Ok but one of these consoles has both (the majority of console gamers do not have a pc that could run titanfall).

Wouldn't be surprise - MS and EA have been all buddy-buddy. When did that start? EA's always given Sony exclusive content and such. What changed?

ea does not own the ip, they can't sell it. it would have to be respawn to sell, which I very much doubt.

I'm doubting this until Respawn confirms. They seemed legitimately upset that Titanfall 1 was an exclusive so I don't get why they would sell. I don't think any amount of money MS throws them would equal the potential profits from a multiplat franchise.

I guess. I'm trying to understand how EA sold the IP to Microsoft when Respawn owned the IP and Vince Zampella has already said that beyond Titanfall 1, it will be on other platforms.

The only way this happens is if Respawn sold their IP to MS. I would like to understand the thought process and execution of the deal.

Is this a serious comment? No, moneyhatting is not the same as funding and helping develop a 1st party game, are you daft? One limits the intended exposure of the game, the other makes the game (which wouldn't have existed otherwise) possible. Sweet jesus.

I thought the same thing. I also thought part of the reason Respawn Entertainment was started because Jason West and Vince Zampella wanted to own the IP of games they made (Jason West has since left/retired).

I can imagine MS signing a deal like they did with Epic for Gears of War and let Respawn own the IP but have a deal in place for video games to be exclusive to their platform. Or maybe if MS did buy the IP from Respawn they only bought a percentage of the IP or they agreed to allow Respawn to manage and develop the IP (and no one else).

Other than that MS could buy Respawn but then again that seems unlikely with Vince Zampella's past history with Activision and preferring more freedom (going by reports).

Respawn owns the IP. They sign the contracts.

This "poor respawn" shit has to stop.

Honestly, I don't think either of us are right here considering when Titanfall when Xbone exclusive on official terms, Respawn didn't know until the rest of us did.

This sounds like some real interesting wheeling and dealing between Microsoft and EA and they're the only ones who will be able to make it clear, and we will never hear about 90% of what's actually transpiring.

Edit: Or not? Man, common sense and general industry history has no bearing on the dealings between EA and Respawn.
