A growing number of young, healthy Internet pornography users are complaining of delayed ejaculation, inability to be turned on by real partners, and sluggish erections.

...

Is anxiety really the cause? Here's a simple test: Try to masturbate (alone) using no porn and no fantasy—only sensual touch. Use the same speed and pressure as you would during intercourse. How erect is your penis without porn? If your penis is not fully erect, or it takes effort to become erect, then the chances are that anxiety is not the source of your problems. Persistent performance problems can certainly lead to anxiety, however. As one man said after he recovered following three months without masturbation or porn,

...

Erections start with dopamine and end with cGMP. Sexual enhancement drugs work by inhibiting the breakdown of cGMP, thus allowing it to accumulate in the penis. Yet if the patient's brain isn't producing enough signals in the first place, ED drugs will not increase libido or pleasure even if they (sometimes) produce an erection.

More at the link.

Really interesting stuff. I've been struggling with this for a while, and just cutting out porn has been a huge help.

Obviously, the situation is made worse if you're like me and have a regular sexual partner that you don't want to let down. If you're a single guy, the problem might not be as apparent.

It gets really bad when ordinary porn doesn't cut it any more.

A friend of mine had extreme rape porn streaming on his TV 24/7 in his apartment before he got married. With sound on.

It was bad.

That's kinda one of the reasons I've been only using homemade porn for years. As in done by me with my partner. Real girls with real memories associated to them turn me on way more than random fantasies, for some reason.

EXTREME RAPE PORN. Come on, seriously?

I can attest that this problem is true to me with my last relationship with my exgf. Took forever to get off and I knew porn was to blame cause I would be wacking it everyday with it. Kids, you have to limit your porno intake.

I'm so far ahead of the curve that I can only get turned on by real women, and not pornography any more.

Excessive porn users: Use more porn.

If lasting longer is better than why is delayed ejaculation a bad thing? Also just don't masturbate for a couple days and you'll be good to go again.

It's all about the sweet spot, baby!

This was a case for me, but I deleted everything I had and started again with SOFT porn. And it totally works.

I can't stand any of that throat choking shit. I need to feel a connection with the performing artist!

Easy access to porn does fuck us up.

But it's only a single piece (large one albeit) in a rather complex puzzle of social sexuality.

It does have its pros, but also has plenty of cons.

I'd treat it like firearms and drugs - fun but exercise caution and understanding.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
I can only get turned on by lesbian porn, and even at that it has to be two real lesbians having sex on there webcams type videos .

edit, i watch allot of this type of porn and have no trouble having sex long enough for my girlfriend to orgasm, then orgasm my self.

sex wise i prefer to go all out and orgasm within 30 seconds.

quickies FTW.

edit, read the OP, i have no trouble getting turned on and having sex with my girlfriend.

I prefer to have sex at the slightest hornyness i feel

Reddit tells me i get 47. something percent more testosterone if i dont masturbate for 7 days.
Why would you need more testosterone? To feel manly?
Masturbating 5 times in a row has the same effect, and your balls won't hurt. Well, maybe, if you do it every day.

It's definitely something I'm aware off despite not experiencing such problems when 'in the field'.

I wonder if there is a female equivalent of this?

This comes up on every forum with insecure guys worried about erectile dysfunction after a night of not getting it up.

THERE IS A CURE:

STOP WATCHING PORN.

Porn sets unrealistic expectations. Use your imagination, it's probably a better workout anyways.

A doctor on tv was talking about this problem the other day, and how massive it was. He had to prescible a lot of cyalist (? i forgot to spelling) to tons of guys that would be normally in their prime. Healthy guys too, not super fat guys with crappy blood pressure.

There was a female expert with him and she also mentioned that many, many guys had crazy expectations about the performances of their partners due to porn; and a lot of problems could be traced to the fact that their partners were not as 'willing' or 'acrobatic' as the adult industry girls they had been watching forever. And this would lead to some sort of blockage for the guy.

Interesting stuff!

Stop blaming porn, if you can't get it up find another partner.

Your giving us guys who enjoy porn and still enjoy sex a bad name.

Taking too long is almost as bad as being premature. Just ask the woman.

Yeah, there's nothing like getting intimate with a real partner. Voyeurism is a cheap pleasure, and it gets old and fades quick, and then it escalates. People the find "resourceful" ways of getting themselves off, but that results in the loss of pleasure. It didn't take an article for me to realize this, it took an infinitely sexually interesting girlfriend. I gave it up, and I'm only 19 (20 soon). Been 'bating since 11, with and without pr0n.

I tried just quitting porn, but I'm not gonna try to just stop masturbating to see if it makes any difference.

The article states that some guys have had luck with that, and that quitting porn alone won't work.

You basically get a ten second window in which to ejaculate without the girl getting perturbed. Bust too late or too soon and they'll start to wonder things.

on another note, i'm gonna lay off the smut for 2 weeks and see how that works.

I'll save you the expense - it ends in washing your bedsheets after busting a nut all over them in your sleep. Your body is too used to ejaculating constantly.

Well I"m off to Korea for around three weeks to visit a friend so I'll have to give it a rest during that time.

Recovery appears to take 6-12 weeks, and rests primarily on one factor: avoiding the extreme stimulation of Internet erotica. (Many also avoid masturbation for a time, either because at first they cannot masturbate without porn fantasy, or because climax triggers binging.)

Among those who recover, progression is surprisingly similar. Men typically report that after a few days of intense sexual cravings, their libido plummets and their penis seems "lifeless," "shrunken," or "cold." These "flatline" symptoms typically continue for up to six weeks on average, dependent upon age and intensity of porn use.

Quitting can therefore be quite challenging. In addition to an alarming temporary drop in libido, some men experience withdrawal symptoms: insomnia, irritability, panic, despair, concentration problems, and even flu-like symptoms.

A few facts:

1. This is 100% fixable.
2. It will likely be one of the most difficult things you've ever done. 3. If you ever want a normal sex life again, you kinda don't have another choice.

Fuuuuck this shit! Sounds like the worst and longest rehab period ever... and for what? An odd chance to get off with a person every now and then, risk of STDs, expenses that come with dating, drama, etc. etc.

I think Porn wins.

How about this? It's like everything else in the universe. Some people are not negatively effected, and some are. Alcoholism, drug addiction, and porn. Same shit. I am not alcoholic, I can look at porn and still fuck my partner, but I get addicted to many drugs very easily. So I don't do the shit. Doesn't mean someone else shouldn't. Same with this.

too much imagery gets shoved into the mind when whatchin too much pr0n.

the fantasy imagery become the ideal desired image of what we want and interferes with average sex

it's best to take a few days break from pr0n and notice better results with the misses

That is fucked up. He probably needs professional help.

I bet this is a big problem, but something that can probably be brought under reasonable control for most guys with a bit of discipline.

For men in a relationship, I would imagine that just a few days without porn or whacking off would do wonders for their libido and ability to perform. Buuuuut.... someone's gotta watch that Sara Stone clip during their lunch break to make the day a little more bearable...

Use the same speed and pressure as you would during intercourse.

Maybe if guys would stop trying to vise grip their dicks while pumping it like there's no tomorrow they wouldn't be having as big a problem with the strength of their erections. Seriously I've had a couple friends that have complained about their boyfriends desensitizing their dicks by not understanding how to masterbate properly. Learn how to yank your shit properly people.

Yes, but he's saying "get another partner"... Just like that. On the grounds that he/she can't do the shit that porn does for him/her. Isn't that supposed to be bad? Sounds like you're giving up a relationship for an addiction. Sounds like the mentality of an addict... Sounds like denial, really.

Porn desensitizes you. Period.
