Just watched the NBC McCain - Palin interview.

So bizarre, McCain looks like he is 100 years old and on death's door, and he visibly cringes every time Palin speaks. Unreal. :lol
Was it on the Nightly News?

Is that on YouTube somewhere?

Absolute 1000000% ownage.

They really should give him Meet the Press.
No. I seriously think Colbert deserves that show. Even when he's being nice, he challenges his guests. He asks harder-hitting questions IMO than a lot of serious political shows. And he uses his character to really follow through on a line of questioning, when he needs to. His interviews are the only ones I've ever looked forward to. I think the quality of his interviews gets overlooked b/c he's just a funny man playing a bit. PEACE.

There's always South American electi....

Naw, PoliGaf (as we know it) will be dead.
Electoral politics discussion will die, and this'll slow down, but Republicans will still keep doing silly-ass shit for us to point and laugh at. Onward!

I always thought it was ridiculous to think Obama would maintain his lead the way he was. Things will get tighter and tighter up until election day.

Caught me out too but I think Dax01 is referring to the Dow, and it was mostly about loss of confidence in 3rd quarter earnings of some big companies and others not meeting analysts expectations.

This race is getting tighter than Jessica Alba's ass.

You're breaking several internet laws by mentioning Jessica Alba's ass without posting pictures. If you don't comply with the law soon, I'll have to notify the e-police.

Old?

Yeah, I was talking about the Dow.

It's amazing because of where he pauses.

"Senator Obama's supporters have been saying some pretty nasty things."

Crowd starts to applause.

"And you know I couldn't agree with them more."

Awkward 2 second pause as he stops to realise what he says, and as crowd cheering quickly dies off.

"I couldn't agree with....I couldn't disagree with....I couldn't agree with you more. West Pennsylvania is the most patriotic, most god-loving, most patriotic."

Yeah the timing for that was perfect. It would have come off as a simple mistake if he had just said the whole thing without the lengthy pause for Obama booing in the middle. It really looked like he was sincere about what he was saying. I thought he was going to continue by saying "Fuck all of you, I'm out!" or something.

You know, i'm Canadian and even I know what a VP's job is. Wow, Palin... wow (honorary 'wow' going to the stupid woman in this video).

Jesus christ that was some sweet, sweet ownage. I just love Obama's guy right at the end of that video just grining and saying "anytime Chris" :lol That was awesome.

I do think the race will get tighter as we get closer to the election but according to pollster it hasn't so far.

Graph based on their most senitive setting.

edit: you know, I know Alba is hot. But it is amazing that she always seems to be hotter in pictures than my mental image.

golly I love Chris Matthews. Such a non-bullshit guy, and he really goes for the throat.

Anyway, as far as Palin's answer, while she was wrong, the question was not what is the role of the VP as defined by the constitution. Sure it's to sit around waiting for the president to croak and for tied votes in the senate, but that doesn't fully encapsulate what, say, Cheney or even Gore did as VP. The role of VP has evolved past its definition in the Constitution. So, I give her -8 points instead of -10. She's still retarded.

People have been saying this for months now, and so far it keeps not happening.

It may, but the predictive quality of such statements has been so far unimpressive.

On Hugh Hewitt’s radio show yesterday, Bachmann declared that “Barack Obama’s views are against America”:

BACHMANN: All I did on Chris Matthews is I questioned Chris Matthews and said, “look, if John McCain had friends like Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers and Father Pfleger, you’d be all over him Chris, but you’ve laid off of Barack Obama.” And so, he was using the word “Anti-American” and I told Chris, what I question are Barack Obama’s views. Because Barack Obama’s views are against America. They won’t be good for our country.

On Mike Gallagher’s radio show this morning, Bachmann attacked Obama’s policy proposals, asking rhetorically, “Are they for America or will they be against traditional American ideals and values?”:

BACHMANN: And they can’t take it because the point is what are Barack Obama’s policies? Are they for America or will they be against traditional American ideals and values? And I’ll tell you what. Punishing tax rates, redistribution of wealth, socialized medicine, inputing censorship in the form of the un-Fairness Doctrine and taking away the secret ballot from the worker has nothing to do with traditional American values. That’s why your listeners need to know. Otherwise the United States may be literally changed forever.

When Gallagher asked, “How is it not reasonable to wonder if that’s anti-American?,” Bachmann did not disagree with him. Instead, she simply replied, “what I did is touch a nerve, just like Joe the Plumber touched a nerve.”

the big picture.

+1

Fundamentals are still shit, Xmas receipts are going to look like February receipts, massive undisclosed debts are not being noted on balance sheets because of absurdly lax laws, many more companies will fail and many more layoffs will occur.

I'm watching the Nightly News interview right now, and it's just baffling how condescending both Palin and McCain are coming off these days. I've watched McCain in particular become more and more snide in his interviews, and this is kind of the pinnacle of it. He laughs in a condescending way at the interviewer, flat-out lies, and just generally comes off as an asshole. It's just.... I don't know.... bizarre and disconcerting.
