Portal 2 $20 Gift Card With Amazon Preorder(Console Versions Only)

Pre-ordered PS3 version a couple months back. Glad to see the new pre-order incentives carry over to old pre-orders. Love Amazon.

I've also just put together a decent gaming PC but have yet to get anything off of Steam. So I'm looking forward to messing around with Portal 2 on there.

In case people aren't aware, if the credit is for VG only you can also put it towards points cards. That's what I do if there are no games I want. And if there's an expiration date on the credit, you can place a pre-order for a game releasing beyond the expiration, and that works.

I think Amazon always honors the best deal, if the deal improves after you pre-ordered it. If you're not sure, contact Customer Service. Don't cancel your order and re-order it, just have them modify it if needed. That way you don't run the risk of cancelling your order and the deal going away before you can place a new order.

Yeah, good call. I'm a student Prime member and Amazon upgraded my two-day shipping to release-date delivery for free at some point after I placed the Portal 2 pre-order, so I definitely want to keep that.

Fake edit: I'm actually not sure if student Prime members all get free release-date shipping.

So, any info on how the activation of the PC version that comes with the the PS3 version of the game will be handled?

Probably something like, put Steam ID and password on PS3, done. :p

Why would you do that? said:
This might be a very stupid question, but do you get the game credit now, or when the game ships and you're charged?

If it's right now, I want to put it on my 3DS pre-order.

"The promotional credit will be added directly to your Amazon.com account within two days after your order ships."

Is ps3 the definitive version? I don't want to open a can of worms, but I remember hearing it was the lead platform (besides pc obviously).

its definitive in the sense that when you buy it you also get the pc version, cloud saves and pc/ps3 cross platform multiplayer.

I'm not too familiar with pre-ordering from Amazon. They don't charge you until it's shipped, right?
They even let you change the payment method without any hassles (it's right on the order page).

I hope the PS3 version is technically up to par. I believe they've only demo'd the 360 and pc versions so far, and we know how that usually goes. But I believe the PS3 version is the console lead this time so hopefully that means a great port.

I apologize if this has been asked and I know this isn't the ideal thread for it but its the most recent Portal 2 related thread.

When playing Portal 2 on the PS3 you would be unable to play it with the linked PC copy, correct? Ie, if my friend is playing the PS3 copy while I play with the Steam account I activated and linked it to would not be able to log in at the same time. It'd be like trying to log in to Steam in two places at once, right? What if I made a new PSN account on his PS3 just to activate the Steam copy, and then he just used his own account to play the PS3 copy with me?

Not trying to cheat the system, just trying to get a better idea of how it'll work as there doesn't seem to be much documentation on it.

Is this going to be worth picking up just for the single player? I don't have any interest in co-op and would only bother playing SP and any SP maps they might release.

I'm guessing that the steam authentication supersedes psn accounts so it will act like it's installed on a pc.

This game is looking great. I was re-watching some trailers and bits and pieces. It`s beautiful and that goo and paint, sweet lord.

I have a great idea for a mod too but I doubt I`ll ever get around to it and lack the skills. :(

I bought the PS3 version because I wanted to go double duty on Mac, but I think I might just double dip and buy the 360 version too because I want to be able to play with my friends(who are all on 360 :/)
