Polygon: Disney can save Nintendo, for 19 Billion.

Sounds good to me. What's the worst that could happen, another LucasArts, right?

Yeah, this is stupid and I hope it never ever happens.

The article's title is clearly clickbait with the word "saving". However, this is just a hypothetical piece saying "what if" and how much it would cost.

Criticize the title if you want, but it's simply a hypothetical. So much anti-Polygon circlejerking on this forum.

I wonder why?

What is the purpose of writing an article like this? HEY GUYS JUST SAYING...IF THIS HAPPENS, I CALLED IT!

The most hilarious part would be Disney, Marvel AND Star Wars games being forever exclusive to Nintendo consoles.

This article is about an argument for a hypothetical situation and the reasons why it would be a good idea.

Then it shoots the argument down as implausible.

This is literally a pointless article.

Maybe Disney should buy Polygon so that Polygon becomes so successful that they won't need to come up with shit articles like this one.

During one of my regular business chats with my father, who is a retired CEO, I predicted that Pixar was going to buy Disney and turn the company around.

Are there no editors at Polygon who could have politely told him how much of a douche that sentence makes him sound?

This is ridiculous. Disney is not going to buy a floundering company. They already make games that sell on all platforms.

People wonder why we say "lol Polygon", it's pointless articles like this.

If i was going to pick a company to "save" Nintendo I wouldnt pick the one that scraps and reboots its gaming portion every few years

It would still cost a ton of money. To put the $19 billion-ish price into an easy to digest number, buying Nintendo would cost Disney more money than they paid for Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel, combined. It’s a huge purchase, unless you’re Disney.
That's a lot of space bucks.

Marvel has never been better and we are finally getting new (good?) Star Wars movies.
Nintendo movies from the Disney Animation studio/wreck it Ralf team would be amazing.
A real life Nintendo Land? Yes please.
I wouldn't mind it too much ,though i prefer it if they stuck to making games for their own hardware.

Because they want clicks. It's not a question and I'm not arguing for it. But it seems like a bunch of people are just going "oh polygon lol this is so stupid" without reading the article.

But that's exactly why people don't like them. Well, it's one of the many very legitimate reasons why people don't like them. It's without question the worst major gaming site there is. No competition now that Kotaku has turned the corner.

Its not going to happen, but Disney and Nintendo working together would be interesting lol.

I would argue that Marvel was already moving in the right direction before Disney bought them and More Star Wars movies can be seen as both a good thing and a bad thing I guess.

I can only imagine the further proliferation of smartphone, mobile, tablet "category" games under nintendo "development" with the acquisition

by proliferation I mean start

It's 2 years old, but according to this website "Nintendo has £6.7 ($10.5) billion in the bank and, even if making big losses every year, that considerable nest egg would keep the company going until 2052." I don't think they need saving, but thanks Polygon.

But I'd be down for a Disney-Nintendo theme park venture.
Yeah Nintendo could make a business deal with Disney for a Nintendo theme park, now that would be cool indeed!
A StarFox attraction à la StarWars
A Mario ghost house
A speedy F-Zero ride
A Mario kart track with karts
etc...

Believe me, we read the article. Otherwise we wouldn't be mocking the author for making a prediction at the start and then declaring the prediction's own failure at the end. In absolute ("will never happen") statements, no less.

"This article is clickbait.

Why u hatin on Polygon, GAF?"

If someone were to suggest to me a list of events that may occur within the videogames industry, this would be pretty near the top of my list of shit that I hope I never live to see. I think this would destroy the Nintendo that I have grown up loving.

I can see it going both ways.

A floundering company would be a cheap and easy way of increasing portfolio. Especially if said opportunity only comes once.

But trying to explain that decision to shareholders would be the tough part.

Investor: We've seen Nintendo's fiscal records and all projections point downwards. We are interested in growth, not negative profits.

That's what people said about Marvel lol.

Posted on Nintendo's biggest day of the year, huh?

I'm not clicking on that. Fetid clickbait.

THIS Seriously they did something similar when MK8 release. They posted a controversial article against Nintendo. Just, ughh. Why you do this Polygon?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Polygon you horrible site, your clickbait crap deserves all the laughter in the world on how stupid they are.
