Eh, whatever happens happens. Voting has already begun in earnest though.

This was posted as a comment on my blog this morning:

So far, all the conclusions by all the pundits are
totally based upon POLLS. Not a single actual vote
has been cast yet. Obama supporters gush at how
well their man has done in the debates, which proves
once again that Obama is a good debater and a good
speaker. It doesn't say anything about his character,
judgement, or what kind of a leader he would be.
I still would rather trust a man who would not sell out
his fellow prisoners, even during 5 years of torture,
than to trust a man who betrayed a 20 year friendship,
for personal ambition. And ... regarding this election,
until people actually vote ... it ain't over till it's over!

Remember everyone, the closer we get to Election Day the more irrelevant national polls become. Only individual state elections matter now.

Electoral votes select the President of the United States, not a national popular vote.
Because state polls are so much harder to conduct, daily national tracker polls can act as a proxy for what may go on in a state. That's why 538 still uses national trackers to predict state results.

If something fuck incredible happens that requires its own thread, that can split into its own little topic - Evilore has said as much.
Any chance that there could be a seperate prediction thread in the days leading up to the election? People will probably be making predictions here, but someone (I could) could take the time to make a seperate thread for it, make it into a little compoeteition include the congressional stuff, and see who's the smartest political junkie in PoliGAF-land.

It's still supplemental though to interpolate gaps in the data. McCain can run up the score in Utah and other deep red states all he wants.

I don't see why not.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: If both Virginia and North Carolina get called for Obama, I'll be celebrating his assured victory in the street.
Definitely, we'll know it's over then. But if I were the news networks, I'd just reel people in by pretending that CA might not go blue, and reminding everyone that obama still doesn't have enough electoral votes. The coverage will be interesting this year (provided it continues to look like an Obama blowout), that's for sure.

PoliGAF, why has my California Absentee Ballot still not arrived? I'm in MA. Any idea what I should do to get my ballot?

You'd better call. I hadn't received my ballot for FLA and when I called they said they never received my request :(

Got my early voting done on Tuesday and got the rest of my family to do so.Everyone is for Obama so now theres only the wait for the results.

Fat-Fuck Cavuto babbling his dipshit about how giving Illegals a driver's license is like the worst thing ever. Calm laywer women talked sense the whole time and at the end he barked at her. "Illegal! Illegal ILLEGAL!"

Don't get too excited. That could be part of McCain's trap. Remember, he has Obama right where he wants him.

Is Senate discussion in bounds for such a thread? I would assume so, particularly with both major parties now funneling resource to close campaigns.

Pete Domenici, (R) New Mexico, is retiring this election, so that seat is up for grabs. Tom Udall, (D), is running against (R) Pearce in this election.

Udall is running this ad, which was mentioned once before in the 150-page Debate 3 thread, but barely noticed, as far as I can tell.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h12mEegemI0

FiveThirtyEight currently has Udall's win percentage as 100%. That would be a swing in the Democrat's favor. This is the best ad for any candidate I've seen this election season.

this the new poligaf thread?

ohio sos wins at soctus level?

nd still in play?

nationwide polls holding?

mississippi senate race close?

anything else ive missed?

This. And those are east coast states so they'd be called first. :D

If I didn't know any better, I'd ask if this guy Cavuto is 12 :lol (lil O'Reilly FTW!)

How can McCain make a comeback when voting has already started? It will take a miracle.
Every day Obama is in the lead is another day it gets harder for McCain to come back.

I'd like to see the "Guess the Cabinet Appointments" idea get a thread too, or merged into that thread. It has to be done prior to the election because whomever the winner is will start announcing his team on Nov. 5.

The Chicago Tribune mentions briefly an article in which they recommended Obama run for president.

Here it is.
I don't think even Obama knows for sure at this point if he will actually throw his hat in the ring.

The thing I find most ironic, however, is your Ed board urging him to run despite the fact that the odds of him being endorsed by that same board are infinitesimal. He would be the first Democratic candidate ever endorsed by this paper should that happen.

I'm reminded of Lucy chuckling as Charlie Brown dashes headlong for the football.

OMG, I said I would start a thread like if nobody minded.

I'll do it a week before the election, okay?

Edit: Someone add to the OP that I'll do the prediction thread.

This is exciting.

Here we go!

I hope the city of Charlotte takes the hint from sustained high levels of ridership and expedites expansion of our fledgling light rail system. Best new use of tax money hands down.

Oregon's expansion of Tri-Max is well on its way to open next year :D

They've also added two more lines downtown for the street car. So awesome.

Election night is going to be EPIC, regardless of who wins. Could be EPIC WIN or FAILURE but it will effect the world and I'm sure everybody will be watching the result very closely ..

At the very end of the last thread there was something about John Oliver going to a Palin rally. Anyone have more info on that?
It's going to be for a Daily Show segment. I wish I had a date for when it would air, but all I know about it right now was what I heard from The Daily Bugle podcast on Monday.

Radical liberal education agenda. Ie, letting poor people go to the same colleges as rich people.
