Vivid Entertainment set the record straight about the adult entertainment industry and HD format wars

Reports came in last week from Heise (English report) claiming that the adult entertainment industry has chosen HD DVD as the format of choice. The aforementioned report, however, conflicted with a DailyTech interview with Vivid Entertainment Group founder Steven Hirsch where the exec stated his company plans on backing both high-definition formats.
...
DailyTech was originally told that Vivid plans on supporting both formats, with the company’s first Blu-ray and HD DVD release on March 28, 2006 to be Debbie Does Dallas…Again, which conflicted with the original Heise report.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I thought I read that the only issue with Blu-Ray and porn was that Sony wasn't going to allow porn companies to use the same replicators as Disney.

What's the reasoning behind this? Anyone know? Is it ethical or is it a worry about there being a mixup at the factory?

Probably a worry about a mixup most likely since Disney is pretty much the biggest ****ing legal target on the face of the planet.

Yeah, you can't honestly blame them for going that far out of there way.

So anyway, that Heise article about sony not allowing Porn on blu-ray was all bullcrap?

The one that everybody (not necessarily on this forum) was calling the downfall of Blu-Ray.

Rather, Sony won't produce Porn Blu-Ray discs at their current facilities.
A far cry from "Not allowing porn"

Disney themselves have a lot of pull. It wouldn't be the first time they've gone to an organization and said "if you want our business - you can't process porn or any other ethically questionable material here".

Debbie Does Dallas - geez, they're starting right off with the classics! Or, is it a remake? Damn Hollywood and its remake mania nowadays.

Panasonic is going to open up their own Blu-ray disc replicator plant for BD-R/W mainly, but they will also be able to cater to "niche" studios.

Porn has been out on HD DVD in America now. What happened? Blu-ray continues to outsell it at big name stores like Best Buy and online places like DVD Empire.

Porn is a non-factor in HD. Hell, there are HD porn sites where you can get a month membership for less than the price of 1 HD DVD porn and store them on your HDD, and burn it on Blu-ray or HD DVD.

Who cares about the story......it's porn?!

I care about the story, hell, it's the main reason I watch porn. (at least that's what I say in discussions about porn to not come off as the biggest perv in the group)
