Polygon: all ps4 games are cancelled

Polygon...when you thought you had seen the bottom of the barrel in games journalism...they manage to sink even Lower

The way i see it working is that Respawn have entered in to a contractual agreement with EA where they will be exclusive publishers of Respawn software. If EA don't want to publish Respawn games on other consoles then they don't have to.

EA have then entered into an agreement with Microsoft where they will only publish Titanfall games on the xbox and PC hence Titanfall not being released anywhere else. IP has not changed hands, Respawn couldve been left out of the loop etc.

That's my bet. No way EA would have ponied up the cash while allowing Respawn to just walk. Respawn will probably never get told what to put in Titanfall, but we've already seen they've got no control over where it goes.

Uh, no that's not how this works.

Respawn owns the IP. They sign the contracts.

This "poor respawn" shit has to stop.

Yep, and as far as Respawn is concerned MS's money is just as good as Sony or anybody else. So IF this deal happened I am sure Respawn was part of the decision (or prior ones that waved the right) and got paid.

This thread lives in a world where Destiny doesn't exist. I think Titanfall looks great but I feel like Destiny will be the next "big one"

I really don't see the appeal of Destiny. It looks like a more serious Borderlands, and Borderlands was great because of how ridiculous it was. The basic gunplay looks average and the seamless multiplayer stuff doesn't look all that amazing. I say this as a massive Halo and Bungie fanboy.

LOL

Respawn just found out about this, right now.

Hahaha.

Pretty much.

There seem to be an awful lot of moving parts for this to be true. Do MS presumably have to compensate EA as well in this deal? Are MS buying the Ip directly from Respawn or are they in fact buying Respawn themselves?

Frankly is this is true (and I doubt it) then it smacks of desperation on MS' behalf. Even if Titanfall is something super special to turn the money hose on the situation in such a cavalier manner at this 'late stage' just seems a little panicked.

Actually I heard it was that ps4 itself was cancelled and Sony is going to become a health food company

Hence "best brand soda" and "mcdonalds" campaigns???

Poor sony fans that don't have a pc... which is like 80% of them. That's brutal moneyhats...

I... what?

If anything that would be Xbox fans... most techy / PC enthusiasts I've met have either a Nintendo or Sony console... it's anecdotal.. but seems to be a trend.

Hastily transcribed around 1:10 in the video:

"We know what Microsoft's got coming out. They've already shown some of it, they've talked about it and they've already put Titanfall with a giant pin on the map. In order to hammer that Titanfall "1" was always going to be an Xbox/PC exclusive. In order to really hammer that in, they've bought the rights to the whole series."

"Oh, ok"

"Oh, oh they did"

"It it it's not just the first..."

"Titanfall 2 will never... They bought Titanfall"

"Uh.... Probably a good business move for them"

"Probably a good buy. Dump truck of money."

I love how at the end he acts like it is insider information that he is leaking. When really it's just made up bullshit to please their masters.

Yea, and some people wonder why their reputation is shit on here. Then again, if there was anything Polygon COULD have information on, it would be something happening within MS. :D

well don't be too sure..I mean Arthur gies was hell bent on believing a secret sauce etc lol

OR

it could be very well because they know the issues that they try to damage control by spreading fud and live streams akin to the youtube comment section

He's from Polygon. I don't think he has any integrity to be taken seriously.

If it is true then Titanfall is going to get destroyed by COD/BF/Destiny.

Well, if one were to put their tin foil hat on, Polygon's prelaunch documentary was totally sponsored by Internet Explorer. And they sure have had a lot of Microsoft exclusives lately (like that Live article).

So....
