It's amazing how the two features I, and most other gamers care about the least (voice commands and kinect stuff), are the two things that seem completely borked. This system is probably totally serviceable, but it looks so janky when the demonstrators are relying on navigation options other than the controller.

HOLY POOP. It's astonishing how big of a difference that is. Main UI even looks less cluttered too.
You remove all this kinect stuff and you would be at $299-$399.

Plugging your cable/satellite into the Xbox and having it on even more than usual for a video game system sounds like a disaster in the making, overheating wise, after the problems with it with the 360.

They completely demolished the UI/Kinect in that live stream. Pretty crazy. HDMI in (for now) seems absolutely pointless. There's also a lot of things that need to be fixed, no warnings during game switching is huge.

Presenter had some skills, that interviewee (recorded) didn't help though. "that's great" he's in charge

The sound one is a pretty big mistake and inexcusable. The picture thing is normal and expected actually. They put their UI overlay over the picture. This is not possible without processing the picture and that will always change some aspects of the picture. In this case sharpen and darken the image.
If it would just work like a HDMI splitter or HDMI receiver put in direct passthrough mode, it would not touch the picture at all. But that is not how Xbox One works.

I find it hard to believe that they really downgrade the quality a noticable amount (with the beta setting on) but we'll see on Friday. Will just not use the feature if it does; no loss from what I've seen but it would've been nice to get notifications while watching tv
