I think what you're not understanding is that people don't get a choice if they work or not. They don't just wake up and go, "I think I'll go to work today." Those decisions are usually made for them. Unless you specifically designate it as a day off, most people will be forced to work, not have the choice of whether or not they get to stay home or come to work.
Pope's getting all Cosmo.
And you want Sunday to work the same way? You want people to also HAVE to go to work Sunday, just like Monday through Friday (and Saturday)? Why? Because you're bored? As long as you still get the appropriate amount of downtime each week, this is kind of how the world works anyway. I don't get to choose that I work Monday to Friday.
Again. What is this supposed to mean? What country are you from? Most people do not have that choice on any given day. His point is that it shouldn't be like another Saturday- a day that for many people is like any other week day that they have to work on (myself included on some weeks). He's saying that we as a society should set aside a day when people don't have to worry about work, or their loved ones working, and can spend time with one another for a more emotionally and spiritually healthy life. And the work ethic we have in the US is absolutely not conducive to that. If you get bored and frustrated when the mall or Best Buy or local movie theater is closed for one day then I don't know what to tell ya.How can you possibly have interpreted my post to mean that they should do these things while working?
I'm saying that I disagree with him that Sunday should be a special day where you "have" to spend time with your family, or have some downtime, or whatever. Certain religions don't let you work on a Sunday - I couldn't live with not having that option.
All I'm saying is that Sunday should just be like a Saturday. If you want to work, you should be able to work. If you want to spend it with your family, cool. Sundays are always so quiet and boring, they fucking suck.
10. Work for peace. "We are living in a time of many wars," he said, and "the call for peace must be shouted. Peace sometimes gives the impression of being quiet, but it is never quiet, peace is always proactive" and dynamic.

Not a single believe In Jesus or you will go to hell.
This man has it right.

Right, and I'm saying fuck that. All of it.
This notion that the whole country should shut down for one day a week is so archaic. Sundays are not special.
Some people do work on Sundays. In fact, a lot of people work on Sundays. Many stores are open, just not all day like Monday-Sunday.No, and thanks for rewording my post as you see fit! You didn't even make reference to the bit where I said, "As long as you still get the appropriate amount of downtime each week".
All I am saying is that Sundays should not be closed off for people going to work. You have to have some people working - shop workers, emergency services, tourist attractions, etc, otherwise the whole bloody country shuts down and everyone is just sitting at home with their parents.
Right, and I'm saying fuck that. All of it.

Why Your Brain Needs More Downtime
Research on naps, meditation, nature walks and the habits of exceptional artists and athletes reveals how mental breaks increase productivity, replenish attention, solidify memories and encourage creativity.
"We also know that the mind is very powerful and can help with healing, so a rested, relaxed mind is able to help the body heal better," said Withers.
Psychologists echo the value of vacations for the mind.
"The impact that taking a vacation has on one's mental health is profound," said Francine Lederer, a clinical psychologist in Los Angeles who specializes in stress and relationship management. "Most people have better life perspective and are more motivated to achieve their goals after a vacation, even if it is a 24-hour time-out."

It can suck for a lot of people. These services provide a constant distraction for many. Without it, they may have to actually sit down and reflect and realize that they're lonely assholes who no one wants to be around, unless something's going on.Someone's mad they couldn't get Chic-Fil-A on Sunday...

The worst part is that you only want it the most on Sundays. It's so weird. It's like your stomach knows and it's actively taunting you. This made me laugh. I get upset when I want Chic-Fil-A on Sunday![]()

If you start saying "Sunday is the day of rest, for everyone", no-one will get any shit done, ever, because no-one else will be working.
All of that is either common sense or something you learn pretty damn early on in life. Chances are you are a sociopath or generally deranged otherwise.

6. Find innovative ways to create dignified jobs for young people. "We need to be creative with young people. If they have no opportunities they will get into drugs" and be more vulnerable to suicide, he said.
The dopest pope
He's not wrong.
Sounds good to me. Everyone should have a collective day off. If you can't wait or adjust your schedule for things being closed on a day then I have no sympathy for you.
I think this is a good list of general advice, but you clearly can't take #5 literally saying that everyone should specifically have Sunday off.
Yeah, fuck people that want electricity to be running on Sundays.
1. "Live and let live."
