I just read the CNN Palin article -

Palin reminds of the boxer in the movie, "Great White Hype". an amateur plucked from obscurity who's naive and initially leans heavily on his handlers, but soon starts believing his own hype.

I honestly don't know why some Republicans label her the "Rockstar" of the party. If you strip away the fluff what exactly has she done exceptional this campaign?

+ She proved that she can give a good scripted speech.
- But she hasn't put an ounce of ink toward her speeches. Her handlers right the script.
- She's completely clueless on foreign policy. She's not "Governor Dumb", she's "Average Joe" dumb on foreign policy. Most of us here probably have a better grasp of foreign issues than her.
- She's almost as clueless on national issues that don't involve energy. And even with energy, her knowledge base mostly revolves around oil not other alternative forms of energy.
- She's another inept speaker ala Bush when off script. Everyone of her interviews have either been "meh" or outright embarrassing.
- She may be smart but she certainly hasn't shown it yet. The VP debate was basically her picking and choosing mini-stump speeches. She did not display any critical thinking.
- She clearly doesn't have moderate or cross-party appeal except from guys who want to f*ck her.

After Nov. 4th, I'm really curious to see just how big the "Palin Loyalist" contingent is. Republicans in general are great at towing the party line. They'll stay on message and say just about anything in order to present a unified front through election day. Remember it's actually what killed them in the '06 mid-terms. Many of the Repubs were towing the "Stay the Course" message, but then Bush changed it abruptly. Anyway, I think Palin's cheerleaders will get MUCH smaller after November when they're no longer worried about winning the election and holding on to congressional seats.

I still can't figure out how they think she's the next best thing. She was popular for, what, a week, week and a half after the convention? Then she tanked hard and took McCain with her. I guess they figure things will go so well with Obama that we can have a "personalities" election again and she'll be the obvious choice. Or maybe they just don't have any alternatives.

They are using is logo as well.

Couldn't they get into some real trouble for that? That's some serious voter fraud. It's one thing to send something out anonymously and imply it's from the democrats but quite another to slap Obama's logo on there.

And government kind of moving into the role as the other half of our family, making decisions for us. Now, they do this in other countries where the people are not free.

Sort of, like, maybe, her stances on abortion and gay marriage?

I support Socialist motherland Obama.

I liked the Bible cover at the end personally.

I'm not sure I understand? You don't like the college?

I would have taken your criticism of someone who was tough on a Democrat with a large grain of salt, is all. Then I would have politely asked you to put away the bongos and hackie sack.

Seems like South Dakota is being weighed towards McCain by Rapid City; it'd be interesting to see the split with Sioux Falls. Then again it could just be that, for whatever reason, SD is fine with democrats in the house and senate, but not in the white house.

I think you underestimate the anti-intellectualism of the Republican base. There's a large portion who do no critical thinking. So even if they see her stupidy with their own eyes, it's like they don't even process it...they wait for whatever Limbaugh or Hannity have to say and just take that as truth. As long as she has the conservative talk pundits are on her side she'll sail through any future primaries.

Living in the South I experience this all the time. I can show them a clip of something and ask them to comment it and they basically have nothing to say...then they go listen to Limbaugh and the next day they come back repeating him word for word.

Not only do they process it, they cherish it. Intellect and thoughtfulness takes a back seat to the intangible "one of us" trait-folk wisdom, if you will.

Bah, I gotcha. But while the school is quite liberal, there are a lot more conservatives than you might think.

CALEDONIA, Wis. - Police in Caledonia say they're investigating a weekend attack on a Barack Obama campaign worker.

Nancy Takehara tells WISN-TV she drove from Chicago to help canvass a neighborhood in Caledonia Saturday on behalf of the Democratic presidential nominee.

Ronald Goetsch says he had a heated verbal exchange with Takehara over allegations of voter improprieties in other states and the role of voter registration groups and asked her numerous times to leave his property.

Takehara says Goetsch grabbed her by the back of the neck and was pounding her head and screaming.

Goetsch tells The Journal Times in Racine that he did pull the woman's hair and regrets his actions.

Police say their report on the incident will be forwarded to the Racine County District Attorney's office when it's complete.

Fucking sheep. It's downright frightening.

Alright, I like Obama's switch from the Lone Ranger and Tonto bit to saying that McCain getting mad at Bush and separating is like Robin getting mad at Batman.:lol

Wow @ the dirty Arabs comment...

Yeah, he needs to win for all them too.

I'd love to see them interviewed AFTERWARDS if he wins...

This is a serious statement, but:

How many post-election-induced suicides/murders do you think there are going to be when Obama takes office? I can only imagine that some of these extreme right republicans are just going to go ape shit...

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/Obama_McCain_as_Robin_attacking_Batman.html#comments

In Albuquerque, before a massive crowd, Obama moves away from the (politically incorrect?) Lone Ranger and Tonto analogy to a new one: "It’s like Robin getting mad at Batman," he says of McCain's recent efforts to distance himself from Bush.

A fire marshall puts the crowd at at least 45,000, many times that at McCain's roughly 1,000-person event a couple of miles away this morning.

Obama, meanwhile, is playing it safe and avoiding the press, with the sole exception of a correspondent from "Extra!" who asked about his grandmother's health, his reaction to the Jennifer Hudson's family tragedy, and why Latinos should vote for him.

(My pace of blogging is up a bit for a weekend because I'm on the road, and because we're in the home stretch.)

Two things. Awesome making McCain into Robin. Second, good lord 45k to 1k in the same fucking town.:lol

If someone commits either murder or suicide following Obama getting elected, there were deeper problems in their psyche WAY before this election cycle...

Trust me I have thought about this too. After seeing some of these videos I feel like if mccain loses some of these people will try to attack the closest black or arab person in the vicinity.

It's only a matter of time until we start reading stories about people building "apocalypse bunkers" and shit.

Yes pretty much called drudge shit. Drudge deserves everything he gets.

Drudge has been absolutely non-influential in this election. It's quite delightful to watch him try to vainly push stories into the mainstream media and failing to reach anything beyond Fox news.

Bu-bu-but we need to have the riot police in "other" areas...

=/

I think some of these people live faaaaaaar away from blacks/arabs. Part of the reason why they have this mentality in the first place.

Thing is, being attacked by Olbermann makes the Drudge Report only more popular with Republicans.

If they were watching Olbermann in the first place. >_<

My favourite part from that video was the quote from the FoxNews VP anyway: "if this incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain's quest for the presidency is over" - whoops! :lol
