Dem in the governor's chair in Cali will help as well; having that shitburger attached to us hasn't exactly helped lately.

Tax cuts for the top 1% do nothing to stimulate the economy. You and I have our money stashed away in savings accounts, bonds and treasuries because there are no safe areas to invest in. In general economy goes to shit, businesses clam up stop investing and hoard cash.

I don't want type out what the effects of trying to cut taxes and cut spending during a recession. And I don't want to preach Kenysian economics. So you figure out how republicans going to fix this economy based on the two things they are so fixed on.

I can never tell if Reid is an incompetent boob or a jedi jujitsu master. Healthcare was dead but the he pulled it off somehow. His candidacy was left for dead . . . and then crazy lady beats out the chicken-lady. But then he looked dead against Angle . . . and he comes back to win.

He's a mystery. The whispering boxer Mormon Democrat.

Kusagari said:
How is he savvy? He would have gotten his ass kicked if his opponent wasn't an insane woman who made a gaffe daily.
Don't discount the fact that Reid's campaign stepped into the GOP primary and helped push Sue Lowden down the tubes. He basically picked Angle as his opponent, which is why he won.

His state has just about the worst unemployment in the country, it's not a traditional blue state, he's the Majority Leader which put a massive target on his back, and he STILL pulled it off.

Actually they said Stimulus was the cause why US failed yet failing to mention that China had much much larger Stimulus when taking GDP into account.
