Lmao, Faux News is in pure ache!

They had their specialists in for the past 3 hours saying "THE POLLS ARE WAY-WARD, THEY ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE..WE CANT TRUST THEM"

Then a few news segments later they mention "with the polls showing McCain is tightening his gap on Obama..."

I just don't know how in USA this news channel hasn't been made a mockery of more often
Its just like The Onion News.....except that its real.

And to say the polls are "All over the place".... they either have Obama winning by numbers greater than FDR vs. Hoover or... they have him winning in a squeaker? "All over the place" would imply some polls having McCain be the winner.

Palin gives her first policy speech today on special needs children.
http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives/2008/10/palin_will_spea.html

She's really stretching herself here with this one. I'm glad she's addressing such a pressing issue in today's extremely complicated world.

I think the polling has shown that among issue voters, the hierarchy is something like:

Economy (75%)
Iraq war (15%)
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
Special Needs Children (.000000001%)

Although I'm sure that after she gives her speech magically Special Needs Children will be a top issue among staunch Republicans.

I have no idea what the speech is gonna be about, but if it involves government assistance/programs in any way it's gonna be incredibly hypocritical.

I'm not saying I don't support programs for special needs, but these programs are about as "socialist" as you can possibly get. You can't advocate slashing government to the bone and eliminating all "socialist" concepts and then advocate this. These are the programs that are done because they appeal to our better half. They're definitely not economically sound IMO. I think government should do them. But I'm not running for President/V.P. and advocating the elimination of socialism.

Obama, the Democratic nominee, spent more than $105 million during the first two weeks of October, according to new campaign finance reports. He reported raising only $36 million for his campaign during that period, about half the fundraising pace he enjoyed in September."
"Obama had nearly $66 million in the bank at the end of the two week period and debts of about $2.3 million. The Democratic National Committee and the joint victory fund reported combined cash on hand of $31 million.
== if they raise 0 more monies, they had $95 million on oct 15th-ish
McCain and the Republican National Committee reported having a combined $84 million as of last week to spend before Election Day.
== $84 million as of october 15th-ish.
As of Oct. 15 he had more than $25 million in hand and more than $1 million in debts. The RNC, which has been helping his candidacy, had more than $59 million in the bank.

At McCain's spending rate of $1.5 million a day, the Arizona senator likely has only $12 million to spend in the next 11 days before the Nov. 4 election
but as of this morning, he had $12 million, with the RNC, still able to raise money, picking up the rest

not AS good a position, but still omg so much money

LOL...I like how it states a bunch of hypotheses and then seeks to disprove them. Isn't that backwards? And even ignoring the standard scientific method, when you're arguing it's just stupid to state the opposite of what you're trying to argue for...e.g., "I beat my wife...now let me tell you why that isn't true". :lol

in other news, in the Stevens trial, juror #4 (not to be confused with angry violent juror #9 who the others don't like) left washington DC yesterday. her dad died, so she told a marshall she had a family emergency and left. they couldnt reach her for hours, and she doesnt know when she'll be back.

they are trying to figure out if they can recess till monday if she'll be back then, impanel an alternate juror and start deliberations over from scratch, or what.

what a crazy trial.

I'm sure PoliViewGAF is all over this story, but Elisabeth Hasselbeck is going to be campaigning with Palin.

Just what the Republicans need, two moronic women on stage that don't have a clue.

It's proof positive of how bad the campaign is that they've got to use a surrogate like that.

Yeah. But that's not exactly a concept Democrats are familiar with. We've gotta worry about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. So melodramatic wins are definitely preferable.

Article the other day in the Fort Myers' paper had this area usually voting 54-38 (R-D). So that's definitely a huge turnaround in voting.

But as I've commented before, it's absolutely surreal how McCain bumper stickers/yard signs are non-existent when Republican propaganda usually floods the area. So I'm not surprised one bit.

That was the lead story on their website yesterday, too. It's amazing how much MSNBC is in the tank for Obama. Commie site.

In retrospect, the elation that we can have on Nov 4 is when Barack outperforms the polls, capturing even states like Georgia.

HONOLULU - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he's not sure his gravely ill grandmother will live to see Election Day.

Obama flew to Hawaii to visit Madelyn Dunham, 85, who helped raise Obama. The Illinois senator said he left the campaign trail with less than two weeks remaining before the election because his grandmother is ill but alert. Her brother has said she recently fell and broke a hip.

"Without going through the details too much, she's gravely ill. We weren't sure and I'm still not sure whether she makes it to Election Day," Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview broadcast Friday.

I'm sorry, but I would totally vote for a McCain-Hasselbeck ticket. She is unbelievably hot. That's one thing I never understood. If McCain is going to have an idiot trophy vp, why couldn't she be attractive and not a goddamn schoolmarm?

She's hot in a librarian kind of way.

Yes. Georgia. Maybe one of the mountain states. Arizona uncomfortable close. That's hopefully what our drama will focus on.

Georgia, West Virginia, Montana, North Dakota, Indiana.. 4 of those 5 states had strong Obama ground games during the primaries which could mean he outperforms and takes the state if it turns into a landslide.

WV is the biggest stretch simply because Obama ignored it during the primaries and has no ground game.

Ahahah Mahoney really went all in

A document obtained by ABC News reveals new allegations of threatening behavior and sexual harassment toward a female staffer, that go far beyond Mahoney's public confession, including claims that he urged one of his mistresses to serve as a "tease" for big donors.

The former Congressional staff member, Patricia Allen, was paid $121,000 by Mahoney after she was fired and threatened to sue.

The settlement was reached after Allen hired a lawyer who sent the Congressman a "demand" letter, listing specific examples of Mahoney's alleged "gross misconduct" and "stalking" including:

"a) Calling Allen late in the evenings and demanding "phone sex;"
b) Demanding that Allen answer his calls or face termination;

c) Demanding that Allen attend fundraisers and "tease c-ck" to bring in more donations from the male members of the public;

d) Demanding that Allen engage in sexual conduct with another woman for his enjoyment."

Current and former staffers told ABC News the allegations contained in the "demand letter" sent to Mahoney were backed up by tape recordings of phone calls between the Congressman and Allen

Who was the highest paid individual in Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October as it headed down the homestretch?

Not Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser; not Nicolle Wallace, his senior communications staff member. It was Amy Strozzi, who was identified by the Washington Post this week as Gov. Sarah Palin’s traveling makeup artist, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.

Ms. Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her makeup work on the television show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, was paid $22,800 for the first two weeks of October alone, according to the records. The campaign categorized Ms. Strozzi’s payment as “PERSONNEL SVC/EQUIPMENT.”

The payment on Oct. 10 made Ms. Strozzi the single highest-paid individual in the campaign for that two-week period. (There were more than two dozen companies that got larger payments than Ms. Strozzi). She easily beat out Mr. Scheunemann, who received $12,500 in the first half of October, and Ms. Wallace, who got $12,000.

Well, maybe not

The house market bursting, that SWFL is very dependent on, is probably the reason for this.

Edit: Construction jobs have pretty much entirely dried up.
Although I'm sure that there have been inroads in the Southwest here in Florida. But, if I recall, Dade, Broward, and West Palm Beach Counties all went blue in 2004. I thought they always went blue as they are urban areas.

Having said that, I have seen far greater numbers of Obama signs and bumper stickers compared to McCain....I'd say about 5:1 ratio.

By the way, I live around some right-wing nutsos and one of them has adorned the back of his SUV with stickers of McCain, Mario Diaz-Ballart (ugh...), and (wait for it....) "Sarah Palin is my BFF" with hearts around it.

From DailyKos, today's trackers thus far:

R2K:
Obama 52 (51)
McCain 40 (41)

Reuters/Zogby:
Obama 51 (52)
McCain 41 (40)

Rasmussen:
Obama 52 (52)
McCain 45 (45)

Diageo/Hotline:
