Polygon Caught Lying About PS4 on Their Xbox One Stream

I'm just tired of talking about them. I've never visited their site. The only reason I'm even aware they exist is because the weird obsession some members of GAF have with them. It seems simple enough to me. If you don't like it don't consume their media.

It's exactly what I do with Fox News. My TV has never been on that channel because I know I don't have any confidence in what they are saying.

Not really lying.

I gotta agree with Chris, the fact you feel so strongly about a trivial mistake on a livestream makes Jeremy Conrad seem kind of weird.

While I don't think they should be banned, I sort of hope they are just so I don't see threads, many of which not having to do with them specifically, flooded with vile hatred towards them on a consistent basis. Having said that, referring to this as intentionally malicious misinformation is a MASSIVE stretch.

What a stupid point to make. As soon as Grandma see either consoles Home screens shes going to have a heart attack trying to figure out how to play a movie.

Hang on. The PS4 supporting HDMI-CEC makes sense, PS3 does that.

But does the Xbox come with a remote control? Didn't hear anything about that.

Why did Chris Grant call him a "creep" or "weird dude"? What did he say that was creepy or weird?
What's even weird/sad is that Chris grant blocked him off twitter after he was corrected. I thought you suppose to say sorry Thx for catching that and then put up a little correction statement on twitter/article

If this the gauge then everyone is lying. I love the GiantBomb crew but they always seem to make mistakes about something. Not willing to go as far to call them liars though.

The "Polygon is biased towards Xbox" allegation is completely baseless in my opinion, this seems like making yet another mountain out of yet another mole hill. Jeremy Conrad on the other hand...

People calling for a Polygon ban should be cautious what they wish for. Without them, there would be nothing to riot over. It was said in error.

Or who knows, maybe Microsoft paid them millions and millions of US money dollars to spread this sick filth about remote support. That must be it!

This I think.

I was asking only the other day if the PS4 supports HDMI-CEC, and no one seemed to know if it did, this is the first confirmation I have seen that it does.

It does. I've been telling people it does. That's exactly how I'm controlling it with my harmony remote. It's not ideal, but it works.

He even used the example that grandma would want to use the Xbox One over the PS4 because she wouldnÂ’t want to use the Dual Shock 4 to watch a movie.
this is the stupidest comparison ever. Grandma wouldn't want to use either of these confusing things to watch a movie.

saying this is "lying" is a bit of a stretch. misinformed? sure. I don't think there's malice here
Exactly. What an effing nerd, attacking someone for being misinformed over remote control support on a video game console. People need some perspective in their lives. This is entertainment, not life and death. Goddamn.

Yeah, OP, you come across as a bit of an unstable uber-nerd here. Besides, using CEC from my Vizio to my PS3 doesn't work. It's constantly sending double inputs making it largely unusable.

Well it was close to a million.

Never assume malice what can be explained by ignorance.

And in that case, must we be informed of Polygon's every slip up and mistake? Lord knows they've had enough of them by now.

This. I dislike some Polygon personnel, but this is a little too far.

Maybe when some people here stop pretending there's no bias at all from them just because of review scores then maybe people will stop posting about it.

Shit

Seriously, who cares about some silly clowns who can't write a damn and whether they like one plastic box over another plastic box? They're already doomed to irrelevance whether or not they're biased; even if they weren't slobbering over Microsoft's new toy they'd still be saying nothing of fucking worth.

So can we please move on from the goddamn same refrain of bias bias bias and just ignore their stupid drivel already?

Holy shit! I even use this at home.

Perhaps more ignorant than outright lying.

Perhaps definitive statements should not be made if there is ignorance involved? Maybe he should do his job and do some proper research, or I dunno, maybe ask Sony if it is compatible with those remotes? Just a thought.

Plenty of media outlets make mistakes like this and have done hundreds of times on their various podcats. There is no intent to misinform here, it's just lack of knowledge or clarity. I admit that's not great either, but there's a world of difference between that and lies.

This has become a witch hunt on Polygon.

They were mistaken about the Titanfall situation as well. Forgot if it was Grant.

They should really research before claiming facts.

Guys seriously. They are not lying. They are just wrong. You can't attribute malice to general polygon incompetence.

Not outright lying, just ignorance. They should correct themselves but they won't.

Watching live streams is always frustrating on this stuff though as a lot of the presenters do not know the systems as well as some here, so there is always something to gripe over.

Guys, if you really want to humiliate someone in (at least their own minds) a position of influence/power, simply expose the facts in succinct, irrefutable statements. Leave all hints of aggression at the door and the offender will look extra foolish for whatever they do next (dispute facts, block you, try to discredit you, etc).

I've noticed at least Chris Grant and Arthur Gies (maybe other Polygon guys but I don't follow any of the others) have a VERY hard time admitting they are wrong. In fact, they pretty much don't do it.
