So within this 90 day period you can have sex and masturbate but just no porn right? Or sex only?
Ideally, avoid all three.

If you have to masturbate, do it by sensation only - no fantasy or mental images.

Sex is a tricky one. People report that it has lengthened the process. Some guy had to swear off it completely, but luckily had a very understanding girlfriend. I initially swore off it first time around but this second time I'm just going to do it, but in moderation. Requires an understanding lover but if they aren't understanding why keep them?

Basically, the fastest route to recover is no porn, no masturbation and no orgasm. So long as you can avoid the porn (and porn fantasy), you will recover, it'll just probably take longer than 90 days if you do have infrequent orgasms as well.

Doesn't prolonged periods of no sexual activity lead to nocturnal ejaculations?
I believe for a young, healthy male two weeks without orgasm runs the risk of wet dreams, yes. Obviously, it varies from person to person, some not at all.

If you have so much of a problem you need a 90 day reset, you are not going to see a single one until towards the end of the process, if at all. I didn't even start getting morning wood again until about a month in.

That happened to me. When I first entered college I was so busy that I literally had no time to masturbate outside of the shower, and I didn't do it in there either. It was about 2 weeks without masturbation and I remember having a very sexual dream and then waking up mid-orgasm to find a mess in my boxers.

Also, I'm doing this. Almost a week without looking at porn, and I've masturbated two times in that period which is really good for me. I'm not completely abstaining from masturbating, but I'm definitely going to try to masturbate less and cut porn entirely.

Do you think that not masturbating makes a huge difference? In the article it made it seem like porn was the problem and that masturbation won't effect erectile dysfunction.

I didn't hold off sex, still noticed an improvement. Not sure if by holding off of sex if the change would have been more drastic thought.

Also, when I masturbate, I kind of think of... freaky stuff... even without the porn. I would like to shy away from this as I'm afraid these are the only images that can really get me hard. I'm gay and I would like to get very turned on just thinking of a guy naked, but I too often attribute sexual attraction to other things. In other words, I would love it if softcore porn got me horny. :p

Will it get better anyways, or... I don't know, any advice?

I was seriously worried I had this problem, but I realized my issue stemmed more from anxiety. Some of you guys might have the same issue - where occasionally you start getting in your head and worrying, basically telling your erection to pack its bags and leave. This happened to me for a slew of reasons, and it went away after the second or third time with the new girl (only been with 3 girls so far). If your problem is that you have a raging erection up until all the clothes come off, then you start to feel nervous - it's not porn induced sexual dysfunction.

Again, that's generally not the only problem for most here. It's more that we can't cum once we've started... or at least not for a very long time. Add to that being less aroused generally and it can be fairly miserable.

(Yes I appreciate there are some who would want to swap, but it's very frustrating)

Oh, and Fantastical, think of a radiator or something. Maybe Margaret Thatcher naked on a cold day. See if you can still masturbate then. ;)

Anxiety is a HUGE thing, but I can definitely say that if you avoided all porn, anxious or not, your buildup down there is going to force an erection.

A little alcohol won't hurt either.

Also, have her give you a massage. You'll forget your troubles for a while and your anxiety will take a backseat.

Yeah, I hear it doesn't happen to everyone, but I'm pretty sure it happens to most of us. I have experienced it a lot. It really sucks, it's pretty disgusting waking up to it.

What works for me is when I really get into a series. It doesn't matter if it's on TV, comics, books. If there's a character I really like and I have recently read/watched the medium, I can masturbate to them even without imagining too kinky stuff. Try to masturbate to a personage or even a celebrity you have recently seen and really like. That might work.

Okay, I laughed. What is the gay equivalent of Margaret Thatcher? :p

I'm going to keep trying this 90 day trial until I actually get it. It is weird that my mind is turned on by fantasy but I want to quickly get back to the natural way which is intimacy or sensual touch. I need fantasy to get my fix. Porn has done that. I'm going to withdraw it. I can totally confirm that I do feel low or have anxiety problems after I get off. I feel like I did something wrong in a sense.

I need a girlfriend plain and simple. And reduce my masturbation dramatically. I will update in a few days. Started 11/24/11 at 12:00AM.

New attempt, with a twist this time because nothing else ever works.

I'm at my 11th day without watching porn. I still jerk it off every other day for the time being, without thinking of anything (although it's nowhere near as pleasurable as with porn), but starting today, that's ending altogether. The idea is that if I reduce the crazy porn fantasies first, it's gonna be easier to go through the reboot since I won't have nearly as much stimulation when I actually stop. (and perhaps the wet dreams won't be as bad then)

I've also just cleared my browser history and removed my porn folder, as just seeing the file names made me want to relapse. I resisted, but I'm giving myself a chance looking forward.

I keep on trying. I'm hopeful I'll get it right at some point. I highly recommend reading the success stories on the blog linked in the OP - they're a hell of a motivation.

Damn it, went one whole week without masturbation (3 weeks without porn) and I couldn't handle it today and just loaded up some porn and jerked. On the plus side, I definitely had a more firm erection than usual and came buckets.

I had so much testosterone/huge libido I was ready to rip a truck in half, I just had to let it out.

Time to start over.

I'm still doing this. Day 29 since I last watched porn, day 18 since I last masturbated. First time I go over a week without jerking off since I was 13 (even The Contest threads didn't make me achieve that)

It's surprisingly easy at this point, although I still get flashbacks from time to time. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it since I've yet to notice major positive effects, but I figure at this point I should go all the way and if it really isn't worth it, I can always go back to the good old habits a few months down the road. But so far, I'm determined to get to the bottom of this thing.

I should note, I'm not doing this because I have any kind of ED (I wouldn't know about that since I'm still a virgin), but rather because of the other claimed "side-benefits" of quitting.

Way I figure it, New Year's would be the perfect time to start this "time out." Until then, though, FAPFAPFAPFAPFAPFAP

I was doing a week without any problems when I hooked up with a girl and messed it up. I can get an erection while watching porn, and that shit can last for an hour. However, if using only my imagination I can last longer, but I'll go flacid from time to time. With women, it's fucking russian roulette. I'm on viagra, but it doesn't always work. I think it's largely psychological, but what do I know?

I'm more occupied with worrying about my erection, or lack thereof, than actually enjoying myself. I never get horny with girls the same way I do with my imagination or porn. I'm just too worried that I'll go flacid, or not get hard at all. Fucking sucks.

Anyone else have this?

I'm going cold turkey now, trying five weeks.

Update: 24 days without the desire of porn, masturbation or orgasm. I did have two wet dreams however. One 12/10/11 and another 12/11/11. But that was probably due to wearing tight briefs and probably having or thinking sexual thoughts before sleep. You can't really do anything about wet dreams. They happen naturally. I have switched to loose boxers.

And I'm feeling exceptionally great. I'm having normal morning wood. I have random erections when I'm flirting with woman now. Something I didn't use to have when I would flirt with them. I would flirt with them and would later fantasize about them in a porn flick and that would get me going or thinking about a porn flick would get me going. It feels good. My confidence is up too. I can look at people in their eyes too. I sleep good. All in all this is soooo good. It's like I'm returning to the way I was by default before I was introduced to porn.

It's not like I'm trying to refuse to look at porn but I have NO desire to look at it. Plus I have mixed views about porn stars in general now. I actually feel sorry for their job. Selling their bodies for entertainment purposes.

I hope those that are trying, continue pressing forward. It will pay off in the future. Especially with your future spouse or potential relationships. Girls will like the random erections. Especially when you tell them you are clean of porn or masturbation.

Tell me if this is weird. I've developed a pretty bizarre masochistic fetish as a result of the internet.

I can only get off to HD streaming porn viewed on a 56k dial-up connection.

I still think this concept sounds like utter BS.....

It certainly helps. I don't know about 90 days though.

With the holidays coming up, I'm gonna be with family and friends for two weeks. A great time to try this out.

I guess I should delete my porn collection as well so as to not get tempted!

Not true. That's why I'm calling BS on it.
Then I apologise for my assumption. However, your singular experience doesn't really give you adequate data to judge the entire thing, especially when there are so many success stories available for you to read. If you honestly managed the whole 90 days and symptoms still remains, obviously you have something else wrong with you and you should consult your doctor.

I don't have the symptom in the first place.....

Don't know where else to post this really, but is there a reputable site where you can order viagra (or the like) without a prescription? The methods suggested in this thread are still not helping.

I really, really advise against the non-prescription viagra route. You never know what you are getting.

How long have you been porn and orgasm free? Tell us a little about your problems.

I thought the grand implication is that it happens to anyone. If I'm incorrect on this I apologize.
The grand implication was that everyone goes 90 days with orgasm and porn? Or the grand implication being that everyone fails to keep it up?

If the latter:
- Erectile problems can be caused by a wide variety of issues. There is no way you can use some people having ED for another reason to discredit this reason. Use your reasoning.
- Erectile Dysfunction, as in regular inability to have or maintain errections, should not be happening in young people unless they have something physically wrong with them. Yes, everyone might have a story about the time they were so nervous they couldn't keep it up, but the moment that becomes "this guy has a few stories about that", then he has a problem.
- What on earth lead you to the thought process that this was BS? Did you even read any of it? Then to claim you have experience, but then you don't have experience, then everyone has experience? Either English isn't your first language or you're just typing much faster than your brain works.

Well I'm 20 years old and never really it occurred to me that I had a problem until a couple of years ago when I started college. Up until that point I probably masturbated maybe 2-3 times a day starting from age 15.

To make a long a story short, I didn't really have my first sexual experience until college and I realized I couldn't even really get it up "enough" for sex. Even while watching porn I had realized I wasn't that hard.

I've seen a urologist and I have no problems and he suggested it was something mental. I've gone 30 days without masturbating (and porn) a few times and have seen no progress, so I don't know what to do next.

Go 90. I'm serious. If there is nothing wrong physically, then either you have crushing mental issues or you have porn-induced dysfunction. I mean, 2-3 times a day is crazy. If you're not even getting hard watching porn (I'm going to guess you have to physically stimulate yourself while watching it first?) yet still feel the need to jack off, you're chasing it like a drug.

Go cold. Read through the various websites and success stories - took one chap longer than 30 days to see positive effects, and about 120 days before he felt 'back to normal'. Also, get an understanding girlfriend for any future sexual encounters. You really want someone caring if you're going in unsure.

*Ducks are not qualified at anything other than Virtua Fighter, so this advice is not guarranteed, but based of life experience and knowledge at hand. The last two sentences are certain, though. Count on it.

Well I definitely don't have any mental issues haha. Yeah I have to physically stimulate myself while watching. It seems so long ago where I didn't have to do that. But I guess I'll give it another go. My semester just ended and I'll be home for a month and haven't stimulated myself or watched porn for the last week, so I'll keep this going for as long as I can.

It just sucks though at parties and stuff if a girl starts to come on to me I have to sort of disengage from her because I know what's going to happen.

Well, don't. If you meet someone really nice, try to turn it into a relationship. Just don't go hunting one nights stands.
