No shit, seriously. Try to get aid as a poor white guy, you get laughed at. I know, I tried.

Let's see, I'm white, and I have received the following with no problems at all:

SSI
Food Stamps
Incapacitated child coverage

Unfortunately, if I were not to have posted my story, the vast majority of the posters on this thread would have simply assumed that I was a rich kid who doesn't want his hedge fund taken away.

I assumed you were a bitter angry white guy who grew up poor. I live in Texas, which is full of people punishing the rest of the world for the fact that their daddy didn't love them. Hell, the President's been a real role model for them.

Yeah, the US Army is not a real army. It just tends to kick most other armies asses around the world, or bails them out when called upon.

I have watched heads explode like watermelons in the area I grew up in. I can most assuredly guess the caliber more than I could ever care for.

Ever been the only white guy in an apartment building that was the busiest crack house in a city of 800K?
You are full of shit.
Telling the caliber of the bullet from a gun shot wound to the head?
I'm guessing you've never even seen what a bullet does to the human body.

Nor would I know how you would acquire such skill; in the army you're actually trained to spot the difference in gunfire so you can tell friendly and enemy apart, how the fuck did you got to know it?
After every "head exploded like a watermelon" you've seen you went and talk to the shooter/coroner to make sure you know what ammo was used?

You've seen too many movies in your life.

Ok....

Now I see you for who you REALLY are.

This tirade of yours has NOTHING to do with politics.

At all.

Oh, and since you're in Florida, how's that water supply working out for you?

North Florida, we are keeping the leechers in South and Central Florida away from our water supply since we actually manage it right.

I use reclaimed water for my lawn, better than pumping it into the St Johns River, and saves the good stuff for drinking and such.

Sounds like you had it pretty tough. I'm glad your sister got the help she needed, but I'd be happy with a small tax increase if it helped more kids get the healthcare your family needed.

Yup, I love the Shriners, and kids without food/help are still a weakness of mine.

You guys are using the wrong tack with Jandar. Don't use specific examples.

Taxes are monetary, tangible manifestation of the entire concept of civilization. By banding together and sacrificing individual power, we gradually and eventually increase our joint wealth and prosperity.

It is no different than a native tribe creating a grain silo that they can jointly survive from, it is no different than forsaking absolute independence and submitting to the will of a chief, who can justly decide to kill you if you break the rules he has set down.

That's the entire concept of a society: we all sacrifice some personal power (be that in the form of commodities like grain listed above, free will like the right to murder or attack people to take their goods, or in monetary forms like taxes) to gradually create a better society for all of us.

Taxes, therefore, are not inherently bad unless you fundamentally disagree with the root concepts behind civilization. They also aren't inherently good -- they can certainly be exploited and misused -- but to be uniformly against taxes is about as absurd as being uniformly for them.

Whoa, whoa whoa whoa. You don't speak for North Florida.:lol

That could work, except that:

jandar isn't here to talk about taxes, politics or the election.

He has another obvious agenda.

I do believe in a working wage, and some basic help to get people oriented to the right direction. I just don't believe that my taxes should go to anyone not helping themselves.

Sad fact of the matter is, I saw first hand how many people were cheating the system to keep the money coming in. These are the people I resent the most.

I don't feel the need for universal healthcare managed by the government, we already have it. I know the clinics in town since I used them a lot when I had no healthcare insurance.

And like I said, the Shriners get my money all the time.

Unfortunately, if I were not to have posted my story, the vast majority of the posters on this thread would have simply assumed that I was a rich kid who doesn't want his hedge fund taken away.

I am not ashamed of my story, I use it as an example that if a poor white kid can do it, so can anyone else.

If one person can live his life without committing a crime, so can everyone.

Yet we have law enforcement.

While you want the rest of America to live the life of someone who spent his childhood in a crack house for the sake of proving your ideals right, China and other countries will send their youth in school to make them the best scientists, artists and engineers, launch massive infrastructure projects, and finance research and development of various sectors.

Want to bet who comes out on top in 20 years?

This is either about you, or your country. Your choice.

I thought like this when I was young and looked up to my dad for pulling himself up and finding shitloads of success, but then I grew up and took the blinders off. Things are a wee bit more complicated than the notion that hard work will pay off.

Take your life of fucking luxury by comparison and go pray at the Messiah's feet.

I live in Florida, the tourist taxes pay for most of the roads, its our way of being able to deal with you dumbasses year round.

I am just fucking fed up with this lazy ass society of WoW addicts who think that they know what life is all about and therefore should be listened to and not questioned.

You notice a single negative reply to a poster here and I got attacked by multiple people at the same time? But I have fought my whole life, proving your ideology wrong is a fun pasttime that helps alleviate stress.

There is if you are anything but a white guy.

Pot...Kettle...Black

Ahh, thanks for the niceties, I thought I was missing something.

:)

But hey I guess sweeping generalizations of a whole generation are a sign that a real genius mind is at work!:lol Enjoy your day good sir. I'll stop by your house the day after election day just laugh at you. Maybe setup a chair. Who knows.

Your life sounds like a real story. Joe Sixpack lives. Hurrah to our Messiah! He did all his work without any help from the government or taxes! YAY!

Dude, look up Jacksonville, Fl Murder Capital in google. Enough said.
I lost 2 friends to death when they were shot.

I had another that had 6 bullets in him in broad daylight in a mall parking lot. People ran from him while he was begging for help. Luckily he survived.

You never mentioned what Army, since you blasted the US Army. (of which two close friends are currently serving in)

Wow, I'm trying to listen to the rest of your posts, but I am just getting way to distracted on the pent-up passive aggressiveness regarding race. So, it is OK for the rest of the minorities living in your crack house apartment building to be there, but not you? Or, are you just jealous that their loan applications will magically get approved before yours?

Congratulations, buddy, you're the first person I've actually put on an ignore list.

Yeah, I am racist, the Cherokee blood in my veins pisses me off.
My wife's Mexican grandmother is pissed I married her granddaughter with my racist self.
My son is not loved since he is a mutt of Scottish/Irish/Cherokee/Mexican/(blackfoot or crow, wife's family not sure).

But, he is listed as white male on his records.

It's okay to admit you hate black people. Acceptance is the first step on the road to rehabilitation.

You know, I think that you have a really messed-up perspective of what taxes do for people, and what the benefits of a fair distribution of wealth are. But setting aside you ignorance when it comes to economics, let's explore taxes for a minute. Now it's time for a sob story, but it's not mine:
This story is about a man who was incredibly smart, had a good work ethic, was a good person, and lived a horrible life, growing up in Argentina. His government did next to nothing for the people, and though he had incredible talent in the field of engineering, he was dirt poor, had nobody to help him, and there was literally no way out of the hole he was in.

He and his young wife worked hard and saved their pennies, skipping meals and turning mealtimes into engligh-study-sessions instead, all hoping to one day be able to move to America. After many years, he and his yound, pregnant wife were able to immigrate to America. He ended up becoming a high-ranking, very well-payed engineer. This man was my grandfather, and his success paved the way for my father and for me.

When I was young, he'd tell me about the importance of hard work, and loving my family, and studying hard. But he also taught me one lesson that most grandparents probably don't bring up. When I was a teenager, he told me, "Never complain about paying your taxes. They made my success possible, they made your father possible, and they made you possible. You don't want to live in a country where your government doesn't support you."

I like to think that I learned a lot from that grandfather of mine, and I'm glad that I have his perspective, to contrast with your consdescending, spoiled view of what taxes do.

jandar: See, I'd argue that even though you started out in the shitty outskirts of society, you achieved success by gaining entrance into society proper, primarily through the government regulated banking system to provide financing(perhaps even usury laws to make sure you didn't get fucked over) and probably a state university where in-state tuition is already subsidized even before grants/scholarships. Of course, both of these pale in comparison to the support that a relatively well functioning government gives to a society and economy in the first place. If that weren't there you wouldn't have anywhere to go from your crackhouse.

What's more, after a certain point on the income ladder, money that you get through your hard-earned paycheck usually becomes overtaken by unearned income. You say you don't want people getting your money who aren't working for it, but one of the key differences between the two parties are attitudes towards earned/unearned income with respect to taxation. Not to mention that it's not just poor people who receive welfare.

Actually, I just did look it up. Jacksonville, Florida has the 26th highest per capita murder rate. That's lower than Dallas, a city I've walked all over without ever being particularly afraid.

It's waaaaay lower than Detroit, Baltimore, and New Orleans, more traditional murder capitol cities.

Oh, and what's the tonal difference between a 9mm hollow point and a .45 wad cutter? Is your bullet detection sense that keen?

The "Murder capital" use to be DC but New Orleans has taken the record as of late. Jacksonville is no where close.

As for Jacksonville being so "dangerous", I question that when its the 10th safest city (500,000 or more) in the country

original gangsta up in this thread

Let's not forget how much money "the rich" actually keep away from being taxed thanks to various loopholes they explore thanks to people they pay to manage their money. Now ask yourself how much money someone who makes 40,000 a year can shelter away.

Neither did I. That clip on Tuesday where they juxtaposed "real" America in Wasilla and the firefighters in NY during the Twin Towers debacle really hit it home for me.

Jacksonville isn't nearly as dangerous as he lets on, some neighborhoods are shit, but it's that way in any city.

You act as if white people have it especially difficult in this country compared to everyone else. You don't know shit, you're no better than the racist black people who rant and rave about the white man keeping them down.

And by the way, it is a logical fallacy to assume that since you made it, anyone else can. It really makes no sense, there is no connection there.
