This livestream makes the Xbox One seem like a HUGE mis-step for Microsoft.
You remove all this kinect stuff and you would be at $299-$399.It's amazing how the two features I, and most other gamers care about the least (voice commands and kinect stuff), are the two things that seem completely borked. This system is probably totally serviceable, but it looks so janky when the demonstrators are relying on navigation options other than the controller.
$499 is definitely way too high for me to be remotely interested right now, after what I've been seeing here
Nope that is what they said and what other people reported. It darkens the picture and adds a little processing to it (you can see a little more ringing around logos and stuff because it slightly sharpens the picture) and any 5.1 audio will be downmixed to stereo.
There is a 5.1 audio beta setting which gives you a warning that it will further degrade picture quality.
This HDMI IN is useless. I knew it.
Is Nilay Patel sniping in the back as usual when it comes to MS?
Nilay doesn't like anything if its doesnt have a fruit on the back.
Have they shown zoo tycoon yet?
Notice how he kept putting his hands into his pocket... I think that's why.
Wow even if it's full screen you lose 5.1? Who in thier right mind would use this?
Was all prerecorded.
So did it look like an 8/10 on the stream? Polygon still do dynamic scoring, right?
Plugging your cable/satellite into the Xbox and having it on even more than usual for a video game system sounds like a disaster in the making, overheating wise, after the problems with it with the 360.
Hopefully MS will prove me wrong.
How the hell did they manage to degrade the sound and picture quality with the HDMI in?

Did Gies see this coming and opt to stay far away from this? Or will we end up seeing him later? This Nilay guy isnt afraid to go after them with tough questions. Love it.
His exasperation at their HDMI-in "solution" is hilarious to watch. It's great that they are repeating these earlier recorded interviewsThis Nilay guy isnt afraid to go after them with tough questions. Love it.
