Now, that doesn't even make sense or are you claiming somekind of god fixed parts of the galaxy because it would be boring otherwise?
Anyone else wants a youtube channel full of these gifs, or at least a Playstation Live broadcast of these bots doing their thing?
Are they going to release those gifs?
Feel like they have to, otherwise why bother even announcing this?
Can't imagine it would be fun to play through 10 hours and only encounter one garden planet.Planets full of life are going to be pretty rare. Not as rare as in real life - but in like 10 hours of gameplay I'm going to assume you'll come across maybe one full on garden planet like in the reveal trailer. It's not like you are going to be seeing enough planets with "giraffes" to get burned out on giraffe variations.

What do you think fixed means and what were you wanting instead?
Can't imagine it would be fun to play through 10 hours and only encounter one garden planet.
Therefore, I can't see that happening.
Gameplay rather than realism innit.

Yeah I doubt it'll be THAT rare to come across.
I would really like to see this. Because this game will live and die by whether or not you're constantly running into variants of "ice planet, swamp planet, volcano planet", etc
It'll get boring if the generation isn't interesting enough.
Maybe you should read the article and several posts in this thread again.
Good lord will this game PLEASE get a release date.
BECAUSE THE GAME ISN'T READY!

Yeah, that might be a stretch but I agree with his point. With fleets and escort missions and space stations and asteroid fields there looks to be plenty of other things to do in between finding planets with life.
LOL and here I was trying to be nice and give you an opportunity to clarify what you mean.
That's where the robot probe comes in, flying from planet to planet, making the animated GIFs, so that the folks at Hello Games can make sure everything looks acceptable. That there aren't too many red planets; if so, they can fly in and tweak things to ensure consistency and coherency.

There will be more planets with LIFE than that. Just not fully developed garden planets like in the reveal trailer.
Seriously. After the order, halo, drive club, assassins creed unity, etc., I figured people would stop listening to anything developers/publishers said about their game until there was a playable version or user impression. The developers made a huge mistake hyping this game. I guarantee it will not live up to any of the shit you're imagining in your head right now.
http://www.theverge.com/2014/7/1/5856718/no-mans-sky-previewThe developers have set themselves a 9010 rule. 90 percent of all the planets will not be habitable and wont have any life on them. Of the 10 percent that do, 90 percent of that life will be primitive and boring. The tiny fraction of garden worlds with more evolved life forms on them will thus be almost as rare in the game universe as they ought to be in the real one. This scarcity is part of the delicate balance that Hello Games is trying to strike between its idealistic commitment to the science of sci-fi and the inherent need to keep players entertained.

Tweak the algorithm that creates the planets, not individual planets. The way the game is designed makes it impossible to go in an tweak individual things like you are suggesting.
You are embarassing yourself.
They are tweaking the algorithms, not billions of fucking planets.
I love shit like this.Uuugh, just because it's "fixed" doesn't mean it's known.
Elite: Dangerous takes place inside of an accurate simulation of the Milky Way galaxy, with over 400 billion systems. Elite has been out for a few months now, and players have been exploring the galaxy. The result?
This guy traveled 144,000 light years over the course of ten weeks to reach the edge of the Milky Way.
Point is: a "fixed" galaxy does not mean it is known.
Well, this one is based on a GDC talk, so there's an actual reason for its existence.I've never seen a game get so many "making of" articles before it's even out.
So you are against them trying to make sure the procedural generation doesn't result into to many samey planets, creatures and such? It sounds like they have an algorithm that they are constantly tweaking based on these probes and once they have a final algorithm then the will seed actual universe and hit go.
It sounds like you want them to take Billions of years expanding universe and evolution and replicate it in the game.
When will we get gameplay impressions instead of stories talking about how big or immersive it's supposed to be?
"sounds like" it's not what is stated in the article. They are manually fixing (tweaking) planets and areas if the results aren't like that what they want.

That sounds extremely exaggerated. I smell another Spore.
LOL, it's pretty obvious they're using that probe to sample a number of planets, check they aren't too repetitive and tweak the generation procedure accordingly.
