By the way, for those of you who are baffled by or want an understanding of what you are witnessing tonight, this is, by far, the best explanation for it:

Those rich people? They're fucking you right now.

All comes down to the person they put up to run against him. I think Obama wins 2012 and Republicans take it back in 2016.

Perhaps. But people will question his progress, and what he has done. Why re-elect someone who hasn't done anything prfound? It's not Obama's fault he inherited this mess. It's not his fault that people are impatient and so easily brainwashed by the bullshit on TV and the previous administration. I just wish he was more assertive.

He had no excuse not to kick ass in the first half of this term. Now, he's utterly fucked. Republicans now have the power to prevent him from doing anything. Fan-fucking-tastic.

I figure that out last year that California wasn't as progressive enough when they didn't allow gays to be wedd. Prop 19 going down is not a shocker to me. Also young voters turnout is probably shit.

I can feel their dirty, blood-stained dollars tickling my anus right now!

It feels so good! I use the tears of poor people as my lube.

Wasn't prop 19 supposed to win by 8% according to pre-polling? I'm seriously thinking that pot smokers stayed home and didn't vote. It's not the republicans fault, it's the marijuana users!

Only 8% precincts reporting so far. So who knows.

People expected Obama to fix a mess that took eight years to create, half-way through his first term. If he couldn't get things done before, he most definitely won't now. Gridlock is inevitable. I don't see Obama getting re-elected in 2012. People will make claims that he hasn't done enough, even though it would be the our fault for being impatient and being the nexus of the government's inaction
The presidential historian on The Daily Show mentioned that the past four presidents that lost mid-term majority in the house and retained majority in the senate have gone on to win reelection. I could see him being right. I think this might reinvigorate the Dem base for 2012.

"Obama and Democratic obstructionists in the Senate wouldn't let us fix the economy and lower the debt."

vs

"Republicans didn't fulfill their promise to tackle the debt and reduce unemployment."

I'm guessing the former will resonate.

Yep. They'll blame Obama, since he's president. He's at the top of the list.

I probably missed it, but Aaron Strife...your comment on the Feingold defeat? You got PoliGAF's hopes up for this?! :lol

Well okay, most of us weren't really buying it but still, really sucks to see him go down.

In his defense, Aaron is young, I think. This should age him some--at least make him more cynical (and hopefully realize how much work there is to be done if this country is to be salvaged from its current plague).

I sure hope so. Obama needs to kick ass, and take names. He needs to be more aggressive. Hell, he needed to be like that from day one.

About a month ago it was ahead.
Then the "medicinal" pot dealers started a coordinated word of mouth campaign against 19.
Then the polls flipped.

I love how everyone is blaming everyone but the Democrats for the Democrats loss.:lol Guys really it is the Dems fault, not the rich, not the tea parties, not the white trash, and not guys on weed.

This will also be the first mid-terms since 1930 where the senate and house didn't both change hands.

There's always a first for everything.
