If COD is on Gamepass, where does that leave Warzone?

Also, I'm sure a lot of people still buy COD on Xbox? That and FIFA are the only games my son and his mates buy every year. I don't see how putting it on Gamepass is going to make up for lost sales?

I put my game pass hat on and there's a lot to play, I always say if you make a game share it with every service it will probably be on epic game store, steam, ps4's store so my gut feeling is it will be on Xbox either Xbox marketplace or game pass.

That's the naivety that a lot of people have.

That's not going to happen, of course there can be a game here and there like a Minecraft Legends or Sekiro. But that won't be the norm.

This is precious. Everyone was saying, "sure Activision may put their smaller games on Game Pass, but NOT CoD". The naivety was supposed to be Call of Duty, but now we're seeing how they're willing to put their biggest cash cow there Day ONE. Naivety is believing they won't do it with other titles.

I think it will devalue COD, they will reverse the decision after sales plummet and then everyone will expect it to be free on gamepass

Another PR nightmare.
If most people expect COD to be "free on Game Pass", doesn't that mean that they got most COD players on the service therefore helped them achieve their goal, therefore they'll have ZERO reasons to reverse the decision?

IMO there are only two possibilities:
1. The games doesn't do much for Game Pass and it continues selling as always anywhere else
2. The game is a big hit to Game Pass and MS now have all the incentives to keep it there

well. CoD on Game Pass makes Xbox (Game Pass) better. that's not debatable. The best deal in gaming just got better.

The question is if CoD alone is enough for Game Pass to be as successful as MS wants. I don't think so.

The last point you make is definitely something MS is going to deal with. the management of the studios and internal politics are things still very much at play in the next 2-4 years
Epic games is the best deal in gaming. You get games for literally free. That's never been true about GamePass.
I'd also argue PS+ Extra is a better deal but that's subjective.
Plus this CoD might come with a higher sub cost/tier. So you can't even really tell what the deal is yet.

We will have to wait and see I guess. Maybe the release after this one will be a more accurate overview in terms of Call of Duty.

Xbox itself needs an overhaul in my opinion. The current management and their groupies are a detriment to the good of the brand. I'd love it if we got new people with a better overall performance to start to meet some of its potential especially with console.

bro....MS killed Tango and Arkane and Toys for Bob managed to scape.

Now look at the state of fucking industy.

Better for cod players on xbox I guess, but at the same time, wouldn't it just be better for cod players to buy a copy, instead of paying a monthly fee that would end up going over the game price eventually.

i will argue that the best deal in gaming is actually all the Free to Play games.

But COD is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) IP in united states. so yeah, there you go.

regarding the price point of the service, sure; they have to increse it, maybe between 25-30 USD? (still cheaper that buying game day one)

as I said many times now. Game Pass just don't make sense. but this was not the point of your poll.

Bro... Redfall is not worth the toilet paper used to wipe it off, heck the toilet didn't want that turd and overflowed as I tried to flush it :lollipop_poop: Now it's defining the state of the industry?? 🤯

I'll admit, I was a bit surprised about Tango Gameworks, but after finding out they were nothing more than a skeleton crew, I wasn't as shocked, hardly something that should be defining the "State of the Industry". It's constantly argued that Microsoft is not the leader of anything, until someone needs to be blamed for the state of an entire industry, now suddenly they're somehow leading it somewhere. How convenient.

I do not think XB is going I to see a major spike in Game Pass subs. What will be more interesting is will PlayStation have a drop in COD players? I believe that is the bigger play. Get players off of the PlayStation consoles and onto Microsoft's platform even if it is on PC.

In order to have an impact, it's going to need a tier that has all dlc for free. I don't think most people new to Gamepass just for this game are going to be amused when they are stuck with just vanilla (with paid dlc) if that is the con of Ultimate. Now if they have an extra more expensive tier for this game and the benefits are abysmal, then there is going to be a problem.

At this point in the generation, adding it to Gamepass is not going to make much of a difference in the fortunes of Xbox.
Maybe a Black Ops 6 Xbox bundle will help a bit during the holiday season.

I wonder if it does anything for PC Gamepass numbers. I have my doubts.

But it will be the first COD I play beyond Warzone... in a LONG time.

not worth having a conversation with ignorant/fanboys people like yourself.

FYI
Tango was not a skeleton crew

fucking embarassing

I could see them offering a discount on COD to purchase down the line for Ultimate users and it being "free" if a new tier is implemented.

I hope it makes Xbox better. They could use a damn win.

It'll be a sad day if they exit the console market… less competition is always a bad thing for consumers.

CoD on Game Pass is certainly not going to save Xbox if they are making everything multiplat. In fact, I really don't know what their plans for Game Pass are now since it is so dependant on Xbox consoles.

That'll definitely be the short term result.

Probably won't in the short term, but it'll bring in less money and future games could get more and more built around being in a service.
We've seen other games change from knowing it'll be in a service.
Or it could bring in more players and subscriptions. Leading to more revenue from all the BS micro transactions in the game.

Love people that make statements as if they are fact.

I'd believe it if they made it GamePass exclusive. But I guess you're right that I can't say for sure it'll lose money.
We haven't seen any indicators of one game really causing that much of a sustained bump but we'll see I guess.

This will surely boost GP subs and they will have a lot of people playing the game one way or the other which means more mtx income.

I'd say neither, but should end some of the conversation about Microsoft's seriousness. But probably won't...

Then I remember how hard Sony fought to try and block the acquisition and wonder if maybe I don't fully understand how big COD actually is.

A campaign of 3 - 5 hours that's full of action
A multiplayer with thousands of skins/challenges/titles/backgrounds/medals for you to unlock.

CoD isn't measured in frames per second but is measured in metal riffs per second.

It's an easy formula that will continue to work. It will not do anything bound breaking, nor will it do anything particularly exciting or new.

I think the concern is that people could stop buying it at 70$ on any platform if it becomes available on a subscription service for one platform, because that availability becomes associated with a (perceived) lack of quality.

avin
Exactly. CoD yearly $80 release will start to lose its prestige.

Nothing changes. The only difference maker will be how good the GAME is. Not the platform, not the purchase method....the End Product.
