Only GBA/NDS games.
I only played the Megaman's Nes games (1-6) and never touched the serie again. But now I've been looking forward to a portable Megaman. Which one should i get ? There are so many of them, i'm confused.

I picked up Mega Man Zero 2 when it was on clearance at TRU, and I had an absolute blast with it. *shrug*

If you haven't played a Megaman since 6 don't play ZX...unfortunately, I don't have a recommendation for you other then that.

Mega Man Zero 1-2 are awesome. Tough but awesome. Haven't play 3 or 4, but I've heard they're just as good.
Mega Man Battle Network 1-3 are also good. They're not standard Mega Man, they're pretty much a card-based action RPG, but it's great fun. If you want to pick one, go for 2 or 3.

If you just want somewhat more traditional(ish, they play significantly different from the NES ones) Mega Man, go for the Zero series.

Megaman Zero series on the GBA , i picked the them all 1 to 4 recently and i've been having a blast with them.
I'd also recommend Megaman ZX series on DS as well.

I just finished Mega Man ZX (DS) for the first time the other day, and if you don't mind an extremely confusing map system that requires you to backtrack like crazy (they failed the Metroid-vania test), then you're in for a pretty enjoyable adventure. Most of the forms you unlock are useless most of the time, but it's otherwise an enjoyable romp with great graphics, challenging bosses, and well-designed levels.

This PSP remake of the original Mega Man was an awesome journey and includes both the original level layouts, and a remixed version with additional story and two new enemies. It's super-awesomeness is mostly due to the extras though. You can unlock all of the bosses as playable characters, and also play as Roll and PROTOMAN. A must buy if you're a fan.

I also hear the Mega Man Zero games are awesome, though I never picked them up.

Shame that GBA collection never came out though. Here's a picture to taunt with.

Mega Man Zero 1-4
Mega Man and Bass
Mega Man Battle Network 1-6

For DS:

Mega Man ZX
Mega Man Star Force

All of them are pretty good games. Obviously the higher the number the more polished the gameplay was but they all are good (well Zero 1 is balls breaking hard at many points...).

My preferences would be Zero 2-4, MMBN 2, 5 and 6, MM ZX, and MM SF.

If you enjoy that, try the Zero series, but be wary that it's ass hard unless you follow a few simple points a) revisit previous areas to powerup/gain lives and b) USE THE CYBER ELVES

c) is that yes, cyber elves is about as retarded as it sounds, but the games are still great fun

the mm zero series is awesome. all of it. i still haven't gotten far into zx, but it seems cool too. mm powered up is i think my personal favorite -- just tons of content and charm and classic goodness -- but you haven't got a psp

If you pick up a PSP in the future, those should be the first games you check out. They are, simply put, the best Megaman products we've received in the last 10 years (IMO). While it's true that they are remakes, the bring back everything that made Megaman great and enhance it like crazy (and, hey, Megaman X is the best game in the series, if you ask me). Absolutely amazing games for the fans.

A lot of that slowdown is present in the original game. If you play on a 333 MHz PSP, however, the slowdown is removed.
